  • Catch the full 4-hour version of this class including a detailed step-by-step demonstration @ outgang.studio/learn/
    This video demonstrates a layered-approach to different types of tertiary (skin) details in Zbrush. We start from a head that has been sketched in Dynamesh and afterward converted to subdivisions using Zwrap. From there we explain how the layer system of Zbrush can be used to organize and blend a wide range of skin details.

    Started learning Zbrush only 3days back so I know this tutorial is way over my league. But the way you were explaining everything was so fascinating that I didn't even skip a sec. You are an excellent artist and an awesome teacher. Subbed you 🙂

    You have beautiful bone structure. You should model or model yourself in 3D. A lot of people envy such strong structures. BTW you are very talented too

    Im new to zBrush. I have some questions: I use dynamesh a lot, but I've noticed it does not retain tertiary details like pores and such. Does this mean I need to work with subdivision instead at that point? Also, what can I do to the model to make it better to paint in Armor Paint? Sometimes I export the OBJs and import into armor paint and they look cracked or wet.

    Great tutorial. But how are you using clay tubes to polish or rather what settings are you applying to the brush in order to use it the way you're using it?

    • @Outgang
      @Outgang  2 роки тому +5

      My settings for Claytubes are: Alpha->Blur set to 15, Stroke->Roll Dist to 6 and Brush->Depth->Imbed to 0. The effect is similar (if not exacly the same as) some of the Trim brushes such as TrimDynamic, so for some it's easier to use the Trim brushes to polish as opposed to the modified clay tubes brush I use. Fun fact, the trim brushes are actually modified Clay brushes with an imbed set to 0.

    Where can I get a set of high quality close up shots of skin details?

    • @Outgang
      @Outgang  2 роки тому

      Both 3dScanStore and TexturingXYZ has some really high-res data if you're looking for 3d references. 3dsk has some interesting stuff too. For my part, I just use Google and randomly grab pictures off the web.

    Does giving detailed pores very taxing for a game? Does it affect game performance?

    • @Outgang
      @Outgang  2 роки тому

      No we typically can afford big textures for main character faces.

    • @Outgang
      @Outgang  Рік тому

      No just subdividing the mesh to be really high res. I think the head is around 40 mil triangles or so.
