This is the first puzzle where I actually got frustrated watching him struggle. The movement of the pieces just back and forth not actually moving anything around was rough.

    • @darksky1628

I agree, watching him make the same moves like 10x in a row was hella frustrating, first video i've seen him having this kind of trouble with a simple mechanism. watching him be like "these two pins aren't it" then wiggling the pins around and then poking the same two and saying "these two pins aren't it". yeah, you've already said that

It isn't the first one for him, he has done it before. As someone who is good at tracking pieces it is particularly frustrating watching the piece he established as the magnetic one as he loses track of it and tries the same two wrong ones 10 times in a row. He also is terrible at the logistics of moving the pieces, which is why he kept moving the same pieces into positions instead of actually trying pieces he hadn't tried before.

if they had two sets of pawns with opposite magnetic polarity and then some of the magnets on the box match with some of the pawns, and not only do you have to find the magnetic spots and magnetic pawns, but you have to find the ones with the right polarity, this would be the most brutal puzzle ever designed.

I thought about that, but I think the pawns with opposite polarities would push against each other a bit, kind of giving away the game. It'd work, but once you figure out the polarity thing, it's a simple matter of figuring out which pawns/magnets have which polarity, so it doesn't add too much to the puzzle, I think.

Speaking of puzzle stashes: Hosted a party once, and created a simple puzzle. Insisted everybody put their car keys in a beer mug in the freezer. I figured people who /really/ didn't need to drive wouldn't remember, and a handful did take quite a while to figure out where they were. At least they were a LOT more sober by the time they remembered, and were more open to having our DDs (we had a kinda complicated system with delayed drinkers and those that didn't drink, and a handful of off work bouncers that could be very convincing) drive them home. Not a crazy party, just a lot of wonderfully crazy people. Found out later people were still talking about that party several months later, and not negatively. Did a head count at one point and there were at least 40 people either inside or in the back yard, and estimates were that over 100 people cycled through. You /know/ it's a good party when you stayed up until just before dawn, wake up around 3 or 4pm and there is MORE alcohol on the premises than when you started. :P

Honestly, given you've done some puzzles with far more complex movements than this, I'm amazed you struggle SO long at this.
All the branches with magnets are 'long' arms, allowing two pieces (one above the magnet, and another below it), but the two non-magnetic branches are 'short' arms (one piece).
For the corner magnets arms, you need to put your target piece to test in the short arm, then slide the two pieces occupying the long arm past it. If it's not magnetic, leave it there. If the next piece available needs testing, move it to the short arm, otherwise move it to the long arm. Then put your next piece to test in the short arm. Rinse and repeat.

Man, that was a good trick! However, I can just kinda *kinda* see the edge of the spade 5 behind your neck earlier in the vid (0:58)... Dunno what it means, because the chain does not seem to spin during the reveal... I dunno. One question: Is the deck clean after the trick? Again, great trick!

I can't figure out how he moved it down, but he definitely very carefully hides his neck-area with the 5 from the deck and the rest of the deck when he spreads it. It disappears from the back of his neck as soon as it goes behind the 5 from the deck as he's showing it off. EDIT: Nevermind, I see how it worked. I won't reveal it publicly though.

If I had to guess, that card trick involved a card hiding the “necklace”card, held on by some means (magnets?), and the back of the “masking card” looked like the back of the other cards, with the front showing a false chain bottom and black which matched the shirt. Swiping the deck across the “masking card” removes the mask and reveals the “necklace card”, which was there all along. Just a guess. (Or it was visual effects.)
    Well done sir!

There are likely magnets in the drawer as well. Those would hold the pins in place so that you can't simply turn it upside down. The magnets in the pawns are stronger so that they can pull the pin away from the drawer magnets

Gaff card with the bead through it. It was hidden on top of the deck it also has magnets on the back. You actually took a five spades and stuffed it inside the deck no problem. When you grab the card put it around your neck to pull the chain off you actually had the real five spades already through the beaded chain and you dropped or sleeved if you will through the neck the other card. 👍

The five on the necklace behind your back comes out a little too fast over your right shoulder (I assume by accident). I would make sure to rotate the necklace to your left before the reveal a bit more. Very nice illusion! The hang is very well done!
