All jokes aside, the ability to memorize an entire chess board without seeing it, plan moves ahead AND casually chat with the opponent... is quite something.
all players in that level can do that
@@PP1969GR sure, that doesn't make it not impressive though 🙂
Yup very
@@PP1969GR not all IM’s can do that there have even been some GM’s to say playing blindfolded is something they can’t do but a lot of players of that level probably can but it’s still very impressive
Once you reach the rank of international Master, ELO above 2400, it is kind of expected that you can do at least one game at a time like this.
Anna's mother could do the same.
Anna - plays any move
Gotham - that doesn't work
It’s like what Hikaru did to levy
My assumption is that he calculates at least 4 layers deep of at least 4 possible moves.
But that's only an assumption.
@@TheTrueMega damn 😂😂
@@mariojoia1337 not really; at that point in the game, levy was in his prep zone. that's why he automatically knew that she made a poor move. up to a certain point, he knew what the best moves are and how to punish the bad moves

I love how he uses that same blindfold basically everytime lol
It's amazing
I think it is even more amazing that he wears a different blindfold for the thumbnail. Is pepe not thumbnail-worthy? :D

yeah its actually crazy man
He was completely consecrate on game

He had a blind fold on

Anna: No
Levy: Its queen d7
He knew that by saying that she would not play it
@@briceparent593 kinda genius
I love that when he plays Hikaru, he just gets so humbled and stuff but playing against Anna is like a walk in the damn park. Shows you how good an IM is still.
Of course an IM for Super GM is a dumb kid who grabbed a chess piece for the first time in his life.
Yeah chess power scaling is Insane.
To be fair Levy is pretty close to be a GM. One of the reasons he's not a GM rn is that he gets nervious against GMs.
@@peterp2195 he isn't focusing on OTB games. He has played too many blitz games online and developed some habits which are not good for OTB.
@@wularry1298 Even before that Levy has said that the thing holding him back from becoming GM is the fact the he gets nervous playing GMs and ends up not playing well
Levy’s stare has turned from staring into your soul into Yoda on steroids 😂
😂😂
Even while blindfolded, the stare is impressive.
@@someuser.Yes I do.
Pin of shame for the "Levi" 💀
Only missing the ears
We need to see Levy's live reaction to when he realised he had way more than 9 seconds left
The title is his reaction lol
was waiting for that ;)
He sacrificed… HIS PERCEPTION OF TIME
yeah he's kinda really fucking stupid for that
@@NoBatteriesLOL this is funny
I love that Anna’s mom could crush both of them but she still just sits silently while they play.
pia's voice is more relaxing than a sleeping pill, but will destoy ya regardless lol. i love this!
I love how Pia is smiling at her daughter the whole time as she watches her play, probably holding back on telling her what to do and enjoying watching her figure things out. So adorable.
smiling at her daughter the whole time as she watches her play, She tried to offer more than worm eyes dude , he daughter felt it and did her best to avoid it.
Levi using subtitles with capitals just shows he understands his viewers have the attention span of a squirrel
@Oprator is the serial killer the fbi is looking for
Brilliant comment
this comment is so good it should get pinned
Bro's intro really be edited like a VTuber clip LOL
Sorry I was only able to read half the comment because it wasn’t capitalised
The fact that he shows little to no struggle playing blindfolded is incredible. It really shows the talent he has, and even some grandmasters, although lower rated grandmasters, struggle in this situation
Grandmasters are better than him
@@ExplosiveTN123 that is true but not all grandmasters are able to play well blindfolded
@@ExplosiveTN123 Well maybe in a normal chess situation, but they may not be better at remembering all of the peices and where they are at on the board.
Hee played three simultaneous games blind folded as well and only missed one or two piece positions, it’s such a mind blowing skill
Nah all gms can do this easily
The fact that these advanced players can see the board blindfolded like this is just something that never stops to amaze me. Especially when Levy sees the knight move forking the king and queen INSTANTLY. Bravo my man!
“Im just a spectator”
-The Blindfolded Participant
Lol
Anna: You have 9 seconds left
Levy after seeing he had over a minute left: *_picks up the chair_* Now let's start really beating my opponents
😭😭😭
it's funny cause he actually can't see
The King is gonna yeet the Queen
it's literally his fault though
@@ethandenaro1221For not being able to see the time? For agreeing to a blindfold game? How is it his fault?
I love how Anna wanted to shake Levy's hand to accept the draw, but he didn't see it. That's some proof the blindfold is real
But you can just purposely not do the handshake? It's like saying that a person is not cheating if they play the 2nd best move 1 time.
@Jack Of the box It is. You said that simply not seeing the handshake is proof that the blindfold is real. So, in my example, simply playing the 2nd best move is proof that the fair play is real. I use the exact same words and same concept and just switched the topic from blindfolding and handshakes to best moves and fair play.
Edit: By the way, I'm not saying at all that gothamchess was cheating or was not using the blindfold correctly, and I very much believe so he was playing fair. My comment was made to prove you wrong. It was not to get attention because I'm lonely and has no friends or some GARBAGE like that, so @randomcommenter2000 (not actual username) dont just budge in randomly and say some stupid crap like that.

Her mother is like "oh Anna these are terrible moves"
My respect for Levy has just multiplied. Playing blindfolded has always been to me the hardest skill in chess, as I can't make the right move without a blindfold, much less keep track of all the pieces on the board.
I really wanted to see levy’s reaction when he realised he had more time
Edit - thanks for so many likes . I never got so many likes :)
I don’t think he did until he took his blindfold off but yea I’d definitely like to know what he did😂🤣

This is very impressive. Unfortunate that Anna said 9 seconds that felt unfair even though it was not on purpose I assume.
I love the way that Annas mom like gracefully taps the timer and always knows exactly where to move the pieces
Doing chess while your GM mother is watching is probably very stressful, Anna still did great tho
She's quite used to it I imagine. Pia comes on stream pretty often
dude...its her mom
I like that the strongest player at the table was being quiet and just moving pieces
Her mom so politely presses the timer i love it so much
I don't what amazes me more, the fact the levi can memorize and play like this and chat making jokes, or the fact that the eyes and the reactions blend so perfectly

Anna’s mom just smiling thinking to herself how terrible all of their moves were. Her blissful smile disguises it well, but deep down inside she’s disgusted that she has to play Levy’s horrible moves
Because she's just that kind of lady right?
I dont think a comment could be more wrong
Acting like you're some 2000 elo guy
This is a really enjoyable series. Would love to see more content playing against other creators/chess pros in this format. This is coming from a guy who hasn't played chess officially in over 15 years, but is trying to light that spark again. Keep it up!
I was waiting for Levy’s reaction once he realized he had enough time to beat her easily and he got a draw because of his thinking about time
when anna said " im gonna go for a pawn avalanche" levy blundered that he could say "you cant stop and avalanche with a horse" LOL
He sacrificed... THE JOOOOKE!
I love how gently Pia presses the button
How cute is the way Pia presses the timer on the clock...so delicately as if shes scared it would hurt the button :)
I love this trio. Pia is so calm and stoic and Anna is so opposite. Levy is Levy. Helps when you have a GM Mother and Father
I'm not sure if it's funny or sad when Anna apologizes to her GM parents, whenever she assumes they are disappointed in her games.
Susan Polgar, Alexandra Kosteniuk, Hou Yifan?
Seems pretty lighthearted to me
The thing I love is that Pia only ever seems happy for Anna and to share in her Anna's disappointment and never seems disappointed in Anna herself :-)!
There are lots of tragic stories of children failing their parents. Then again, there are lots of heartwarming stories of children taking over their parents work successfully. Anna already did succeed because she is one of the most listened to chess teachers, her being better than 99% of all chess players AND being smart about how to use new media being the reasons. That's a lot like Levy, too
This is so fun. I bet more collabs in Chess community would be even more fun :D Imagine Hikaru + Anna + Gotham some pajama Chess party!
I like to imagine that Mrs. Cramling is just silently judging both of their moves while smiling
"You can hang out with Anna but you have to blindfolded and you aren't allowed to touch any pieces." It's like my life in a nutshell.

The mom is having so much fun, God bless her and her family
I love when the strongest player is just moving the pieces. Because they never say anything but their face says it all
@@lordnorden5856 I now wonder what about pia blindfolded vs levy

Pia's eyebrows at 11:46 when Anna misses the mate
Levi with this blindfold is like a sleep paralysis demon
It's insane how he keeps talking and makes jokes while not seeing the board is absolutely insane
This is because different areas of the brain are engaged into these 2 activities. I'm only around 1300 rating, but can also visualize a board with pieces on it and play a game in my head, all while watching a YT video and reading comments. I think anyone can do this, at least for a short period of time. But once the game gets complicated, I do tent to "get lost" and loose track of some pieces. To be able to do this flawlessly for 15+ minutes, like Levy does here.. yeah, that's hard, I can't do that. Probably just comes with years of training and experience.
As a 1400 I can go firm what the first reply said is not bs
"i don't know if i'm happy, i still can't tell" resonated with me
She raised her hand to shake hands while the man was blindfolded 💀
Incredible from the mom being the grand master, the music, the shirt, the frog blindfold, the laughs

does anyone else remember the endgame at 15:06 from danya's endgame video?
kinda feels nice actually seeing this again
“Do you see now cause I don’t see” 😂 I love than everyone was smiling after that
15:13 for anyone who's interested this endgame is the exact same one that Daniel Naroditsky showed to Andrea Botez in one his lessons (the video was called "Master Endgame chess stratgies ft Andrea Botez" chapter four). The winning idea was to play Qe2+ (instead of Levy's Qa8+) and then after Kg1 (Kh3 Qg4+ Kh2 Qg3#) Kg3! and white can't defend the mate on f2.
Yes! You just beat me to it. It's incredible how useful his lessons are, since these situations covered can arise in real games (as seen here).
I wonder if he would have seen it without the blindfold
Probably would have seen it if he didn’t think he had no time lol
Sorry so black was winning?
@@magnet_ft_rylles No, Black was never winning in the endgame. White missed a winning chance with Qe2+ setting up the inevitable mating pattern. Qa8+ made the position equal after the miss.
I have no idea how you guys are able to play blindfolded ... hats off Levy

Wasn't a draw at all...more pieces = win! He was just being nice I guess...
Pia is smiling like, "Is this what you call chess noobs?"
even blindfolded hes unstoppable
The blindfold is something else, the music, Levy with an absurd amount of head movement, and then Anna tells Pia to give her the advantage. This is some good shit!
