You could not be more wrong about the SUV/Truck market here in the states. ESPECIALLY old Land Cruisers (FJ60/62s sell for $25-30k here in Seattle all day long). My neighbor across the street just got a sweet early 90s 4WD Toyota van for around $11-12k and of course Delicas are a rare exotic sight along with the kei trucks for in-town driving. The market hasn’t really developed around here for the Chaser/Soarer/X-Chassis (yet) but I’m sure it will be blowing up very soon. Seattle is a VERY promising market for JDM imports, especially anything 4WD w/diesel.
I had one of those 4WD Toyota Tercels (the Carib you looked at). It was a very high-quality-built car but the deal breaker was the 60 or so hp 3-AC engine. 1452cc of pure nothing doing. I killed 2 of those gutless mills until my mom had pity on me and sold me her 3-yr-old Outback, which felt like a space ship compared to the Tercel on my trip back to school. The Tercel 4WDs are longitudinally mounted so you could do an easy engine swap considering it was (mine was an ‘87 model) carbureted.

The cars here are amazing! Any tuners that end up at the dealer auctions in America are usually either really messed up or broken.

23:27 I remember these when I was growing up in the early 90's. Can't remember if it was marketed as a Tercel or a Corolla but they were pretty decent for what they were. Definitely gave the 80's gen Subaru's a run for their money.

That was me talking about the Type X Tail Lights. In Australia we where only allowed to Import the Later model Type X 180's with the Twin late model tail lights.
So as far as i knew, if it didnt have those tail lights, it wasnt a Type X, as sooooo many cut and shut dodgy 180's claimed to be back in the day here in Australia.

Roadsters will def make some sales. Like the Beat, and some of the "toaster" cars could make for good little hipster vehicles. Haha also, being in SC Look into 4X4 vehicles. Farm trucks are always needed.

It's crazy how these prices are skyrocketing at the moment. Not only of Skylines but even cool JDM cars in general. I hope the bubble will burst anytime soon though. Always dreamed of having an R32 which was quite affordable a couple of years ago.

I think the market will be small for a gto or mr2. Even the roadster unless it will be sold for cheap under $7k.

The hardtop on the Supra is what will help it sell the most. You're right that NA+Auto is the least valuable. I've had 3 Supras since 1999 and will always have one in my garage. My 1998 was just the feature/cover car for the Sept 2019 issue of DSport magazine. Maybe I'll have the R34 shipped to the Defend USA location and grab it from you there.
Automatic N/A supra > no supra... Maybe LS swap it or RB swap just to hurt feelings.
Gt4 St205 is the best for the US market. People just don't know how hard to get your hands on one of those underrated cars.

Eh, I think 'roadsters' are still too common here to be worth anything special in the US. If the fastback coupes weren't super-rare I'd be interested in one of those, potentially, though.

I think there's a huge market for the low mile sedans/VIP cars. All of the LS400's in the states have either been beat on by teenagers or have 200k+ miles. Also anything AWD will sell in the PNW.
I think that Toyota is a tercel 4WD pretty dope actually they have low and high gears like in off road trucks and such

Oh, the little Toyota wagon, we had something similar in a 4wd Tercel wagon, people liked those. (I think they were all SR5 trim but I forget if they had a special name otherwise.)

wheels in your suitcases? it's doable but a major pita hauling around lots of suitcases or big boxes. I've brought back crankshafts and other parts but you have to be careful the parts aren't greasy or have gasoline or compressed gas in them. Airlines and tsa don't like flammable stuff on board airplanes. Shipping them back using japan post is really expensive, especially if its heavy.
You should stop by that luxurious part of the garage, no need to review any car just a glimpse of whats in their. We can call that segment"the forbidden garage" hahah

Good detailer can fix the paint on the supra NP. I think you should send all the NA Auto Supras to the US. Dont be afraid of a honda or two. It's the only brand I'll buy.

I would take an NA Supra with a good body. Yes, I vote to import a few. Some will not be afraid to do a swap.
All the mk3 supras please :) s14s and z32s are awesome i feel they will go up a lot they are very cheaply priced atm for what you get.

Auto NA Supra wouldn't bother me one bit.. I'd be more than happy to save the money. Yes it's not thee absolute best Supra but it's still going to be a good car..
Probably a auto will have seen less abuse so it's probably the smarter buy.
automatic & na supra is fine IMO as long as it's fairly easy too modify. (I mean its a supra ofc it will be fairly easy too work on with how the modding scene is for them.)
& nothing is mechanically wrong with it, nor is it having some weakspots compared too the turbo 6 speed that will be expensive too fix, like say a weaker rear diff or something ?

R32's are soooo easy to manual convert. But I guess here in NZ we have a lot more RB vehicles and parts.

R32 gtsts you see around 15-22k in the usa, the cleaner ones being higher of course, personally that white one, maybe 17k? Looked really nice especially the trims and the no dash bubbles, however i personally wouldnt like the gauges in the dash. I Paid 23.5k for my 32 gtr thats in nice shape, so it all depends i guess.

So JDM cars have to be 25 years before they can be legal in USA? If i remember correctly i think it's 15 years for here in Canada.

It seems like certain rhd cars sell ok in sc as long as they would be good for delivering mail. I know rhd Jeep Cherokees sell very quickly.

I think more people accept auto supras (even if they keep it auto) more than skyline gtt/gtst, is that the supra don't have any exterior differences from stronger models, while the gtt and gtst look cheaper than gtr 🙂
