I made my with 2% milk and only had to strain it for about 4 hrs. turned out so creamy. I'll never buy store bought again. thanks for the step by step directions.
Yes, a success story! Thanks for sharing and glad you like how it turned out!
Put the whey into a jar with a couple of strips of lemon peel and a couple of slices of fresh ginger and leave in the fridge for a day or so. Makes a delicious tangy refreshing drink
I loved this video!! I changed a few things but used your methods to make Icelandic skýr! I used organic whole lactose-free milk, and used Siggi's 0% plain skýr for my starter. The cultures in skýr are a bit different, and it can be super thick and creamy. It tastes great with honey or fresh cream.
I have watched about 6 yogurt making videos before watching yours. I think yours is the most straightforward way and very well explained. Thank you so much for making this video!
Thank you, I appreciate it! I'm so glad this helped you; hope you love your yogurt!
I used your video to help me make my first batch of yogurt. Your instructions are clear and concise. I used Fairlife whole milk so I wouldn't have to strain it. It came out perfect! If you've noticed that your "views" have suddenly increased, it is because anytime I see a post from an Instant Pot owner on the Instant Pot Community Facebook page (or other electric pressure cooker page) who asks "How do I make yogurt in my Instant Pot?" I reply with my success story, attribute it to you and your video and provide them with the link to this video. Thank you! Cheryl 😊👍
How kind, thank you Cheryl! I also appreciate you sharing my video with others. I'm so happy to know it helped you!
Thank you I made this yogurt yesterday. I use a 1/2 a gallon Of whole milk, I strained it for about 5 hours while work., I came home from work and then mix it up with my mixer & added some bananas and a little sweetener and it was absolutely delicious the kids devoured it. I had to make up some more this morning this time I decided to do a full gallon.
Another success story; thanks for sharing! I'm glad it worked out for you and that your little ones loved it.
Thanks for watching!
I’ve been making my own yogurt for at least 10 years in the exact same way, except without the Instant Pot, it’s the recipe I was taught by my middle eastern parents for what we call labneh, except after it’s ready we drizzle it with salt and EVOO, we use it to make labneh and cucumber sandwiches, the best! I finally got this pot and look forward to making it with it! Thank you for the great tutorial!
I've heard of this and want to try it, but just haven't yet! Yes, we can definitely make yogurt without the Instant Pot, but I love how easy it is using one.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the great video. I made yogurt using my Instant Pot yesterday - pausing and playing your video all the way - and my yogurt is wonderful. I filled four 8oz jars with the yogurt fresh from the pot and strained the rest of the yogurt. Both batches are delicious. Delicate flavor and creamy texture. The small jars were actually like greek yogurt and the strained yogurt was like soft cheese. Thank you so much. I hate to read directions and this video was perfect.
+elainejan I'm so glad the video helped you! I'm more of a visual person myself so know what you mean about reading directions. The yogurt does turn out creamy and delicious, I love eating it with honey and sometimes berries. Yum! Now that you've made it, the next time should be much easier!
Thanks so much for watching and leaving me a comment!
Thanks. I have a competing pot made in Germany, but it has a yogurt function as well. For other non-Instant Pot users blessed with a yogurt function (usually a pot with 7 or more functions), this is what you do if you only have one option within the yogurt setting: Put it on Slow Cook and heat the milk to the 180 degrees that way. A digital thermometer that beeps with the right temp is helpful. Then cool, the same as in the video and then put the starter in, etc. My pot's yogurt setting will maintain the 115 degrees for as long as you set it for, and 8 to 8 1/2 hours works great. Then it cuts off (no "keep warm" as that will continue to incubate the new yogurt). I've only made two batches, and they both came out perfectly with this method. The Instant Pot does have the advantage of the "boil" function built in to the yogurt setting; but that can be achieved with other makes as well, as above.
Hi Michael, thanks so much for sharing this information! I'm sure it will come in useful. Thanks for watching!
Excellent tutorial, and thank you for the step by step explanations. I’ve made yogurt now several times, and it’s delicious 😋 I cook 9-10 hours and I strain 30 minutes to an hour . The longer I strain it, the thicker it gets, and I love a good thick yogurt 😊
That’s great! I’m glad you are having continued success with making yogurt! 🤗✨
I made this yogurt for the first time yesterday. It was also my first time using the instant pot. If had mine for months but was overwhelmed by it. Watch some of the videos, and I liked yours the best. I used 2% organic green fed milk and Siggi's plain yogurt. When I got up this morning it was perfect and creamy! Feels good to make something so good and healthy for you. I try to eat right and I work out 6 days week. Thank you Clarity for posting this video!
Just tried your recipe! It's a-mazing! So thick and creamy and delicious. And surprisingly way less tart than the grocery store version which is nice because it requires less sweetener to be palatable. Great video. Thanks!
Yes, isn't it?! I'm glad you tried it and love it! Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
I made this yogurt yesterday using your instructions. I did use 2% milk however since that was what I had in my refrigerator. The yogurt is delicious. Before my InstantPot, I was using a yogurt-maker with 8 little jars. The InstantPot seems so much easier, and you can drain it easily to make it into Greek yogurt. Love the taste, very smooth and creamy. Usually I add honey, but not even doing that with this yogurt. Thanks so much!
+Maureeb3 This is music to my ears. :) I'm glad you find it easier and love the results! Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Out of all the videos I've watched for making yogurt in my Instant Pot, yours is slow paced, easy to follow. I've made yogurt 4 times watching it every time as a reminder, and only had one fail due to my error. Thank you for an excellent video. I too save the whey and use it for biscuit making. It gives it a sour dough taste.
Glad you have helped you! I'm glad you had success with it! Oooh, I love sourdough ;)
You explain the procedure very well. Love the recipe !!! Thanks
BEST instructive video on yogurt making in an Instant Pot. only change i made is that i heat my milk in a regular pan on the stove top to temp and then pour heated milk into the silver inner Instant pot. put that pot into the sink filled with ice water to bring down the temp. MUCH faster!! thanks so much for this instructive video!
Thanks for your nice comment!
Yes, it's definitely much faster to use the ice bath method rather than waiting for it to cool on its own. Why do you heat the milk in a separate pan, is it because of the milk that gets stuck to the bottom of the inner pot?
nope. it's a larger bottomed pan so the milk is less deep and it heats much faster. but while cooling it down, by using the deeper IP, i have less chance of sloshing ice water in my milk while stirring it to cool down.
Makes perfect sense! Good thing you found something that works for you. :)
What you have made is yogurt "cheese" which can be substituted for cream cheese....you don't want to strain out this much whey if you want to end up with Greek Yogurt. It should also be strained in the fridge in warm weather. I have been making homemade yogurt, Greek yogurt, and yogurt cheese for about 45 years now. I can see where heating the milk would be easier in the Instant Pot. I use the microwave so as to avoid scorching the milk on the bottom of the pan. The electric pressure cooker that I just received is called a Power Cooker and I don't know if I can make yogurt in it or not. Definitely do not toss the whey. If you don't use it to make ricotta, put it in a jar and use it in a day or two in homemade bread or you can pour it on your plants, give it to chickens or dogs. You did a great job on the video. I am looking forward to learning all of the things I can do in this new electric pressure appliance....it is amazing!
I would like to use goat's milk, instead of cow's milk. Have you tried using goat's milk in place of the cow's milk before? If you use the whey in the yogurt do you continually stir it before eating?
With all of your years of experience, you should try doing videos. It is good to know why NOT to do so as to not waste ingredients. I bet you have valuable stories.
Do you ever add sugar to sweeten it when making it?
@@scoopyall2996 Honey is good.
Scoop Yall I am new to this..I think I read to add sugar afterwards...one good reason might be it is a matter of taste...
I avoid sugar as much as possible due to cancer...pet scans are injected sugar...they track cancer cells? Chasing after the sugar...
I just bought my Instant Pot! My husband makes me yogurt so this process is going to be much easier. We would use pots and a dehydrator. Now we can do it all in the Instant Pot! Thank you for sharing!
I agree, this simplifies the yogurt making process compared to using the stovetop. Thanks for watching!
You are my "go to gal" for yogurt making. Thanks for the great instructions.
Thank you, and you’re welcome! 🤗
my first effort, I used grass fed full fat milk and grass fed yogurt, but it was not Greek yogurt. I also didn't hear you say to refrigerate the cooked milk (which looked too loose) and starter until after I left it out on the counter all night to strain. still got 2 delicious usable pints. Next day, I used Organic Whole milk, starter from the last batch, and I refrigerated the finished batch overnight, which looked correct. It is the best Greek yogurt I ever ate!! I got about 5 pints. I can't wait to make another batch. BTW, my husband said it was the best thing I ever made.
I'm so sorry your first batch didn't turn out quite right, but glad to hear about the second batch! What a nice comment from your husband! :) Remember to keep a small amount out to use as a starter from your last batch.
Very helpful. Tried yogurt for my first use of the Instant Pot. I used Goat yogurt because it has a mild milky taste. I used to make yogurt over the pilot lights on my gas stove using a culture of goat yogurt from Arabia that I kept frozen until I wanted to use it again. I could only make small batches. Now I can make huge batches!
That sounds really interesting! I didn't know you could freeze cultures for later use. I'm glad you can make large batches now. :)
Another viewer asked about using goat milk in a previous comment, and she said it didn't work for her. I wonder if you did something different.
Success!!! I made it again and made sure my starter yogurt had “live” cultures. I let it strain overnight and it was actually too thick for my liking (but at that thickness, it would be the perfect replacement for sour cream). I added back some of the strained whey until it was the consistency I was looking for. Perfect!
p.s. I saved 2 TBS of the unstrained yogurt to use as a starter for my next batch. I will double the recipe next time.
Yessss!!! I'm so glad it worked for you! Congrats!!!
Sometimes straining for a couple of hours is enough, but the great thing is, you can always, like you did, add some of the whey back in.
Nice job on remembering to save a starter for your next batch!
I just got my Crock-Pot 6 Qt 8-in-1 Multi-Use Express Crock in the mail. I'm looking for great recipes to try. I will try this one for sure. Thanks.
Great, enjoy!
Excellent video. I really like the pace and simplicity combined with just the right amount of information. I've just gotten my Instant Pot, so looking at how-to videos. Yogurt is one of the things I'm most excited to make. Looking forward to trying it, and to learning from your other videos. Thanks!
Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you found my video helpful and hope your yogurt turns out great! Enjoy ;)
Thank you so much for this video!! Santa is bringing me an Instant Pot for Christmas this year *wink wink*.....so I've been binge watching UA-cam and learning all of the different things I can make using it! Can't wait to make homemade yogurt! :D
Oh how nice of Santa! What have you made in it so far?
aka Mommy... Santa brought me one for Christmas 2017!!! I can’t wait to make yogurt also. 😊. Happy New Year 2018 🎆🎊🎉. 😊🕊🌈❤️
aka mommy, so do you make yogurt or is it too much of a hassle and easier just to buy it?
I made this instant pot yogurt but I added a pint of whipping cream to my milk and start the process. I strain mine for over 24 hours till thick and like soft icecream. So delish.
Oh wow, that does sound delish!! 🤗
This author clears clutter by making this process easy and understandable, as well as all documentation accessible for each product. No guessing after this video. The clutter are these other videos that made the process confusing and impossible to follow due to improper and incoherent instructions that seemed as if they dug it up from midevil times of torturing people. Thank you for cleaning up the mess and making lives easier and not as painful to learn with your flawless execution of simplicity, clarity and cleanliness to your instructions and information posted.
Thank you for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful comment, your words mean so much to me, and made me laugh a little too! Hope you enjoy your Instant Pot!
Thanks for your video I made yogurt. Im happy with the results. Mine did not end as thicker than yours so I did not strain it overnight. I add 2 tbsp of good vanilla and as I said before its good.
+Mary Maldonado Great, a success story! Thanks so much for sharing that! I'm glad you like how it turned out.😉
My yogurt turned out great. This was my first time making yogurt with my new instant pot and with your excellent and very clear directions it turned out perfect. Thank you.
Awesome! I'm SO happy to hear that! Thanks for letting me know. :)
Thankful and making my first batch... Will keep you posted!
How exciting! Looking forward to hearing about the results!
Finally! A simple and detailed video for a beginner!
Yes! So glad you found what you needed! ✨🤗
I just got my Instant Pot today & I can't wait to try your recipe. This looks very do-able and I like that you use only 1/2 gal of milk. Very excellent video! Thanks!
Thank you! It's very easy to do, I hope you try it soon! Enjoy :)
This what my son in law whatsapped me after making him home made cheese cake with the yogurt and home made blackberry curd : It's so light, fresh and tasty. Literally the best cheesecake I've ever had, no joke.
That sounds like an amazing cheesecake! What a sweet son you have.
Great video! I like to let mine sit at 180 degrees for an hour before cooling to 115. It gives it a thicker texture I really like.
Hi, what setting do you use when letting it sit at 180 degrees? Thank you!
So sorry, I just saw your comment.
After the yogurt warming feature and the milk has reached 180 degrees the screen will read "yogt" when you will not press anything until it cools down. You can leave the inner pot in the machine, or take it out to cool faster.
I hope this answered your question! :)
Thank you for your reply. I added the cream thinking it would make the yogurt richer. 😀 I put the temperature on normal and set it again for 4 more hours and it turned out. Next time I’m going to prepare It exactly like you show. Plus I’m not going to start it at 6:00 at night! lol Thanks again!
I'm glad it turned out in the end! Yes, definitely plan the time it will take when you make yogurt! I either start mine late at night, or early in the morning. We need to take into account how long it will take to heat, cool, plus the 8 hours and make sure you won't need the IP for anything during that time.
Happy New Year!
Just got my instant pot and am trying your recipe as we speak! I am using fat free organic milk and total 2% greek yogurt.
I appreciate all the "tips" to avoid trouble. Very helpful. I would love a screen with short reminders of the steps, maybe at the end, as a quick reference to remind me of what you said. For instance: step 1: 1/2 gallon milk; step 2: hit yogurt/adjust/boil (watch for three blinks)....and so forth.
I will let you know how the batch turns out!
Turned out great! Not tart or lumpy! I was sure I was going to have to do a new batch. You are awesome. :-)
This was an excellent video. Thank you! I am eager to give this a try, and now I feel like I understand the process fully. I appreciate it!
Good video! Will try your technique! Thanks
This is the best step by step I have found so far. Nice work. Gonna try baking with the whey, too.
Thanks for the kind words! I hear the whey is great for baking!
Very good. You present extremely well. Thank you for the clarity. I made yogurt according to your specifications. A total success story.
TO the people who report runny results: Runny results mean your probiotics are mostly dead, and not much fermentation is happening. It means the yogurt you are using as a starter doesn't have much live and active culture action happening- which is what creates fermentation and what makes yogurt good for you. Try using the highest quality whole milk plain organic starter yogurt you can find, preferably grass-fed, local and not in plastic, if you can find it. All the flavorings and additives hurt the probiotic cultures, and they should be added AFTER the fermentation is complete (like with kombucha). And chose the yogurt with the greatest variety of cultures in it, which is also true when choosing kefir. Also, don't use Greek yogurt as a starter - the whey has been removed and the whey is where the real probiotic action is. Also, when you save the starter yogurt for the next batch, save it BEFORE you take out the whey.
within or without The most common cause of runny yogurt is using too much yogurt starter in the batch. Less is more when it comes to yogurt starter. Bacteria will overcrowd each other and the batch will not set properly. I do appreciate that you said to avoid to avoid Greek yogurt since it doesn't have whey. Previously I sold commercial yogurt and other fermentation starters.
within or without If the starter culture is bad or weak, the batch will get mold, smell and taste putrid, be slimy like snot, or have a foamy texture like a sponge.
Runny results also means it has been sitting outside for the long time. I make my yogurt in 4-5 hours . After boiling and mixing the yogurt I put the milk bowl in the microwave or in the oven .After few hours it is set and leave in the fridge for next one hour. It comes out like store bought.
Good to know!
Hello! This is a very nice video. I just have a question. The 2nd time that you put the yogurt into the pot to leave it in for 8 hours what temperature is it on?
Hi, great videos. I use a handkerchief to strain and also reuse the whey, which I keep in a jar in the fridge, for the next batch of yogurt.
That's a great idea! Thanks for sharing with us.
Jean-Pierre Fritz thank you! I’m going to try that! 😊👍
The way you did it
We call it labneh back home
I love your process it saves a lot of time
Thank you
Thank you, I've heard this! It is topped with olive oil and salt, correct?
I love the video. I use the 2 quarts of whole milk. I like Stonybrook plain whole milk Yogurt for the live cultures. I use 4 tablespoons for starter.. I don't strain it for Greek Yogurt. I when done, I put the yogurt into 2 mason jars , cook it down, and eat. It would be a little thicker if I incubated it in jars instead of the large inner pot.
Thank you!! Oh that sounds so good! Sounds like you have a good system down. :)
I made this Wednesday and am making my second batch now. Love it!!
Awesome!! Maybe you’ll need to make a larger batch this time! 👍😃
If I were to make a batch with a gallon of milk do I need to adjust the time?
No, the same time will do!
Thank you so much. I'm in the UK and I don't have an IP have a different pressure cooker and am a novice user, so getting lots of advice and recipes. I do have a yoghurt setting :-) Can't wait to try this as love Greek yoghurt.
Welcome! All the way from the UK!I hope this works in your pressure cooker; would love to know how it turns out!
That is way easier than I envisioned. My kids are going to really enjoy doing this! Thank you for the video :)
I've made yogurt with many different recipes, but this is by far my favorite. I've made it a few times now. The only difference is that I do it for 10-11 hrs.
So glad to know this! Does this make your yogurt more tart?
No, not really. It just makes it more firm. It's still very creamy & delicious. I use milk directly from our local dairy (we are more rural), so the milk is a bit sweeter & yummy. I think that makes a difference, as well.
Great video! I have made yogurt 3 times and have had so so success. Your recipe is the first one I've seen that calls for 2 tablespoons of started. Maybe that's been my problem. I'll give it another try! Thanks! Make more IP videos!
Thanks! I've also had success using less yogurt, 1T rather than two. I wonder why yours isn't working.
I just posted a video on Salsa Chicken! :)
thank you. Very clear instructions. Will try it day and let you know my results
Susannah Young probably. Mine came to temp the first time. I put in jars later when done / strained.
I enjoyed finding and watching the video. I've made homemade yogurt in the past, and strained it in a cheesecloth for Greek yogurt. But ur coffee filters seemed to work. Ty for such good instructions...
You're welcome, thank you for watching! I just love homemade yogurt, and knowing it doesn't have all the extras that store-bought yogurt has.
You're so sweet!! I just got an instant pot and this'll be the first and main thing i make right now (then I'll try natto.. can't find anything on that, alas). I've never used a pressure cooker so I'm a bit nervous, but you made it very accessible! I was so charmed by you, thanks :)
What a sweet comment, thank you!
How did your yogurt turn out? -- I have never heard of natto, so just looked it up. It sounds interesting!
I really hope you aren't nervous using your pressure cooker anymore, it just takes a little practice.
Thank you for the video. Make came out so creamy and delicious. I left it for 10 hours so I could sleep in the morning. Excellent job. I shared your video with my daughter-in-law.
I'm so glad yours came out well! Thanks for sharing it too! :)
This is an excellent video for making Greek yogurt
Thank you!
Thanks for the reply - I've made about 30 batches of yogurt & didn't scald it, but of course it's best to follow whatever recipe you have at hand.
Wow, I didn't know this. That's great it worked for you!! Thanks for sharing this info.
Thank you for this awesome video. Can you speed up the cooling process of the milk, by putting the pot on ice cold water? Did you put it to strain in the refrigerator right away of did you let it cool at room temperature first? Thank you
+Desafio InTheCity Hi! Yes! You can definitely speed the process of cooling the milk by putting the pot in cold water. I wouldn't necessarily use ice cold, because it does cool very quickly this way. I would wait till it's about 5 to 10° above the temperature you want to, then pull it out of the cold water.
As soon as I poured the yogurt into the strainer, it went in the fridge.
Thanks so much for watching and good luck with your yogurt!! 😀
Desafio In The City also some frigs let you make temperature colder temporarily
for hot items. May be helpful if in a rush.
Very nicely done😊
Your video was easy to follow, and I am going to go for it. Just got my "Instant Pot" admit I am afraid to use it. I will do this tomorrow. Thank you. Will let you know how it turns out. :)
Please don't be afraid! :) Did you try it?
Great clear instructions, thanks!
Happy to help!
I watched a lot of instant pot yogurt Video. But you did the best one. You explained it so nicely. I just bought instant pot air fryer. Do you have any instruction how can I make yogurt in it? It doesn’t have any yogurt option.
I just got my instant pot and joined a group on Facebook and so many people were talking about making yogurt. I was like, "What's up with making your own yogurt?". So now watching your video, I see how easy it is, and I like the consistency that yours has. My question, do you flavor yours at all or do you just add fruit/honey/spices when you eat it? Thank you!
+Diane Craig I usually just add honey to the yogurt when I eat it, sometimes I add blueberries, but I bet cinnamon would be good!! Yum!! You could also add any type of jam and stir it in.
I love making my own yogurt, it's so much cheaper too!
Really good video and simple to follow , thank you for making it
Thank you and you're very welcome!
I loved your video. Thank you for helping me make yogurt for the first time. You're awesome!
+Janice Cochran Thank you so much! I am so happy to help ☺
Thanks for doing this video. I will buy this pot and will follow your directions.
Great! I also have another video on how to do the water test here: ua-cam.com/video/8NcCbTvbbtY/v-deo.html Please know that you can do the water test with just 1 cup (8 oz) of water and it will go A LOT faster. I have links to the Instant Pot below these videos. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video. I used this last weekend. Was my first time making yogurt and it turned out great.
I'm so glad to hear it! You'll be ready for your next batch soon. :)
How long would you say your yogurt lasts in the fridge? And how long can you keep your starter for?
+Mary Chau I keep mine for about 1 week but have read that 7-10 days is the average. Same goes for the starter.
Thank you!
WOW. There are so many responses. Reflects the quality of the video. One of the first several posts stated to make ricotta out of the whey. I cannot find the recipe? Did anyone see the ricotta recipe? Thanks in advance for your help.
The first comment someone replied some information...I forgot the answer already..
“Heat up whey with another 2 liters of milk
Until curds separate
And spoon into strainer (I had screenshot answer with my IPhone).
I just made my first batch and I followed your directions to the T. It turned out perfect. If you wanted to double the amount of milk to a gallon do you need to dbl the amount of the yogurt starter from 2T to 4T???
So glad it worked out for you! 🥰 Yes, double the starter to cover the double amount of milk.
Thanks, I have a Faberware electric pressure cooker it doesn't have a yought setting but I will try to follow your main procedure.
Ps you could put the 2 tablespoons of starter yought culture directly in to the pot and whisk it . I do this when I make home made yought on stove top and then wrap it around in towel and put it in a warm place like the top of the hot water heater tank. It takes 3 hours only. I wonder if it takes less than 8 hours in an electric pressure cooker. I will experiment (with the keep warm setting in the Faberware cooker ) and let you know.
Thank you so much! Very easy to remember. I just purchased a digital cooker,. Planning to make my own yogurt, which will be so much cheaper!
That's so exciting! Warning...you may become addicted to making it! :)
I am also thinking of using full cream Jersey cow milk as it has cream on the top of the bottle. But it will be next week before I try and make it.
I’ve been wondering the same about Using cream line milk from my local dairy
I am attempting yogurt in my instant pot with lactose free milk.....it will be done in about an hour. :-D Thanks for your video! It makes it so easy to understand how to do it.
Hi Stephanie, I'm curious to know how it turned out and if you added any sugar. Reason being, from what I know, the bacteria that makes the yogurt feeds off the lactose in the milk. I think my mom tried this years ago and it didn't work.
Hi! The consistency was closer to regular yogurt, not as thick and creamy as Greek Yogurt. But the flavor is good. I think next time I might try half lactose free and half whole milk. Also, the yogurt that added as the 'starter' was at the bottom of the container, was a little runny and had been in the fridge for a week or so. It was probably not the best sample to add. haha. But it wasn't a total bust! Thank you! I love your videos!
Great video. Incredibly helpful to someone still scared of her instant pot :). Thank you!
+Candy Molyneux Thank you! I'm so glad it helped you, and can certainly understand the fear. You'll get used to it, just give it a little time! I'll post more videos on the IP when I can, so check back or subscribe if you'd like. :)
Yours is the easiest one to follow. Mine turns out beautifully. I like to strain mine though coffee filters too because I like it really firm. I have it strain overnight I don’t do anything with the whey either. I keep the finished in the fridge, put a little fruit on the plate or even fruit preserves
Yes! I just love it that way! Thanks for sharing :)
Hello, I don't know if you read the comments however, my yogurt does not work. I have thrown out so much milk. It never gets as thick as what you show on this video. I have just one successful time I had thick Greek yogurt. What am I doing wrong? Do I need a newer Instant Pot? Any suggestions, I would be grateful. Thank you, Cynthia
Awesome, I love that your approach is totally different than the types of things I have been making! I can't believe what these things can do, thanks for another great idea:)
+Ruby Rouge You're welcome! I just made some yogurt last night ☺️ I definitely use it for cooking, but love that I can make yogurt in it too! Have you tried anything new recently?
Nothing new recently. We are trying Brauts and Sauerkraut tonight, I am curious how that is going to work! We made some killer chicken picatta last week. It is unbeleivable how good the sauces/jus/gravies are when you make them in a pessure cooker. So flavorful!
Thanks this was more helpful than the Instantpot.com. For example, I’m glad you reminded me how to clean the pot with a steam before starting. Enjoy each day :)
Oh, you're so kind, thank you!. I'm glad you found this helpful!
Looks delicious, thanks for the tutorial!
Hi Rebecca! You're welcome, I hope you try it! :)
having had success, happily, with your dairy yogurt, I'm hoping you might have a recipe for Almond milk yogurt? Thanks :)
Same instructions just instead of using whole milk use almond milk.
Do you let it set for the 9 hrs on the counter or in the fridge? Do you eat it plain or add fruit & does it hold up if you do that?
+Linda Drew Definitely refrigerate it while straining. It can be eaten plain, with honey/agave/maple, and/or with fruit. Any way you like it! Yes, holds up well.
I loved your simple video. I made the yogurt for the first time yesterday following your instructions to the letter. The flavor was great BUT it never thickened up much. What did I do wrong? I let it strain for about 5 hours in the fridge.
SO sorry, I am just seeing this message! In my video, I let the yogurt strain overnight and that's why it was so thick. Have you tried making it again, or did you strain yours longer to make it thicker?
I have just ordered an Instant Pot and can’t wait to get it!! Has anyone tried making yogurt with coconut milk?
Hi Jill, I have not tried in the IP, but it sounds good!!
Clearing Clutter for Clarity, I’ll let you know if I try it and how it turns out 😁
Sounds great! I would love to hear the results!
nice video- clear and concise - thank you! Have you ever made it in individual containers in the Instant Pot? Have you ever used yogurt starter powder?
Hi Kelly, and thank you! No, I've never made yogurt in containers or used a powder starter. I know both of those methods work...I should try it!
My favorite Instant pot yogurt video. I will let you know how mine turns out I'm excited to try it.
Oh, Kim, I'm sorry I never saw your comment! I hope your yogurt turned out great and that you're making lots of great things in your IP!
Here’s a tip. Make it a honey yogurt. Then dish it up and mix in Chis seeds and shaved almonds. Omg. I don’t know what makes this combination and crunch so good, but it is amazing.
Yes! Honey, chia seeds, and almonds. This sounds delicious! I love the crunch. :)
First attempt last night (and first use of my IP) with 2% milk and a yogurt starter kit. Did as per video, for 8 hours. It did sit in the pot 1 more hour after being done since it was done at 4 AM! Ended up with over a mason jar full of runny yogourt, and now the rest is draining (will see the result when I get back home from work). Been doing a lot of research this morning. I read that starting from a starter kit can cause runny yogurt the first batch because your bacteria is just waking up. So a couple of things I'll try. I'll try with a sample from this batch, to see if it gets better, will also try one using store-bougth yogurt as my starter, and I want to try with 3.25 milk to see if it makes a big difference. May also try with a new starter kit and do just the time that it says on the package, as the package did say to let it go for 4 hours. I did 8 to follow the video and also figured the IP must have been made to take those general instructions into consideration... not sure now. All that to say that there are more trials on the way as I'm determined to get this right!
Sounds like you've had quite a time! Did you figure it out?
I think trying it for 4 hours like your package said would be best. Best of luck to you!
@@clearingclutterforclarity1508 Hi! Actually I tried a second batch that same day, starting with yogurt from my first batch, and it came out perfect consistency! Still 2% milk and still 8 hours. :) Left it to drain for about 4 hours in the fridge and result is perfect!
Wow, I'm so happy to hear this! Now you can enjoy your delicious yogurt!
Thanks for sharing i just want to ask how about if i dont have that machine how can i make it. Sorry if i ask such question.
Hi, you'll find a video on how to make yogurt without an Instant Pot in this playlist! ua-cam.com/play/PLzYbU176GYmL7EtaA1-xhqBFEm7Qptxno.html
Wow you made it look so easy. Thank you x
Hi Bil, it IS so easy! :) You can do it! Thanks for watching!
It looks. more like a chese.!!
It is worth making your own yogurt home, since yogurt is so expensive in the markets.
THANKS for the recipe ...
Thanks for watching, Neba! It does look like cheese! These days I don't strain it as long. I agree, store yogurt is more expensive.
Excellent video. Questions answered before I ask, thank you
Happy to hear that! Thanks for watching!
Can I use skim milk? Thanks
One recipe I read said 2tbs of starter for a GALLON of milk... I want to try your recipe, but want to make a gallon. So would you recommend 4tbs?
Thank you 😊
I think 2-3 tablespoons of starter yogurt should be plenty. 😀✨ I don’t really measure it anymore but would say I use roughly 1 T for 1/2 gallon of milk.
Clearing Clutter for Clarity thank you!
You're welcome :) I'd love to know how it turns out for you!
Clearing Clutter for Clarity turned out perfect and it was my first time ever making it so thank you for the thorough video. 😊 I strained it using the kleynhuis Greek yogurt pouch. I got it off amazon some lady created it by sewing a mesh material. Super easy.
I love this! Thank you so much!
I hope you find a way to use your whey though -- in smoothies etc it's so healthy!!
You are very welcome!
I'm sure some people will make good use of the whey, but not me! :/ I'm lactose intolerant and in fact, just researched this again to confirm what I've read in the past. This is taken from Livestrong:
"The primary sugar carbohydrate found in whey is lactose, since it's derived from dairy foods. If you are lactose-intolerant or are otherwise avoiding lactose, do not include whey derived from yogurt in your diet."
Before I knew whey came from milk, I always wondered why whey protein didn't sit well with me. Now I know! :o)
Awesome. I just joined the instant pot club and am excited to try this out.
Hi Paul, I hope you love your IP! Thanks for watching. :)
Excellent video. I am wondering if I can use active culture capsules instead of Greek yogurt for the recipe. Will I get the same affect?
Thank you! I believe you can, but don’t know how much to use. I’ve used them for non-dairy yogurt so think they’ll work for this just fine.
I am making my next batch now. yes, I have been using the last batch for my starter.
Great! :)
Looks Great gonna try this for sure! 🌸
Great! I'd love to know how it turns out for you. :)
Your video is wonderful! Thank you so much. You've convinced me to make my own yogurt!
I'm so glad you've decided to make your own yogurt! Hope it turns out nicely! :)
Thanks so much for this video! If I want to make coconut Greek yogurt, would you add unsweetened coconut to the strained yogurt or do you need to also use coconut milk. Do you add a little regular whole milk and some coconut milk and let the sit in the instant pot for the 8 hours. Then after you strain it, add in a little unsweetened coconut? Thanks so much for your time and knowledge. Cynthia
coconut milk never worked for me.
I think I tried using coconut milk (such as Silk) before and it didn't work, this was a couple of years ago. I was trying to make lactose free yogurt but was unsuccessful with this type of milk.
The one that did work for me, without the use of the Instant Pot was coconut milk typically used for cooking, and a probiotic. However, this took MUCH longer (days) than regular yogurt and didn't thicken much.
I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you. Have you tried the FB IP group or searched online?
i love the liq too!!! thank u.can u please show how to use elec pressure cooker? i bought one year ago.don't know how to use it.can u please demo urs?
Hi! I have a few videos on this playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLzYbU176GYmL7EtaA1-xhqBFEm7Qptxno.html
