I agree, December '83, Horden Pavilion. Last Stand Tour, Final Night. Best Concert of the 80s, saddest night of the 80s. I'll never forget when Mossy started singing Georgia.
Ian Moss just released a new album in November last year...he is super talented. I love Don's songwriting but he doesn't get enough credit for his piano playing. The variety in Cold Chisel's music is mind blowing...they touch so many different genres. I suggest one of my favourite Chisel ballads, Sing to Me.
I'm very impressed with your introduction. Thanks for checking this stuff out. There are other live versions of ''Georgia'' that Cold Chisel do, and there is some Ian solo performance too. I'll leave that up to other commenters to do.
Hi @OnceWasRStrathfield - Thank you for the compliment. If I do an artist or a song, I like to give a bit of history. I will pull more from the list you sent me as I move through the Cold Chisel catalog. This was a great choice and video, but I will admit it is not what I expected. Take care Ryan and keep rockin' ...
@@drivingwithtodd1781 You'll find they're not always what you would expect. I hate how some reactors give up on the band after second or third listen. It's quite annoying. Then again, some Cold Chisel fans make nasty comments, so it's hardly surprising that people give up on them. I'm glad you're still on the trip. You also take care and keep rockin' Todd.
I remember that when the single came out, my friends and I were so pleased that Chisel's version of "Georgia" was finally on record but, to me, that "single" recorded version didn't sound as great as I expected. A better recorded version is on the Cold Chisel album "Barking Spiders Live" and this video version (above) is one of several good ones on UA-cam.
Spectacular. But here is an even better version of mosseys Georgia on my mind. He played after the gig WA over, and after the cameraman put down his camera. Then he picked it up again. This one is from 1983, filmed by the cameraman ua-cam.com/video/NhFXjzRRv4w/v-deo.htmlsi=BGwdbK0pUwE_0Vt4
Hi @LizzieRD ... I think I saw this one listed on UA-cam. I was thinking this would be the next reaction I would do for the song "Georgia". Thank you for the information and rock 'n' roll over ...
May I add that the footage had been in the can for thirty plus years before being synced and found a life of its own. YES! This is amazing , better than you can imagine. Please, if you can just even play it for yourself if nothing else. Keep up the great work, you are super appreciated
In my humble opinion, this is one of the best versions of "Georgia" ever recorded. It is incredibly hard to believe that Ian Moss is not a completely homesick Georgia native finally making his way back home after decades away. He sings it with such passion, such longing.
Another rarely viewed song by Ian Moss is this gem from a memorial concert of the late Andrew Durant of the band Stars (who are from Adelaide like Jimmy Barnes). The concert was in 1980, and included Ian and Jimmy from Cold Chisel as well as an array of other Australian musicians. One of the most stellar concerts out there, and apart from Knocking on Heavens Door, Andy had written all of the songs. He had passed at 24/25 years of age from Melanoma... RIP Andy 🕊️ Ian slays this tune 🎉🎉🎉🎉 ua-cam.com/video/SjSpVGd5dzs/v-deo.htmlsi=H9eMK-15O0UmpuvI
Ian was the singer until Jimmy Banes joined the band, they shared The lead role from there. Aussie Pub bands payed their dues in the pubs, haddn't got signed, got kicked out if not good enough, the buzz they created made the record companies sign them.
Todd, a few times in Cold Chisel… it’s just Don & Ian or Don & Jim….. another Song that features Ian & Don but it’s real short is Plaza …..if you are becoming a fan of Ian’s singing and playing….Nullarbor Plain…. From Ian’s new solo album….. plenty more Cold Chisel to come Enjoy.
If you like this you should listen to the last song on Ian Moss's second album, "You Know Who You Are Tonight". Its available on you tube at ua-cam.com/video/33D86DMna_c/v-deo.html (or through google if you are a bit link-phobic).
Saw him last month and he did this at the end of the show. His voice is better and so beautiful
I’m going in a month 🎉
Love it ❤❤ but the 1983 version is my favorite performance. It wasn't on the play list but Ian did it anyways.

Soul, blues, rock you name it and Cold Chisel have it. The 1983 live performance by Ian Moss is even better in my opinion
That version is a class above tbh. This is "good", the 1983 version is "the best possible version of the song ever, by anyone ever past or future".

If you love this version, you’ll be knocked out by the Barking Spiders live album version. Mossy knocks it out of the park. Stunninb
Its really nice to see quality reactions !! Please, please react to the 1983 performance !! You will not be disappointed !!!

Look how young they are in the 70's just how i remember them Ian and Don so young
