Hey! Love the cornstarch idea; I'm going to try it! If you want the mold cure even faster and be as stable as caulk alone, you can simply wash the cure extender out of it. You need to start with 100% silicone caulk (not the kind that is supposed to be touchable in 3 hours or less; the kind that is the original simple 24 hour cure) and Sunlight dish soap (don't know why sunlight works best). Get a bowl of water, add a bunch of soap (you don't want suds, just add the soap directly to the bowl of water once you've already poured it), squeeze caulk into the bowl and mush it in your hands for 1-2 minutes until it starts to hold its shape. Then just use it to create your mold. This is the technique I use when teaching intro sculpture classes at university; it produces pro-quality molds at next-to-no cost!
+Cindy Baker WOW Thank you so much I am going to try that! I would love to do a vide3o on it if it works for me successfully as long as you dont mind! I appreciate the input! Thanks for watching!
This is an awesome idea. I am gonna try it. I am self taught for acrylic nails. Now that I've got my techniques down I'm all about the bling and add-ons. Thanks soooo much. I have a ton of buttons that would look so cute on acrylics.
I would love any designer logos you have like the channel or LV ! That would be so awesome. Your so smart to have thought of this 💋 Ps the uv gels are all I use in my silicon molds. It works perfect
OMG, you're awesome Doddi! I can't believe you created the putty for the molds! I'm gonna try that when I run out of my amazing putty! OMG girl, you're gonna put them out of business! lol. Thnx so much for sharing this discovery! Take care hun ;)
Okay so far this is the best diy mold vid I've seen. I haven't tried it just yet but the cornstarch makes sense. Can u share how u painted in the pinkish hello kitty? Thank u!
Thank you so much for supporting me all this time. I appreciate you watching my video and leaving a comment, you can find these little things if you search nail art or 3-D resin nail art. You can find them on Amazon or eBay some nail stores online might have some. And you can even find some cute little 3-D things that are small enough in Michael’s that have a flat back. Enjoy.❤
If you're not already you should have an etsy store and sell them. Make moulds to order and sell or sell the items you make in the moulds. Genius idea :0) x
Hi PinkLadyNailDesigns Great idea, I think I will try making my own mounds, when I do get round to it, I will let you know how they come out, thanks for uploading this video x
TFS This is such a great idea. But where did you get the resin pieces? I have been looking for hello kitty pieces everywhere. You should add this to your website and sell them.
love this idea.. will try.. I'm going too watch ur video again BC I want too buy a couple of resin pieces from you, if your willing too sell some so I can make my own molds... hugs
Just a suggest... if the acrylic is curved at the back with the sides being higher than the middle and or pressing the center back of the nail art will help it sit on the curve of the nail more easily. Love your idea. Have subbed and put this video on a list of mine. Thanks!
LOVE this!! Seriously - this is great. Sorry, but I'm SO doing this with the skulls that you're sending to me (FX it gets her today like it did last time!) :) SUPER excited to try! Plus, my hubby is really artistic, so he might be able to make something out of modeling clay and make a mold from there.
I LOVE this idea and I can't wait to try it!! honey, can you tell me about how much silicone to how much starch? do I just squeeze some onto wax paper then add the starch? H and L for you!! :)
Pour a pile of starch onto the wax paper, and then squeeze like a Quarter sized pile of silicone onto it then work it until it isnt sticking to your finger, and the consistency of clay, a very very soft clay.
Hi PinkLady. So I tried making 2 molds. At first, I thought I hadtoo much corn starch. Then realized it wasn't enough. They I finally created a ball, placed my items to mold. When it dried, I removed them. Then the mold broke And like crumbles. Is that from too much corn starch? Have u ever had that problem
yes too much corn starch. It really doesnt need to be worked too much, I will try to get a good way to measure , since alot of people are having this issue.
You might have bought the acrylic caulking instead of the silicone ( I did that at first same problem ) don't give up after you get the hang of it it's a lot of fun
hehe I know! I will still sell each mold if someone asks me, I dont get many requests for molds though! Check out my glitter store thoughfor glitter and nail art I have for sale, glitterlovers . com.
hi I have a question, would you be willing to make me some nail molds, that I can buy from you?? the problem is for me I don't have little objects to put inside the molds lol

Hello. I know I'm late to the game and haven't read all the remarks. Try using silicone 1. Believe it's less brittle than silicone 2. It does smell though. I haven't tried this yet but will within the week. Doing my UA-cam research. :) GOOD LUCK!
Someone lifted your video. :( I reported them for lifting 2 of mine. Here is the link Molding In Detail. Silicone DIY Nail Art Mold Please report them too

Oh, be sure to keep your hands a little wet/soapy while youte working with the caulk so it doesn't stick to your hands.

Acrylic is a monomer and polymer mix used on nail enhancements :)
OK... thanks anyway I will still try this... great idea!!
very creative why do the molds look yellow?...tfs
Im not sure it is something that happens when you ut the corn starh in maybe because the silicone I am using is clear and not the white one.

So how much corn starch did you use to mix together?
it all goes by feel when it stops sticking to you , your good! Don't add too much so that they get brittle. you'll have to get a feel for it.
I LOVE this idea and I can't wait to try it!!
honey, can you tell me about how much silicone to how much starch?

H and L for you!!

Ok. I saw other vids saying u can add a bit of oil. I will experiment. Thanks
You might have bought the acrylic caulking instead of the silicone ( I did that at first same problem ) don't give up after you get the hang of it it's a lot of fun
