AMAZING !! I watched my first PotA when I was 8 years old and was HOOKED. I am 63 and still love all of the movies, story line and making of these movies. So thankful for all how this was achieved.
Had been really exhausted by the franchise, but this one really moved me. The performances of the apes had such humanity and pathos -- kudos to the actors and effects teams. As someone who loves animals and is cynical about most human beings, this one posited some worthwhile questions. I might even see it again and I haven't seen an apes film twice since the very first one.
saw this film last night at an early access screening. i didn’t have very high hopes, but i was blown away. truly a piece of art. really felt like the Avatar 2 of the apes franchise
Would love to see a full version where we can watch the film in mocap mode. I don’t think enough people give credit to how hard it is to work in mocap, and additionally, how difficult it is for the “normal” actor to act in response and opposite to the mocap. Film, show, and video game.
Man, between this and Dune part 2, I can't decide which will win the best vfx oscar next year. Or maybe there will another contender later this year. We'll see.
This one holds up on a small screen much better. I really noticed the CGI in the stadium scene. It was just too clean looking and the crowd didn't look random enough.
Sorry the comments on this video are buckass wild . People are so bitter and rude. Great video! I loved this movie, and I'm excited for what else this franchise has to offer (and I say this as someone who is very cynical about movies, but this reboot series has always favored quality over quantity)
Fantastic video. Man, I learn so much from these. You should work for the studios in their marketing department! You make me so excited for these movies coming up!
Pretty much. Honestly, all of those articles make it so hard for us to do good research. Lots of misinformation around this industry and we learn a lot when we fall into it 😅
I realised that dawn of the planet of the apes and kingdom of the planet of the apes the heroes and villians in both movies are the same Proximus and Koba because both are apes are both use Caescar's words to under to control not lead ape together strong and Caescar and Owen but leaders of their tribes fighting apes ❤
We did something on that a while back. Might cover it again at some point. But basically they used those to kill reflections on the waters surface that would confuse the IR cameras for the mocap gear. But, the balls are opaque so the it cameras can still see through them.
I was exited until I learned that Disney is handling it. So now I'm worried that they will destroy it like they've done to star wars , marvel... But I hope it comes out good.
Is Caesar prince of apes?and Will we find out that noah distant direct descendants from Caesar in future sequels because he lookalike Caesar and does noa have Caesar birthmark?
I still don’t quite get, or can’t really wrap my head around, why they need a camera on the actor’s face to capture this motion. Why not just build the faces from scratch…while still doing their due diligence and research, obviously. Very little information from the actors face is carried over into the final print.
Oh god so Disney has its hands in the planet of the apes franchise. Even though I enjoyed kingdom it’s my least favorite of the 4 films. Now I know why 😂
Are we supposed to pretend the last 40K years didn't happen because it's to quote 'cringey'??? What the... can't handle a film that depicts racism? We have to pretend now that people in 1968 didn't discriminate against each other and don't now? Stuff like these statements about being cringey and hard to watch now are shameful. The channel should apologize to people for the real cringey comments made in this review. The 1968 film was an allegory of what was going on, they had the guts to make it, and it holds nothing back, unlike the just for entertainment stuff made today. It should never be described as 'cringey' as though it's the film that's racist or celebrating racism. Shame on the channel for that! Don't review To Sir with Love or Look Who's coming to Dinner will you guys, because there's black people being depicted there too struggling with race. I guess Dr King is cringey too
From the director to the DP, Production Designer to the executives, numerous VFX people, etc and still nobody gets the fact that the further away a subject is, the slower it moves to our eyes. Why are the apes going up the trees so fast in wide shots? It is unnatural and it looks fake. Mo-cap work is great, facial movements are believable, performances are amazing but when they cut to that wide shot of the apes, please SLOW DOWN the MOTION!!
The CGI sucks. What complex VFX are you even talking about? The old movies, the movie 2 and movie 3 were not bad though. Thanks to James Cameron and Avatar’s technology.
I mean... Andy Serkis doesn't have anything to do with the "CGI" element of it, just the performance capture. The same VFX team that worked on the others worked on this one
It is complex because the VFX production team did not use AI. Soon AI will dominate the VFX industry like AVATAR once did for its higher productivity and better quality.
Are you excited to Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes?
I’m hoping we do get the possible new trilogy, and that it comes full circle to the Icarus rocket landing back in a future ape earth.
I'm going with my mom on opening weekend to see it. It's my Mother's Day gift to her.
I saw it yesterday, 9/10 for me
Yes! Very excited!

So it's too long, kinda boring and brings nothing new to the table and fades from memory a couple days later, just like Avatar 2?
@@Houswal that’s a crazy take that i absolutely don’t agree with 💀
@@HouswalI think when he was comparing it to avatar 2, he was referring to the visuals
@@dragon9slayer250 I mean, the apes look worse and less realistic than the previous films

Oh he is planning on releasing that with the DVD release I believe!.
@@FrameVoyager Wooh! Support physical media! Cinephile collectors together strong….and possibly pretentious at times.
I'd watch Dawn that way for sure.

Well seeing how Planet of the Apes gets snubbed every year I think Dune Part 2 is gonna get the win
Absolutely no comparison. Kingdom is light years beyond Dune 2 in terms of CGI, and therefore should get the Oscar.
Yes but you know the fucking academy so...@@peterlenham3180
This one holds up on a small screen much better. I really noticed the CGI in the stadium scene. It was just too clean looking and the crowd didn't look random enough.
In movies like this it's less than 20-30% from the mocap and 70-80% of interpretation from the animator's observation and artistry.
So happy I found ur page man
Random Guy Ritchie pic at 7:33 😂
Not complaining. Always here for Guy.
😅😅😅 I have no idea why that photo is there. The only thing I can think is maybe the asset went offline and reconnected to the wrong image 😅

@@FreakyFraser1 sometimes we dredge sites for photo assets when collecting stuff for the video. Somehow his photo got in there 😅

I'm surprised by the many clipped from a movie yet to be released. Looks incredible. Great insights.
It's helpful when it's a long running series and we can reference footage from past versions that tie into what's happening for this one 😅
@@FrameVoyager I referred to the new film clips, lots of them. Well done.

Much appreciated!
magazins like screen rant would still say something like: "this movie was made entirely without CGI" and people would believe and praise it

appreciate it!
at this point, i’m just waiting for charlton heston to show up.
Leave it up to Disney to take something that was laid to rest, desecrate its grave, urinate on it, make a bowel movement on it and laugh.
It was a great movie!
dude....mouseguard looked awesome
Am still making my mind up which is my favourite..it's a hard one..🤷🏾♀️🫶🏽💯Love them all..❤❤❤
7>32 Bruh that's Guy Ritchie LOL
They also used special filters and design decisions to give Kingdom a decidedly 70s style look, harkening back to the originals ~
Saw Kingdom yesterday. It’s ok. Wasn’t blown away by it.
I want to know more about that swimming pool filled with ping pong balls.
