It was big for my childhood as well. I also watched it again before making this video. But it's not a disrespect to the film in general, I still like it. And I also believe that the tornado in the second to last tornado clip was based off of the El Reno EF5 because that did cause a tinny ef0 fire tornado

@@HumanHamCube i literally didn't 😅 I called it a landmark in visual effects history. I just pointed out it's not like the "greatest movie ever" Compared to Jurassic park, how would you view this movie?
I think you were wrong about the original. I was a kid when I seen it from the first time and I reenacted the scene in the dirt with my hot wheel cars every day.
It is also not “shifting east,” at least not indefinitely. Dr Ted Fujita documented this as cyclical in the mid 70s (74 or 75). Not getting worse (no EF5s in 11 years!). I expect this nonsense to be in the movie and I’m just hoping it’s not totally in your face.
@@joshmo1744 indeed, but I’m so tired of all this climate catastrophe and how everything is getting worse, when it isn’t. It’s become like a religion, it has nothing to do with facts and stats, but feelings and virtue signalling.
The "shifting east" aspect of it has yet to be tied to climate change. Based on models it's been shifting 150 miles east since the 1800's so it's more of a naturally occurring shift. It has more to do with the the areas that are seeing the "largest increase in tornado frequency" Which are in southern Mississippi, middle Tennessee, and south west Kentucky. That also has been found to be more of a shift from warm weather season tornados to more cold season tornados. I'm no climatologist of course, so all I can do is read the studies and examine the data and the validity of how the studies were put together. It seems worth looking at these newer studies and determining if other areas should prepare more for this regional increase in tornados. Here are some studies that show the shift "not talking about climate change": Study overview: www.scientificamerican.com/article/watch-out-tornado-alley-is-migrating-eastward/ Recent peer reviewed study which is not based on climate change: journals.ametsoc.org/view/journals/apme/aop/JAMC-D-23-0143.1/JAMC-D-23-0143.1.xml
@@FrameVoyager second link lists Dr Greg Forbes as an author. Dr. Forbes was a student of Dr. Fujitas at the university of Chicago and certainly a reputable source for this kind of research.
Well look at that! Unfortunately, most of this "climate change" or weather related shift talk always get wrapped up into politics. I've always been more of "rely on actual studies and research over rhetoric" kind of person haha.
@@ShoNuffKMW 😅 not meant in a disrespectful way. I just think there are other 80s films like Jurassic park that hold up better. But I'm also not saying it's "unwatchable" I just think people, including myself, have a lot of nostalgia around it from watching it as kids It's still and excellent film!
@@ShoNuffKMW sorry about that 😅 sometimes I get so deep in these scripts I say things from a position in my head and don't realize how it comes across. Good note going forward when I say things like that haha.
Bro you immediately lost with some of your opening lines: Twister isn’t remembered as being the: “best thing ever” while showing an iconic and hilarious moment with the cow. As if that scene isn’t also terrifying and immediately remembered as a great moment.
Meaning it's not the "best movie ever" type category. It's not taking away from what it is, it was a great movie that was instrumental in pushing along vfx and showcased really impressive cgi for that time. But beyond that the films dialouge was fairly awful and the acting performances at times were not great. It still was a great movie. Just trying to be honest about the overall viewpoint audiences and critics have about that film. It's a classic for sure, but it's still a flawed film
Not saying that it isn't still a good watch, but I just think there are other 90s films that hold up better. Like Jurassic Park, it's more effective overall the way it uses visual effects. The CGI in Twister, unfortunately, couldn't be replicated with something practical or miniature and that's really what hurts it imo. I'm not saying it's a bad film, but I think it's right below what I would categorize as a film that "holds up". But I still love the film!
The tornados in the Original Twister movie looked more realistic than Twisters. Also its not exactly a standalone, it is acrually a bit of a sequal, because if you looked at Dorthys number in Twisters, it says Dorthy V, they used of the first 4 Dorthies in the first movie. Dorthy 4 being the one that gets them the data in the first movie, when they set the truck to drive into the F5
The reason they look realistic, is because Reed timmer (famous storm chaser/meteorologist.) help with the film, the car that Tyler use’s is kinds of like the dominator ect.! But overall it was great!
The movie lost me at the very beginning when the wind strong enough to suck Kate’s boyfriend out of the overpass wasn’t even strong enough to blow her hair.
haha that's a nice catch. Honestly that part of it was surprising considering they had a jet engine for parts of this but didn't use it then? I kind of wonder if they filmed that part after the actors strike and had to rush to get it done. Because I think that's one of the scenes she's referring to filming later in the year.
If "TWISTERS" does really well, I pray they don't start a Twister universe hahah I LOVE the original and REALLY LIKE the new one, but if we get a movie called Twister: Revolution or something... Well... I'll probably still go see it 🙄
@FrameVoyager i had no clue going in without watching the first one. Im surprised they didnt use that in the marketing like they did with Jordan Peele and Monkey Man
What's this "Best Thing Ever" comment all about. Yes, Twister is absolutely remembered as one of the best ever. The Kid who made this UA-cam channel probably wasn't even alive in 1996.
@@LafreniereJ 94' actually. I didn't know being 30 was still considered being a "kid" 😅 appreciate the compliment. But what I mean by that is it is not on the same playing field as like a Jurassic Park for example. It's a good movie, but it has some problems, especially in the dialogue, that while it has good moments, drags the film down a bit. But beyond that, it is often not mentioned in the "top movies of the 90s" by both critics and audience reviews. I love the movie personally, but it is definitely a film that has some nostalgia around it and I think that changes the perception of it. It's one of the best disaster movies for sure, but that doesn't necessarily put it in the top of the top. No offense towards it and a film I still personally enjoy a lot!
Sure, there was green screen and cgi in the film as is the case with almost any film that is made in 2024. The "Intense" part comes from the loads of on location filming and stunts they did in combination with the visual effects.
3:59 "It's a completely original story." Lol, Lmao even~ What are they talking about? It is precisely the same story with a few things tweaked. Entire sequences AND plot threads are ripped almost verbatim from the original. "completely original" Lolz, why call it "Twisters" then? whatever, that aside... I did enjoy it, I liked it, it was a great tornado movie but it doesn't live up to the original, if it didn't have the Title implying a connection i wouldn't have been bothered as much.
This is the worst movie I have watch in a long time. So many things done wrong and the first 2/3rds of the movie was like watching an old JAWS movie where you know something might happen but that doesn't. Also very predictable from the start to the finish. Also very very bad acting. I was really excited to watch it and even more disappointed after watching it. Pay attention to the UHF radios on the dashboard in ALL of the trucks. None of them have an antenna connected but somehow still works. The cowboy drives his truck through a barbwire fence and magically goes through it without damaging the fence. The cowboy in his truck stopped is about half a mile away in one seen but as soon as Kate turns around to get in her truck the cowboy drives in front of her. That's just a few things the movie was terrible. I give it 2 out of 10.
Well, this video made me think a whole lot less of Helen Hunt... Saw Twisters last Saturday, and we had a fun time. Glad she had nothing to do with it.
Terrible, terrible, terrible movie. Corny awkward cringy and overall terrible writing. Ehh, acting. The only parts worth watching imo was the cool scenes with storms or tornadoes. About walked out of the theater honestly
I'm all for diverse castings. I think diversity brings fresh perspectives that are desperately needed in art and storytelling. But how she describes her idea for the story comes across as patronizing and strange.
@@FrameVoyager - yeah nobody wants to see all white casts everywhere. But the color of the cast has nothing to do with its story, its theme, its direction. Casting should be done to fit the characters, not used as puppets. Same thing with female casts. This is why Annihilation worked and Ghostbusters 2016 or Oceans 13 didn’t. One film used a full female cast and integrated it into the story. The other 2 used them to pat themselves on the back. Which is basically what Helen Hunt described.
@@kevinandrewsphotoYeah, to me it always just comes down to uninspired writing and studios constantly doing retread sequel or reboot films. Films like Nope, Everything Everywhere all at once, Furiosa, etc. show what you can do with a diverse cast and storytelling. If Helen Hunt had more of a reason to want a diverse cast to fit the story it would have been fine. Like one aspect she could have talked about was the lack of diversity within meteorologists. Maybe the story could have been about inspiring different kids of different background to get into meteorology. But to telegraph that's what you're doing is bizarre
Hunt was going down the DEI rabbit hole and taking Twister with her? Glad that didn't pan out then. It would have only tanked the IP, especially these days. Nobody wants woke Twister, or woke anything. The market has spoken.
You had me interested before you said "climate change". The climate has been changing since the beggining of time. No shit the planet is warming up. We are still on the tail end of coming out of an ice age derrrrr.
Just relaying the bts narrative and the inspirations for aspects of it, not my person opinion. Though I would personally agree on the science and research behind climate change.

She can’t rejoin the gang, the gang’s all dead 🥰
The gang is dead and Dorothy was incredibly out of place. They used it in the first scene as nostalgia bait.
Twister wasnt a bad movie. Why trash it?
@@HumanHamCube i literally didn't 😅 I called it a landmark in visual effects history. I just pointed out it's not like the "greatest movie ever"
Compared to Jurassic park, how would you view this movie?
@@FrameVoyagerI’d watch Jurassic Park over Twister, but Twisters over Jurassic World Dominion
@@FrameVoyager Twister was the Jurassic Park of disaster movies.
Seen the film a few weeks ago and I enjoyed it. Plus Glen Powell.😍😍
It was a nightmare making the first movie twister 🌪️
Watched it on IMAX & loved Daisy Edgar Jones ❤
My dad said he didn't like the cast of the new twisters!
I can't wait to get this movie in my home theater!! ATMOS
I wonder if this one will have a Van Halen song?
Probably not considering it was Twister itself that caused Van Halen to split back in the 90s.
NOPE!
Loved this film! Will watch anything with Daisy post Normal People
I think you were wrong about the original. I was a kid when I seen it from the first time and I reenacted the scene in the dirt with my hot wheel cars every day.
Awesome video!! Always enjoy your thoughtful content commentary
Appreciate it!
The amount of tornados peaked in the early 1990s in the USA and has since then trended downwards.
Here are some studies that show the shift "not talking about climate change":
Study overview: www.scientificamerican.com/article/watch-out-tornado-alley-is-migrating-eastward/
Recent peer reviewed study which is not based on climate change: journals.ametsoc.org/view/journals/apme/aop/JAMC-D-23-0143.1/JAMC-D-23-0143.1.xml
By the looks of the Director, I did not expect him to speak English
We also need a video about Longlegs 🎉
Almost gave you a thumbs down for saying Twister doesn't hold up today! Don't ever say crazy shit like that, again! 😒
@@ShoNuffKMW 😅 not meant in a disrespectful way. I just think there are other 80s films like Jurassic park that hold up better. But I'm also not saying it's "unwatchable" I just think people, including myself, have a lot of nostalgia around it from watching it as kids
It's still and excellent film!
@@FrameVoyagerOh! Okay... 😎👍
@@ShoNuffKMW sorry about that 😅 sometimes I get so deep in these scripts I say things from a position in my head and don't realize how it comes across. Good note going forward when I say things like that haha.
i dont get it, why they chose to shoot on film if the end result looks like averege digital movie?
Bro you immediately lost with some of your opening lines:
Twister isn’t remembered as being the: “best thing ever” while showing an iconic and hilarious moment with the cow.
@@FrameVoyager what? the performances were fine
Pls make a 2nd!!!!!!!!!
This movie was pretty good some annoying moments but overall pretty solid
The first is a classic
💯
Twister doesn’t hold up? Surely you jest
@@FrameVoyager Jurassic Park isn't a disaster movie.
She actually just has Osmium for hair.
What a dumb take
You Upload The Production Of Inside Out 2
If "TWISTERS" does really well, I pray they don't start a Twister universe hahah I LOVE the original and REALLY LIKE the new one, but if we get a movie called Twister: Revolution or something... Well... I'll probably still go see it 🙄
A little bummed they didn't have Kate as the daughter of Jo and Bill. But a lot bummed that they didn't do an in remembrance to Bill Paxton.
ew, super glad they didn't do that
Loved Twisters. Surprised to see Steven Spielberg being executive producer for it
I mean, Twister was his idea and the IP belongs to Amblin
@FrameVoyager i had no clue going in without watching the first one. Im surprised they didnt use that in the marketing like they did with Jordan Peele and Monkey Man
@@sassycaterpillar6631 It is kind of surprising they didn't use him in the marketing that much.
Isn’t it interesting Twister was the firm film on dvd and the new movie comes out the same year as dvd and it things like Redbox going away. The irony

@@FrameVoyager Blasphemy.
@@LafreniereJ 😅 honestly not my opinion but from what I've found in researching the previous film which we did a video for
My only wish was that the characters in this film became storm chasers because they saw Twister. Nope.

"Just saw it and it was great"...
"Saw it 5x already!!".
Pathetically fake.
Hunt’s proposal would have been so cool! 🙄 Hollywood can be so frustrating.
"Diversity": Who gives AF?
Intense cgi and green screen! 🤣
Sure, there was green screen and cgi in the film as is the case with almost any film that is made in 2024. The "Intense" part comes from the loads of on location filming and stunts they did in combination with the visual effects.

The new Twisters movie was easily THE WORST MOVIE I HAVE SEEN IN THEATERS
that is just the perfect movie: no woke crap, no cursin, no sex... just a simple, american story that does not shit on the original.

Same story. Someone hears a great script... poo poos it... then all of a sudden there's a brand new film! Plagiarising bastards.
10/10 best movie I've ever watched, just cause i cried cause i hated how loud it was which was lowk fun, second everyone in the movies so hot
I wouldn't watch it for free.

Boy, we avoided a disaster with that Helen Hunt idea! So cliche!
Well, this video made me think a whole lot less of Helen Hunt... Saw Twisters last Saturday, and we had a fun time. Glad she had nothing to do with it.
The original Twister is way better
O waited them to kiss lol
Anyone else glad Helen Hunt did not get her woke version made?
"Climate change"... LOL. These people never stop.
Terrible, terrible, terrible movie. Corny awkward cringy and overall terrible writing. Ehh, acting. The only parts worth watching imo was the cool scenes with storms or tornadoes. About walked out of the theater honestly
Saw this movie yesterday, it is dog shit...
Cry about it, its great
So glad Helen Hunts horrible idea never became a movie lol
Thank you God they axed the diversity quota idea, the cast was perfect.
Well there was NO intensity in the script writing and bad acting.
Helen Hunt so cringe. Her pitch was seriously “Twister but everyone is black & brown except me. But I will die”. That’s not a pitch.
Hunts idea for a sequel was AWFUL. Thank god they didnt do that 🤣🤣🤣🤣🗑️🗑️🗑️🗑️🗑️
I wouldn't watch her twister, like who cares bout diversity, just get good actors
This movie sucks so bad it's incredible. Dodge rams are the heaviest thing on the planet 🤣the amount of bullshit in this movie is in unfathomable
Hunt was going down the DEI rabbit hole and taking Twister with her? Glad that didn't pan out then. It would have only tanked the IP, especially these days. Nobody wants woke Twister, or woke anything. The market has spoken.
Trash of a movie
You had me interested before you said "climate change". The climate has been changing since the beggining of time. No shit the planet is warming up. We are still on the tail end of coming out of an ice age derrrrr.

Though I would personally agree on the science and research behind climate change.
Climate has never changed so much so fast before. Of course, climate is always changing but this time we can't deny our implication in making it quicker
