Love Great America! I remember when it opened up in the summer of 1976. It was operating as Marriott’s Great America back then. Two coasters remain from opening day…the Whizzer used to be called Williard’s Whizzer (named after Willard Marriott) and was really great at night. The Demon used to be called Turn of the Century when the park opened and was converted to the Demon in the early 80’s. I remember when the American Eagle was built in 1981…it was a really big deal. That Aquaman water ride goes back to opening day, was called something different then. It’s a great park that really has a great selection of coasters now. Was sad back in the 70’s though because when Marriott’s Great America opened up, it caused my favorite local amusement park to close…Dandelion Park, just west of Milwaukee in Muskego. Thanks for the memories!
I live in Illinois and this park was always my favorite through the years. The Whizzer was always my favorite to hop on and just enjoy. Especially that spiral lift. Back in the days (80s) they use to have a monster arcade full of all your favorite arcade games. That alone made me revisit a zillion times. I really miss those days. Thanks for posting this!

I use to go to Six Flags Great America during the summer every year. I moved out of Illinois in 2012. I don’t know what changes made in the park but I’m glad some old roller coasters still present. I did remember Shockwave roller coaster at the time before torn down and placed in with Superman. Space Shuttle America was my favorite theater ride…RIP 1994-2007. It was used to be located next to the go kart track at the front of the park. The Viper and Whizzer I used to go on a lot. American Eagle carts used to go backwards until they changed it back to forward. It’s a shame the antique car ride was removed…it use to go on there.

Nothing wrong with Culver's, but we need to get you to Nebraska so you can have Runza (or get them in all 50 states; currently they're only in Nebraska, 2 in Iowa, 2 in Colorado, and 1 in Kansas). When I lived away from here, I'd have their signature sandwich shipped to me. It's that good.

My wife and daughter both work there and are supervisors for the park. There are a lot of cool things you learn from them from the backstage perspective. I grew up going there in the 70's 80's etc. we grew up in the northwest burbs of Chicago and spent many a day there over the summer. If you are interested in doing the tour of Six Flags parks, let me know because they get free access and parking at all of the parks and Cedar Fair parks now also.
I’d def be interested in seeing a series of Six Flags’ visits, this one in IL is actually one of the few I haven’t been to yet. Def recommend saving the TX parks for a cooler time of year though, I used to work at 6fFiesta (San Antonio) and it being built inside a quarry makes it great for 🎢 rides but not great for 🥵 … there is a water park attached tho, so that’d be neat to see you experience the two of them together. Arlington also has some fab rides, you could go at same time of year as the TX state fair 😏 Also agree with other commenters that spreading the wealth across other US or international Disney parks would be cool to see to spice it up
You also need to look at the signs in the queue line, the regular line, to know what to shoot to get you the most points for the battle for metropolis ride.
This was my home theme park as well. I remember going there after prom....way back in 1988!!!! Whizzer was my first roller coaster and I thought I was tough crud when I went on the Demon. LOL. This was fun. Memories for sure!
SFGA is my home park so I truly enjoyed your vlog. I was 11 when batman the ride opened in 92'. Now I get to see the smiles on my kids face which is priceless at least every weekend.
Unfortunately Half those rides I would not go on but as long as you’re having fun that’s all I like to see the food look OK as always a great time thank you Kyle for all the really hard work you do for us your fans
Battle for Metropolis USED to be a 3D ride. I was very disappointed in the change. I was told it's because they can't/won't sanitize the glasses in between rides. There were no instructions on what to shoot because you bypassed the normal queue with Flash Pass.
Whizzer! Lol....oh the trauma of having to ride with a stranger in the weird seating as a kid when we had an odd number of us 😂😂😂 Glad you guys had a fun time!

So much nostalgia! I’m from Wisconsin so this was my home park for my entire childhood. Now we live near Orlando, Fl and I live in theme park heaven. But thank you, can’t wait to get back to this park sometime soon.
21:27 Wisconsin cuisine 🤣🤣 ain't no way is that better than anything in Illinois. Portillos wipes the floor with Culvers
I think visiting all the six flags parks would be cool. A fun way to incorporate your viewers would be to have a “hometown expert” show you around their park! Since you are our expert for us on Disney, you could let them show you their best way for visiting their park. Just an idea. Keep up the great content!!
OMG, that’s SUCH a good idea! If Kyle doesn’t do this, SOMEone should!!
I really do hope he sees this 😁
Yes. I would love you to go to all of the Six Flags Parks!!
Would love the six flags videos !! I went to six flags in Mass. when I was younger & it was so much fun! Curious to see how things have changed since then !!

Omg yes y’all come to NJ our six flags rocks
Man Kyle it's good to see something a little different bc you live in Florida but I get it, you can't just travel whenever but yes, sixflags have wooden coasters so they are bumpy I hate them sometimes bc they are bumpy and I bang my head sometimes but I still love Six Flags. I'm at the one SuxFlags St. Louis of you ever come to STL let me know and I'll be there

I love six flags. It's my go to theme park! Next time I go, I'm going on Goliath and X flight. Last year I wasn't tall enough but now I am! So I'm looking forward to those 2 rides!
Crazy seeing this park. A lot of the old rides are pretty much identical to great amaerica in San Jose where I grew up. Great video!
23:39 oh wow, I used to live right around there, only a few blocks from that church on the left ( Stanislaus)!
Missing my loving husband so thank you for bringing me a fun summer day! Loved all those names of the coasters!!!😇😇

Yes please go to Six Flags Magic Mt. CA. Heading out there Monday for my Birthday!! It has the most roller coasters! I’d love to visit Illinois and my family in Wisconsin! One day!

I absolutely loved seeing this, THANK YOU! Brings back so many childhood and high school memories and the park still looks really great.
My park. Grew up in Elgin. About 1 hour from Gurnee.

Thank you Paulo. Gotta work so we can make another appearance in Disney.

@@PauloNavarro That's a great idea. I will have to put in a request🙂
I used to love going to Great America as a kid. Great vlog, brings back so many memories!

Hey 👋🏻 Kyle. Really, really love this Vlog!! I feel like I’ve been through EVERY ride with you. Thanks for taking us on this journey. Your hair after the Max Force though….😆😆😆😆!!
Another great Vlog. Love how your mom was asking about you filming her 😄😄😄, she’s super cool.
Can’t wait to see Wisconsin Dells tomorrow, Same Kyle Time, Same Kyle Channel!!
P.S. also come to six flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA. I’ll meet you there.

Six flags is very nostalgic it’s fun to see different rides in different cities ,I miss astroworld!!
You need to check out cedar point and kings island
Arlington also has some fab rides, you could go at same time of year as the TX state fair 😏
Also agree with other commenters that spreading the wealth across other US or international Disney parks would be cool to see to spice it up

16:15 that you in the second row is flipping them 😂😂
Kyle, watching you ride that scary roller coaster made me face my fears this past weekend and I rode Pantheon for the first time ever!
Thank you for this video. My family and were here 27 years ago. We loved Six Flags Great America! From Minnesota
I don’t recommend taking your phone on rides, it’s against the rules at most parks and it could fly out of you hands and really hurt someone
He has a selfie stick strapped to his arm those are allowed
Christian
There’s also selfie sticks with straps that your allowed in rides.
I live in Gurnee. Six Flags is just not the same. We’re going to Disney in September

🤣🤣🤣

You should check out Knott's Berry Farm in CA next time you go to Disneyland (and eat at Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant)
If you go to Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio make sure you check out the Schlitterbahn water park in New Braunfels right down the road. Since you love water parks it should be a fun one for you. :)
