Anybody else just going through another Regina Spektor phase completely unprompted? Just got Samson stuck in my head last week & kaboom, right back to this channel
On the radio, has an ear worm that has a rent free place in my head. Right next to Dixie flyer, Randy Newman and guitar gentle weeps, George Harrison, can hear a sleepy DJ at just about any point. Just a lot of the ear worms are jamming in there.
I feel it coming along. I heard an artist that seemed so familiar because they sound a lot like Regina Specktor so yeah! The Staves brought me back in 2024
I'm crying. This song represented how good time it was. The time when everything seems fine and easy for me. Just school and homework. The time when my mom still around with me. With us
Back here after 15 yrs .. i was obsessed with the melody .. for some reason it only makes me think of the play about the statue in my so called life...
For me, this song is simply about us humans being subjects to society, feeling lost throughout our lives. This song celebrates that sense of confusion and how everything turns our into this story that the people in the future can look up to as something nostalgic but they can never fully understand and end up staring at us with a sense of familiarity...
Yeah, I think the video is messed up. The description is advertising her album that came out in 2016, but it says the video was published ten years before that. Maybe they update the descriptions of these? That seems weird though...
Greg Dawe ROFL! that shit again xD ..haven't seen any of her videos despite I've heard her since around 5 or 6 years ago, and now after that freaking dress.. your comment just made this video hilarious xD
Fidessa Isiko Isn't it funny how that happens? I've always loved her....but at just the right time her music started meaning something more to me. So, back on another Regina kick and listening all time!
Her songs take me to a place where it feels I've come back home. The fireplace is lit, there's an old, worn out piano in the corner, photographs of memories on the walls. I take a deep breath and enjoy the coziness of it all.
Me too. But my parents played her on repeat in 2006/2007 and took me to see her when I was like 11. I just saw her for the second time in august, it brought back a lot of memories. They’re divorced now but she’s still home.
I used to listen to this song when I was 14 and I never understood the lyrics nor paid attention to it. Now I’m 2022 and the meaning is completely different. Not only do you discover new things as you get older, but your perception changes of what you’ve already discovered.
@@ryanoneal8480 judging by the comment they’re clearly younger than 13. They probably don’t understand how that could be seen as kind of weird to comment, cut them some slack. As long as they’re enjoying her music that’s all that matters

I think the name is quite telling. "Us", to me, stands for "US", which is the first letters in "USA" and "USSR". Both have been described as dens of thieves by the other, and both of whose ideologies were considered contagious. They were both, in their times, seen as newfangled and blamed for almost everything ("They'll say it's all our fault"). The statue reference refers to both the statue of liberty and the edification, even deification, of the leaders of the Soviet Union. So I think she's singing about both the nation she was born in and the nation she chose.
She actually has expressed that she does that on purpose! Shes said that she loves everything about New York and tries to add a bit of the accent here and there in her songs
I was in high school when this song came out. I didn't have money to buy her cd at the time, so I would have to wait for this video to load and I would sit and listen to it for hours! Regina Spektor was the best part of my day!

So happy that movie brought so much awareness for Regina Spektor. I’ve loved her since I was 12. Finally got to see her live a couple years ago. She’s soooooo amazing!!
This song is so catchy. Indeed. did you know? She was a refugee who fled her natural born country USSR. Something to think about when it comes to immigration. This song has a very deep meaning. us people , US , United States, den of Thieves , Statue of liberty , slave labor , eternal sleep , parts are slightly used (refugees who escape to another country ) , rummaging through the pages ( immigrant laws ) . ..... No wonder I see many people comment that they do not understand the meaning of the song.

You introduced me to Regina Spektor, thank you for that. You left an imprint on my heart, being in fast moving world I want to relive my memories and listen to US on loop.
Just NOW realizing that her dad makes a cameo at 3:09.... A cameo in his daughters first music video.... Omg :,) #emotional
Really? Good catch!
What are emotions?
She is so great! Hidden meanings in her lyrics, like Michael Stipe of R.E.M. Love her :)
Pure and deep wisdom in this music. Amazing voice, almost a spell.
This is not a love story, it is a story *about* love.
This song marks the end of a love affair 13 years ago. I'm still here listening to it today.
Love this song thanks 500 days of summer👌👌

Time is a thing.
Art never stops.
Обожаю Региночку.Без понтов, гонора, хорошо поёт, никого не копирует..молодчинка.
What a fantastic video. Much respect to this creative, wonderful woman.
Some people are so closed minded to artists this is not creepy it's how someone feels.
Art isn't supposed to make you feel a certain way, it's just supposed to make you feel. The recipient's feelings are their own.
wrnchhead76 this guy/girl gets it
beetwick I wholeheartedly concur, much as schools are supposed to teach children *how* to think, not *what* to think...

This woman is remarkable. Too deep, and yet accessible. Love her!
My God, what a voice!
What a Beautiful and Sweet song!! It sends chills throughout my body! It reminds me of the beautiful things in life. And hearing this song in the movie “500 Days of Summer” deeply reminds me of all my bitter-sweet romance experiences LOL 😆 ♥️
She's so dang adorable! her face is just beautiful. her music is equally so.
playfully inviting, intoxicatingly emotional, tragically felt
500 days of summer
