Yes and no....the song brings back the memories and not the person, but the memories are just as important as the person. Every single person that comes into your life will influence you in one way or another, some people more than others. Those who we have romantic attachment towards carry special significance even long after they leave us. I can speak for myself in saying that I dedicate this song to someone special in my past, because she taught me that there is someone out there for me. Even though it ultimately wasn’t her in the end and she’s long gone (I doubt she even remembers me), I haven’t forgotten that lesson she taught me, even now that over a decade has passed and I thank her for that. This song reminds me of my time with her, but more importantly the lesson I learned from her. Even though she wasn’t my only exception, I’ve learned from her that there is an only exception out there for me. I think of what we went through and even though we may have needed to go our separate ways, there’s no reason to believe that what I went through with her can’t happen again. I am 28 now and when I was 14 this was among my favourites. It's amazing how music takes you back to your childhood in a pure and magic way. I don't want to go back to those days, I just miss the days when my mother was healthy and I was happy next to her. Now, there is an empty space as she passed away after being ill for very long.

I never listened to Paramore until I met the first girl whom conquered my love. We were on our way back from Six Flags, 5 months into our relationship, she played this song before falling asleep on my lap on the car ride home. I grew up listening to this song whenever I feel lonely, yearning for solace as a child. And now, I am ending my 2023 with, "I'd never sing of love if does not exist." This is my mom and stepdad song for their wedding. When I heard for the first time in years I cried because I've never seen my mother so happy in her life after her first divorce. This man she is with makes her so happy and honestly when he's around she lightens up because he wasnt like other guys who didnt want to date her because she had kids. Paramore was the first band i remembered lyrics to almost every song. I was in middle school and watched the premiere of thats what you get and fell in love. Found ep's, bought the twilight soundtrack just to hear them, and just had a really happy feeling whenever i listen to them Fast forward to 2021 im 26 almost 27 still listening and still in love. They got me out of bad times and made many work shifts bearable when i feel defeated. I honestly don't know how i would've turned out without discovering them.

During the week she killed herself, I couldn't go to the funeral, I've not visited her until now, after her another person I know did the same thing. I always cry listening to this song, because I remember of her and this other person... Usually people say that suicidal people go to "hell" or whatever. But those people suffer so much to the point they prefer taking away their on life, I think, and hope, that God knows what each one of them feel and what lead them to this.
That's so sad... May their souls rest in peace :'( And though I don't believe in hell, I don't think god would be cruel enough to send them to hell just because they committed suicide when they were actually such good people. They just didn't have enough strength to handle all the pain and depression.
I completely understand how you feel. My brother did that. We were a grade apart. He seemed so happy that day. I knew where he was going. He was going to party with his friends. It wasn't weird or anything. We grew up in a college town, so that was kind of tolerated to an extent. My mom got a weird feeling that night and begged me to tell her where Nathan was. I wouldn't. He was 17. I was a month away from turning 16. I didn't want to tell on him. His friends were my friends. I knew he'd come home. He never did. I went to school the next morning and I remember Margot, Mallory, and Lauren pulled up to me in Margots car and they said ," Ian. Your brother's car is at Hickory Lane Park and there's a ton of cops there" I knew right then. I went by my house first and I walked in the door and I saw my mom. Broken. She couldn't even say the words. I ran out the door and went to the park and it was roped off. I could see him lying in the divers seat motionless. He put a hose through the tailpipe. Carbon monoxide poisoning. His note said.. ""Well guys, I guess you knew this was gonna happen. Tell mom and Kristen I love them. No one here gets out alive" We had no clue. If only I had told my mom where he was that night. Anyways I'm sorry. I don't know you. I haven't said this in almost twenty years

This song always makes me cry because when my parents split up my mom left my dad and I stayed with my dad. I chose to because i thought he needed me more. He wasn't perfect and my mom had a valid reason to leave so I don't blame her. I was 17 so I was old enough to understand. I had to watch his heart break and watch him try to get his life back together. I watched him drink and go on a spiral and then leave me for weeks at a time to go see his girlfriend after a few months. He eventually healed, but our relationship was never the same because i basically raised myself my senior year of high school. The first part of this song hits me in all the feels.

Yes and no....the song brings back the memories and not the person, but the memories are just as important as the person. Every single person that comes into your life will influence you in one way or another, some people more than others. Those who we have romantic attachment towards carry special significance even long after they leave us. I can speak for myself in saying that I dedicate this song to someone special in my past, because she taught me that there is someone out there for me. Even though it ultimately wasn’t her in the end and she’s long gone (I doubt she even remembers me), I haven’t forgotten that lesson she taught me, even now that over a decade has passed and I thank her for that. This song reminds me of my time with her, but more importantly the lesson I learned from her. Even though she wasn’t my only exception, I’ve learned from her that there is an only exception out there for me. I think of what we went through and even though we may have needed to go our separate ways, there’s no reason to believe that what I went through with her can’t happen again. I am 28 now and when I was 14 this was among my favourites. It's amazing how music takes you back to your childhood in a pure and magic way. I don't want to go back to those days, I just miss the days when my mother was healthy and I was happy next to her. Now, there is an empty space as she passed away after being ill for very long.

I never listened to Paramore until I met the first girl whom conquered my love. We were on our way back from Six Flags, 5 months into our relationship, she played this song before falling asleep on my lap on the car ride home. I listened to this song all the way to her house and my love for her bloomed ever more. We nearly lasted 2 years, rocky towards the end, even so, even now, she is the only exception for me.

I remember to listen that song when I was 12/13 years old and my parents was passing through a caotic divorce. The lyrics was so similar with what I was feeling in that times. Also for a long time I thought the scars wouln't be sealled and I wouldn't be able to love because I was so scared... "I'm on my way to believing" it's exactly what I was feeling.
Today I'm 24 and I know that love exists. Even if you feel scared you have to face it. It can break your heart sometimes, but also there is a lot of good things in love. After all life exists to feel!
I remember listening almost on loop to this song when my mother passed away 12 years ago. I know it's a romantic love song, but for me, this song will always remind me that maternal love is the purest exception and form of love.

This is my mom and stepdad song for their wedding. When I heard for the first time in years I cried because I've never seen my mother so happy in her life after her first divorce. This man she is with makes her so happy and honestly when he's around she lightens up because he wasnt like other guys who didnt want to date her because she had kids. So now for their next anniversary I'm going to sing this song for them. Seeing them is so happy and if you have parents that aren't dating someone because of an divorce all I have to say is that it will get better and that you just need to help them when they need it or to see if the person they think is right.

I became obsessed with this song in 2013 and its music video. I watched it at least once a week, never thinking Id find a guy who made me feel this way. Now in 2022, sleeping next to my "Only exception" with our daughter in the next room. Bliss. Cute to think of the "me" version from 2013.

Paramore was the first band i remembered lyrics to almost every song. I was in middle school and watched the premiere of thats what you get and fell in love. Found ep's, bought the twilight soundtrack just to hear them, and just had a really happy feeling whenever i listen to them Fast forward to 2021 im 26 almost 27 still listening and still in love. They got me out of bad times and made many work shifts bearable when i feel defeated. I honestly don't know how i would've turned out without discovering them.

I have a lot of relationship fears because of my parents failed marriage. She was focused on her own happiness instead of our family unit. Everyday since she left him I’ve had to watch him suffer that pain. I’ve only been in one serious relationship and I wasn’t enough for her in a lot of the same ways. I got left. Last yeat I lost a friend that was a big fan of Paramore. She was the best person I've ever know, always smiling and never wished bad things on others, there was no way that we (her friends) would know that she had a severe depression.

During the week she killed herself, I couldn't go to the funeral, I've not visited her until now, after her another person I know did the same thing. Usually people say that suicidal people go to "hell" or whatever. But those people suffer so much to the point they prefer taking away their on life, I think, and hope, that God knows what each one of them feel and what lead them to this.

I completely understand how you feel. My brother did that. We were a grade apart. He seemed so happy that day. I knew where he was going. He was going to party with his friends. It wasn't weird or anything. We grew up in a college town, so that was kind of tolerated to an extent. My mom got a weird feeling that night and begged me to tell her where Nathan was. I wouldn't. He was 17. I was a month away from turning 16. I didn't want to tell on him. His friends were my friends. I knew he'd come home. He never did. I went to school the next morning and I remember Margot, Mallory, and Lauren pulled up to me in Margots car and they said ," Ian. Your brother's car is at Hickory Lane Park and there's a ton of cops there" I knew right then. I went by my house first and I walked in the door and I saw my mom. Broken. She couldn't even say the words. I ran out the door and went to the park and it was roped off. I could see him lying in the divers seat motionless. He put a hose through the tailpipe. Carbon monoxide poisoning. His note said.. ""Well guys, I guess you knew this was gonna happen. Tell mom and Kristen I love them. No one here gets out alive" We had no clue. If only I had told my mom where he was that night. Anyways I'm sorry. I don't know you. I haven't said this in almost twenty years

This song always makes me cry because when my parents split up my mom left my dad and I stayed with my dad. I chose to because i thought he needed me more. He wasn't perfect and my mom had a valid reason to leave so I don't blame her. I was 17 so I was old enough to understand. I had to watch his heart break and watch him try to get his life back together. I watched him drink and go on a spiral and then leave me for weeks at a time to go see his girlfriend after a few months. He eventually healed, but our relationship was never the same because i basically raised myself my senior year of high school. The first part of this song hits me in all the feels.
