      It literally was "the best of times." This era was my childhood -- I was 10 years old when this song came out and started playing at our local Skate-Inn. MAN, was this song ever fun to skate to!! SOooo where's that time machine?? I wanna go back and let my daughter experience what life was like when it was still good! :P

    urning the Beat around is a serious offence in the eyes and ears of professional musicians. One time my dad was playing some jazz with a few folks and the bass player turned the beat around on accident and all the other musicians stopped playing and immediately killed the bass player. They take it seriously and they will swarm like a pack of wolves if necessary. This kind of thing happens all the time in the industry and it never gets reported. You have to be in the know.

      @loritajohnson5664 4 роки тому +6

      A lot of these dancers ended up having successful careers. This segment didn't really showcase the great dancing at the time on Soul Train. And this song was written and produced by African Americans. Performed by African American Ms. Robinson. This song was categorized as disco/r & b. Has some African-Latin rhythms in background.

    • @garyranieri3856
      @garyranieri3856 4 роки тому +1

      Nothing that you write changes the fact that the dancers stink. And Miss Robinson is half white. Doesn't matter what race the Jacksons were, the song has a Latino sound to it and the black dancers just aren't cutting it. One of my favorites is Robinson's appearance on 'Midnight Special' when she let it all out and just took the show over. This performance is for Jerry's telethon and he chose the wrong dancers- they're off doing one thing while Vicki Sue is carrying the show. She's superb while the dancers shouldn't be there. The Mechanical Man? To 'Turn the beat around'? Not even close
