What’s even more interesting is when you look up Gangles combat record. Dude took part in the French, Russia, Normandy and even the Bulge. Dude pretty much took part in every major engagement of WW2 and lived practically until its very end only to die to a SS Sniper.
I don't understand why Hollywood hasn't made a blockbuster movie about this. It has everything, it's based on a true amazing story. It's WWII with classic good and bad guys, it's a lot of action AND the US is the hero that saves all the defenders in the castle. Everyting Hollywood likes.
This was amazing! Now I know where the commonly used phrase " jenny at the gate" comes from, it means oh no were screwed in my part of the states. What an amazing story, never heard it before, the visual here is top notch. Thank you so much for this gem. Happy weekend everyone
They hole up in a castle with a bunch of pows and freak out when one runs away. That's the weirdest game of hide and seek - what the hell were they thinking, that they wouldn't be found!
Hey Toon History! Just found your channel and am loving your perspectives on UA-cam history content. I watched some of your WW2 stuff and I think you'll love Historigraph's "The Maginot Line: Actually a Good Idea". Hope you can react to it!
Absolutely love your channel. Been subbed for over a year, but I'm not just saying that to butter you up, please could you look at the history of Wales? I know you are a history god, but I'm not sure how much you know about us, especially as how overlooked we are by the rest of the countries in the UK, not to mention the rest of the world. Please keep up the great content, the subs will come
