For every mail I receive I will inform the sender about my new address. If it is a server, service, company… I log on to that and change the address myself.

Everything you have and do on Google is indexed and registered by them, in order to collect as much data about you as possible (which is their business model and why their services are “free”).
That is why I have never used Google for my documents, calendars and email.
Google may be secure when sending email, that is not the issue. The issue is their indexing and “reading” of everything we have there.

I've been using ProtonMail paid from the beginning and haven't been hacked even once. Using a paid account got me their calendar and drive when they were in beta. Have you had any experiences sending encrypted email to a business through proton mail? I'm wondering how big business plays ball when receiving emails from clients where they need to redirect to proton mail to open your message. Wondering if using this would be useful when for example sending a mortgage application to a broker/bank which contains SIN, or if it would cause delays because they are apprehensive to opening a link in your email.

Well, this would be assuming the attacker can gain control of multiple devices. You send the private email and then send the key via mobile phone. The safest way to do that is send the text message not as normal SMS (very insecure), but with an end to end encrypted messaging app like Signal or Threema. Same idea as ProtonMail but over text. I use Signal. Both Signal and Proton have really upped their game this year in making a more pleasant UI and features.

And end to end encryption means that your message is encrypted on your device before it leaves your device to go to Proton servers and is only decrypted on the receiver's device (assuming they have Proton or you sent an encrypted message to a non Proton user). I'll be the first to say I have never taken the time to look into Android security, and because of that, other than my gmail accounts, I never really do anything secure on my phone. I never do any sort of financial transaction on my phone, like mobile order and payment at McDonalds because I just don't trust it. Maybe I'm being overly cautious, and my not having taken the time to learn about Android security is my fault (I'm so busy with work I don't have the time to learn new things for systems that I don't need to use.) I'm just wondering if there might be a way for Android to get around the Proton Mail app's security.

No. It is decrypted on your device alone, not on their servers. Your phone or computer is what holds the private key. Proton does not.

@@srcsmxd according to them they do not. Its decrypted on your device locally, which supposedly means they are not seeing it. I don't know exactly how all that works technologically. But that's how it happens with all end to end encrypted stuff (messaging, email, cloud storage, etc.) I'm sure there are others out there that can explain how it works. And with all the techy folks out there who use this, I feel fairly certain that if they thought Proton was then able to see your stuff, they wouldn't be using the service in the first place.

I've been using protonmail for a year (but sadly, I haven't used it for real production) and it's not a bad email service.
I have a plethora of email addresses that I manage (one is my personal, the other is used for job searching/related-matters and another one is for other personal stuff) and I'm considering of migrating one of my personal emails to protonmail - full time.
What's your advice and suggestion for my situation?

You can export your contacts from whatever service you're using now. And Proton won't delete your emails, but there is a limit to how much storage you have, so if you have too many, you either need to upgrade your account, delete older emails, or risk having new emails rejected because the inbox is "full".

Question: You briefly covered SENDING emails to non-Proton Mail users. You did not BEGIN to cover what benefit (if any) Proton Mail provided when non-Proton Mail users send email to your Proton Mail account.

You can open any email securely, but since you have no control over how it was sent, there is no email service that can provide extra benefit for opening emails from other services, unfortunately.

It’s easy to look down at people without knowing the situation, but probably not the best thing to do. You go live overseas for a few years and then tell me if it’s possible to pay taxes or open accounts without finding some way to share your SSN. Instead of saying “it’s not smart”, it’s better to find a way, if you must, to do it securely.
