For several years I’ve been using the paid versions of ProtonVPN and Protonmail. Both products are very stable, and neither one has ever had any type of bug or glitch.
Don´t forget, that the company and main server is located on Switzerland which is quite difficult to force to provide data to international companies and/or justice systems

Given that they now have split tunnelling and wireguard as beta(hopefully soon to be fully integrated), would this make it a better choice from a trust and a privacy standpoint?
nordvpn just got blocked for me from a website i use daily with no solution to fix the issue. Also netflix streaming stopped working a long time ago. i just tried proton and it just works so i'd say workflow wise it's better.besides having a tor network included always best so i am giving proton the win on this one after wasting 2 hrs with nordvpn on chat trying to get it to work. not to mention the way they update the app is rather annoying for me feels like they are breaking stuff more then they fix in those uppdates

The problem with this for me, and I imagine many more, is it's too damn complicated! Who has time to learn about changing servers, protocols, etc. And who wants a slower connection? The trade off is no privacy, so maybe focus on why someone needs this? I think a majority of us become numb to the lack of privacy to be honest.

No point of paying for tor P2p. It's free and all servers are free to use. Once you singup for this vpn they still connect to free public tor. That's the whole point of tor. If you use private servers for tor thne it's not actually private at all. The only way to use tor most securely is have your own exit node and use the regular tor. Using a VPN service for tor makes no sense at all.

Thanks, David! Any VPN that allows for manual configuration (including ProtonVPN) can be added to a viable router. However, most of the time the router/modem provided by your internet service provider (ISP) won't work for this. You'll need to buy a separate router that allows for VPN configurations. You can use SmartDNS with any router, but that’s not the same. I think the biggest thing is that encryption requires computing power, and most cheap router/modems just can’t handle that. Your connection would be too slow.

False privacy, all apps or sites that use cookies know who you are when connected via vpn. You're just logged at a different location but it's still your same accounts on the other side coming out of the vpn. Ultimately you have no true privacy with vpn. @@AllThingsSecured Well if you think about it, I think the 4$ (Basic) is a good deal for what it is. I mean I am no genius but for the security and countries you get with decent speeds the price seems ok. And the fact they are under strict swiss privacy laws make it good in my book!
How this crashed my system and reset my BIOS: I visited their site; I looked at some of their open source; I opened one of the security "pen-test" reports. It crashed. Error report and reboot. But my SSD was configured away. Consider the irony: a product to secure my system, not even installed, and the "pen-test" report crashes the bejesus out of my computer. I AM SO impressed!

Personally, I would say yes. I still have reservations about NordVPN for a number of reasons, and I like Proton a lot.

I found out why soft softs so different compared to Ableton. It is because there is a default limiter on the master that i didn't know about.

A VPN adds an extra layer of encryption so that even your ISP doesn’t know what you’re doing.

Not really. Having the code open source allows anybody to test it for vulnerabilities, that way if anything is found, they can easily fix it.

Ultimately you have no true privacy with vpn. You're just hopping to the next opening. Any VPN service should have 3 easy buttons: Skip your isp (least private), multi hop (more private), lockdown (most private but you can only use incognito mode and you have to figure out how to block all apps and browsers from connecting to the internet. That's the real truth to this vpn game.

How this crashed my system and reset my BIOS: I visited their site; I looked at some of their open source; I opened one of the security "pen-test" reports. It crashed. Error report and reboot. But my SSD was configured away. Consider the irony: a product to secure my system, not even installed, and the "pen-test" report crashes the bejesus out of my computer. I AM SO impressed!

Very true. If you’re still logged into your Google, Facebook or other account, a VPN isn’t going to hide you from them tracking you.
