    The cons are now that (from a Windows/Android user anyway) is none from your review hehe
    - WireGuard is now a beta feature.
    - Split Tunneling is a feature.

  • @bishals098

      Thanks! I realized that after finishing this review, which is a bummer. You're right, though - Proton offers split tunneling on Windows and Android only (and I forgot to test on my Android device...I don't have a Windows device).

    HaHa! What a small world! I've been trying to figure out how to get a VPN set up at home, which one, etc, etc. I ran across a video and said, "Hey! I know that guy!" LOL Hope you and the family are doing well! So, I had heard of Proton Mail, but this is the first time I've heard of their VPN. I've been looking at Nord and Express, leaning to Nord. Have you reviewed or had experience with either of them?
    BTW, you should be very proud of your work on these videos. First rate! I'm enjoying your channel so far. Thanks and best to the family.

    • @AllThingsSecured
      @AllThingsSecured  3 роки тому +10

      Dave! I was just thinking about you and your wife recently. I hope you guys are doing well. Learning Spanish, I see?
      I use and have reviewed both ExpressVPN and NordVPN, which you can see here:
      ▶ ExpressVPN Review: ua-cam.com/video/9n75zR8EEqo/v-deo.html
      ▶ NordVPN Review: ua-cam.com/video/ZBmfSkg_KNk/v-deo.html
      In short, it really depends on your needs as to which you choose, but they'll all do a good job for what they're designed to do. Both Express and Nord have apps for Smart TVs and routers, which might be helpful if you use those.

      Read my main comment posted just now. Ultimately you have no true privacy with vpn. You're just hopping to the next opening. Any VPN service should have 3 easy buttons: Skip your isp (least private), multi hop (more private), lockdown (most private but you can only use incognito mode and you have to figure out how to block all apps and browsers from connecting to the internet. That's the real truth to this vpn game.

      No point of paying for tor P2p. It's free and all servers are free to use. Once you singup for this vpn they still connect to free public tor. That's the whole point of tor. If you use private servers for tor thne it's not actually private at all. The only way to use tor most securely is have your own exit node and use the regular tor. Using a VPN service for tor makes no sense at all.

    One question that I am having trouble finding the answer to is, do I need a certain router to make this VPN work or will it work with the current regular consumer grade Motorola router/modem that I am using? Great video and thanks so much fo the review!

    • @AllThingsSecured
      @AllThingsSecured  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks, David! Any VPN that allows for manual configuration (including ProtonVPN) can be added to a viable router. However, most of the time the router/modem provided by your internet service provider (ISP) won't work for this. You'll need to buy a separate router that allows for VPN configurations. @@AllThingsSecured thanks for the quick reply. Thanks for confirming that the only way to use a VPN is by buying a router that will support a VPN. Do you think they will come up with a VPN that you don’t need a special router for?

    • @AllThingsSecured
      @AllThingsSecured  3 роки тому +1

      You can use SmartDNS with any router, but that’s not the same. I think the biggest thing is that encryption requires computing power, and most cheap router/modems just can’t handle that. Your connection would be too slow.

    Now, I actually went and installed it and msg popped up 'protonvpn wants to set vpn connection that allows it to monitor network traffic'... Now reddit says it's normal and standard for all vpns.. But I find it ironic 👀😅

      @Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii0l 3 роки тому

      Also, fun fact I've stumbled upon, if you use vpn and are at the same time logged in let's say google accaunt, it can still track down that it is you, you just pop up in different countries 🤔

    • @AllThingsSecured
      @AllThingsSecured  3 роки тому +4

      Very true. If you’re still logged into your Google, Facebook or other account, a VPN isn’t going to hide you from them tracking you.

      Slightly more expensive than other options, perhaps, but when you purchase 1- or 2-year plans it's very close.

      Basically i need to go to my home country because of my grandparents but the place where i work at they don’t want that i work from home and they usually track where you are via ip location so if i would get that asus router and the express vpn would i be able to mask my ip adress so it looks like i am in netherlands while in fact i am in bosnia ?

    • @AllThingsSecured
      @AllThingsSecured  3 роки тому +1

      Yikes, that’s tough. If it’s a work computer that they’ve given you, they might be able to track it no matter what. If it’s your own computer, that setup you describe could potentially work, but you can’t let your real IP address get leaked. You’re walking a very difficult tightrope.

As soon as my subscription is up I paid for a year in advance I'm moving on to someone else.
