Hands down the Cupra is a better car than ID.3 the only let down with this and the rest of the VW range is the smaller battery and the options heavy pricing that elevates its cost into the £40,000 range and the realm of EV6 and Ionic 5 etc.
This is an ID3, just better in every way than the VW version. As for the interior, the update to the ID3 cannot come soon enough because the ID3 is cheap and bad cheap at that - far too much glossy black plastic. I want to find out who in the car industry decided that glossy black plastic in cars was a good idea - undoubtable a bloke who doesn't drive a car and has no children - and make him eat the plastic. If these electric cars were truly affordable for the average working man. We would all be buying them. UK/USA etc, laughable!!! Until governments really push, the status quo will remain the same.
I think part of the prob is our gov are just stooges and we don't really produce much on our own soil. I do like the UK made Leafs but they're also quite pricey.
The Born is nice, much more so than ID3 for sure, but if you’re talking £40k for a LR/77 wouldn’t you just be better off with a Kia Niro? It doesn’t better that, for me!
Cuppa showing VW how it shud be done. Love the look of this car, the interior is better than VW too. Shame they somewhat use the same infotainment system as the VW's as other than that it's a great EV, good handling, charging and mileage. However they really need to get that sorted not even back-lit is really poor for any car never mind cars costing this much and I think this infotainment will put people off spending this much cash on wat is actually a really good EV.
WLTP figures make no sense for ICE cars, either... My wife's Yaris Hybrid, for example - WLTP states about 82mpg... 'real world' best I've ever got has been 61mpg...! In the video, Wookie says he was getting around 3.6 miles/kWh which, therefore, on the 58kWh 'usable' battery capacity in that car, would mean a 'real world' range of around 208 miles. 👍
@@jonathantaylor1998 Thanks that makes sense 208 miles more realistic than 260 miles. I saw earlier Yaris' i.e 2015 with those ridiculous 80+ figures, where as the newer 2018+ have realistic combined 58mpg.
11kW A.C. Charging seems poor. There are lots of 22kW type 2 chargers knocking about so you'll be hamstrung. Not good enough at this price, on this type of car imo. Demand more people!!
Test drove one of these and it's nice but at £38k it felt very expensive for what it was. In the end I ordered a Polestar 2 because although more expensive at £45k it feels like a special car, whereas this felt like you were driving a (nice) Golf but not £38k worth
So even starting basic at £32.5K , your not going to get the maximum range coefficients without adding extra's and that costs. No thanks Tom - Keep it, it is not my cup of tea.
No roof rack or tow bar option for lugging bikes about. They don't seem you have thought about that with the smaller MEB platform cars. Besides that it's a lovely car but Renault Megane seems like a better option if you want to use it to transport family+bikes/roof box.
making a +2.2t vehicle handle and ride properly requires 3 chamber air blah blah with 48v active roll blah blah, which costs a lot of money and premium manufacturers can justify this on expensive SUV's. boggo springs can't work miracles, and this is the result. I feel sorry for those poor tires as well.
Lads we need to be honest here. The id3 is not a good car. Odd and awkward looking, poor quality interior, awful media and cabin controls. Drives OK. The cupra has a slightly less bad look and slightly better cabin but really it's just the same with a little spinkle. It's OK. Nothing more and it's not loved in this review at all. The megane e coming at least looks good. This is a poor VAG effort and will not dominate the market
All these reviews of electric cars are rubbish. Drive this down "Thomas Street, Mountain Ash" at 20mph and see how your bodywork and battery survive. Low slung cars and low batteries cannot handle some of these speed bumps etc. Sweeping curves smooth roads oh so great. Sh1te roads and speed humps tell me how well the ride quality is. You'll be out Heckington bodywork and battery condition straight after you drive down that road for sure. Thes roads are not unique. Real roads real conditions are what is required in these reviews. Not BS "Fast", "Agile" & "Responsive" comments.

@@_TrueDesire_ Holy crap........GOLF R price :)))))))))))))))))))))
@@robb5828 yeah... I rather have a new i30N for €38,000 than buy a Born for 57K 😂
@@_TrueDesire_ with this money you can buy a GOLF 8 R and also you come close to an RS3,M2,A45s
The cupra born is a nice car
Hello mate 👍
So even starting basic at £32.5K , your not going to get the maximum range coefficients without adding extra's and that costs. No thanks Tom - Keep it, it is not my cup of tea.
I wonder if they'll release a cupra born with a petrol engine. Really like the car :)
I believe Cupra just unveiled their last ICE car. Also you could not fit a petrol engine on an EV platform, unless you want to go hacky
Sheep in wolf's clothing springs to mind. With such aggressive styling the acceleration leaves alot to be desired
No roof rack or tow bar option for lugging bikes about. They don't seem you have thought about that with the smaller MEB platform cars. Besides that it's a lovely car but Renault Megane seems like a better option if you want to use it to transport family+bikes/roof box.
ID3 sucks but Born rocks !! High standart design for Born !!
making a +2.2t vehicle handle and ride properly requires 3 chamber air blah blah with 48v active roll blah blah, which costs a lot of money and premium manufacturers can justify this on expensive SUV's. boggo springs can't work miracles, and this is the result.
Good review - Neither for me
Looks like an ID3 that has gone through Halfords. Less is best.
🔝🔝🔝🔝
my 145 HP id3 is too underpowered
Way better looking than the dull VW , and that's from a 73 yr old.
Qpra...?? Koopra..??
Like the car. Not the presenter and his “humour”.
Ex30 leaves this Cari the dust
This guy tries way too hard at ' I'm a funny middle aged man who watched a lot of Top Gear'. Try less hard mate. Car looks awesome though!
Genesis GV60
Simply a rediculous price for Genesis.
1.8 tones............
Yes. You don’t look like a middle-aged twat clubber in an ID3.
I'd go with the ID.3. The Cupra will lose it's value the moment it's wheels touch the tarmac. ID.3, being a VW, would keep it's value in the long run.
Don’t try to hard to be funny, just review please
Ex30 much better car plus goes fast as a Ferrari 😂
