This entire episode is just iconic. The raisin ageism, tying it to women, this salad as a metaphore for life, a party, a personality, the communal spoon story....I love everything about it.
i love how Carla goes on a completely unhinged metaphysical tirade about the salad and somehow everybody's here for it. I just can't stop watching her videos. They make my day!
Didn’t expect a boost to my morale along with a great recipe, but Carla delivers it anyway! Thanks, from a job searcher who is more than a decade past needing your app. 💋
Isn't it strange that plums and grapes received new names for their dried state of beings.... but everything else is just dried (fruit name) . When I'm aged and have some wrinkles I hope they don't plan to give me a new name. On another note why is it that we can bake a potato but not roast a loaf of bread?
I made this for dinner tonight and while I was expecting it to be good, I wasn't expecting it to be THAT GOOD! I'm literally screaming and eating at the same time.
Carla is the perfect combination of the energy and mannerisms of JVN and the nerdy food knowledge and general badassery of Alton Brown wrapped up in a delightful warm person
I adore golden raisins. My mom adds them to her biryani and chicken korma, and those little bursts of sweetness are unbelievably delicious in savory dishes. Yes to raisins!!!
Omg the 3 million adjectives are giving me life in this video. I wish I had Carla to 'adjectify' my life every day, what a dream 🤣🥳🥰 And no, I won't ever disregard a raisin ever again. Or any dried fruit for that matter... 🥗🥗🥗
I used to be anti-raisin but I have come around in the past couple of years. I still really dislike them in sweet foods (NO to oatmeal raisin, NO to raisins in carrot cake!), but in a savory dish? Surprising, uplifting, gorgeous.
Yes! I've been saying that to the comments recommending dried cranberries (those sound good, too). I think dried apricots taste very similar to golden raisins.
Bryan from Canada, you are an inspiration and entertaining at the same time! Always luv your take on food and life at the same time. Best wishes. Thankyou Carla!
I LOVE RAISINS IN SAVORY FOOD. It’s a nice little sweet surprise. I remember the first time I had a Peruvian empanada with meat and raisins and it was DELICIOUS
Comedy and cooking! Carla, I loved watching you when you were in the BA kitchen and made lots of those recipes, but this is even better! Can't wait to try this green grain salad, WITH the raisins!
Carla is utterly fantastic as an entertaining and educational host. This recipe (particularly the delivery of this video 👏) was what prompted me to open a tab and add her book to my Amazon cart. LOVE the addition of golden raisins!
Oh Carla, bless you for making me laugh in these bizarre and painful times! Your videos are seducing me into buying your book, in spite of the fact that I already have shelves full of cookbooks. BTW, I had no idea dried fruit aversion was a thing. I love dried fruit, but I am old, so maybe I am predisposed to have an affinity. 🤣
I luv raisins...and I also put PRUNES in my Thanksgiving stuffing. Everyone devours it and not a single person has ever noticed they are eating prunes ;)
Love! One more wonderful thing to make from the book. Everyone loves a chicken cutlet on a sandwich was Friday’s dinner. Thanks for helping me make such wonderful food!
I feel like dried cranberries would be a great sub for the raisens. They are red, so they provide that color contrast and they are sweet, and a little sour.
This dressing is amazing! I'm making the whole salad, but slowly, and decided to do the dressing first. Can't wait to try it on the salad. I also threw in some mint because I didn't have enough basil. Absolutely delicious!
Hi. I just bought your big yellow cookbook after two weeks of finding your UA-cam channel. Can’t wait to make something ! Suggestion- maybe put in your future cookbooks a scannable QR code on each recipe so when scanned it takes you to a list of apps that have this recipe being made. And then the reader can select UA-cam t watch that recipe being made as well as have the book Thank you for the entertaining and informative low ingredient recipes
My husband thinks that I have a celebrity crush on Carla. But really, how can you not love someone who is so funny, relatable, goes into some strange places with their stories and cooks so well?! How?! Also, Carla taught me how to make a perfect pot of beans and I'm forever grateful. Also, I'm making this salad and my raisin hating husband will have to deal with it!
I am so happy I found this platform 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I absolutely loved her when she was with bon appétit. I have not seen her lately . In my opinion ( she is the best ) amazing !!! Getting her cook book 📖🎊 congratulations on this amazing book
OMG, 😂 the "app" at the end has me laughing so hard, I can hardly type this comment with my tablet shaking in my hands. I will say life on the other side of the cycles is very freeing! I don't suppose telling people I'm just concentrated flavor would sound as good as your description of the raisins did😆
I'm a big fan of raisins. (And prunes for that matter.) But there are just some dishes where they don't belong. I'm sure they're great in this though because Carla never steers us wrong.
Love your recipes, and dried fruit is great. I have a nut allergy so thats the part that sucks for me. I know I can leave them out, I always wonder what I am missing 😪
Great salad, I don't mind the raisins I like them, I'm one myself, that said, I'd sooner use dried sour cherries, there's more of a ying yang sweet sour to them than what I find in raisins.
“absolutely unhinged” 🤣🤣🤣
If Sunkist can rebrand prunes as "dried plums," then I can celebrate our elders through raisin appreciation.
Didn’t expect a boost to my morale along with a great recipe, but Carla delivers it anyway! Thanks, from a job searcher who is more than a decade past needing your app. 💋
Kind of a reach but I still love you.
Isn't it strange that plums and grapes received new names for their dried state of beings.... but everything else is just dried (fruit name) . When I'm aged and have some wrinkles I hope they don't plan to give me a new name. On another note why is it that we can bake a potato but not roast a loaf of bread?
Please write a full dissertation on this raisin/ageism argument 😂 I will read it
"Fresh, Like my brain... used to be"
You know these recipes are great because she's honest about absolutely everything.
I just love how this channel has actually just become a therapy session where you learn how to cook.
Carla this episode was absolutely off-the-hook🤣 I’m so happy you get to make money on your own channel while show casing your wonderful personality❤️
I made this for dinner tonight and while I was expecting it to be good, I wasn't expecting it to be THAT GOOD! I'm literally screaming and eating at the same time.
I love raisins, they are little bitey balls of sweet joy.
Carla is completely off the rails and made my week. The rant on raisins is unhinged and she is my spirit animal.
Love the way Carla always embraces the specific things that make each ingredient what it is! Looks so good
I absolutely adore your tv manner! Impressed by your ability to combine both playfulness and practicality into your personality.
Omg the 3 million adjectives are giving me life in this video. I wish I had Carla to 'adjectify' my life every day, what a dream 🤣🥳🥰

“Day drinking and lazy lunches” solldddd 😂😂
Carla is CRAZY and I LOVE it. Making this for a gathering this weekend.
The raisin monologue was pure genius.
Okay but does Carla have a podcast?.. her wisdom, her knowledge, I need it all
Borderline Salty podcast!
The pulsed broccoli is a great idea for this salad. I made this yesterday, and the broccoli was a surprise hit with my family.
You are quite the poet. I’m loving how are cooking and reciting poetry.
I like the golden raisins for a recipe like this because it does provide nice sweet chewy texture. Apricots may be a good sub too.
This is one of the greatest and zaniest cooking episodes I've seen and i love it. cant wait to try this too.
Carla just gets better and better!
I will never look at raisins the same way. Thanks for opening my eyes.
Much love for your new app.❤️
Carla--Your Great!! Your Out There!! Your Fabulous!! I LOVE IT!!
Seriously every single one of your recipes looks so delicious, so creative, AND nourishing. I’m in love.
I just made this and cannot stop eating it!! Why is this so good!? Everything just works so well together.
I freaking love raisins
Oh wow she really went into it. The whole raisin speech that is.
I LOVE RAISINS IN SAVORY FOOD. It’s a nice little sweet surprise. I remember the first time I had a Peruvian empanada with meat and raisins and it was DELICIOUS
It's been quite some time since I've been this surprised by a recipe. I love everything about it. I also love surprise raisings in empanadas
this might be the greatest salad video i've ever seen
Comedy and cooking! Carla, I loved watching you when you were in the BA kitchen and made lots of those recipes, but this is even better! Can't wait to try this green grain salad, WITH the raisins!
Broccoli and raisins are a perfect combo
Carla is utterly fantastic as an entertaining and educational host. This recipe (particularly the delivery of this video 👏) was what prompted me to open a tab and add her book to my Amazon cart. LOVE the addition of golden raisins!
We love a reason for a raison! Always bring on the raisons!
Omg the descriptors this episode loooool they were plentiful and I loved it 😍
Oh Carla, bless you for making me laugh in these bizarre and painful times! Your videos are seducing me into buying your book, in spite of the fact that I already have shelves full of cookbooks. BTW, I had no idea dried fruit aversion was a thing. I love dried fruit, but I am old, so maybe I am predisposed to have an affinity. 🤣
I have just made this salad for the second time. Truly delicious, thank you Carla!. Please continue posting salad recipes!
Thank you for making this video! This was the first recipe I earmarked in the book. ♥️
Omg, your praises of this salad are inspiring. OK, OK, I’ll make it 🤪
Carla is on a whole different level!
I luv raisins...and I also put PRUNES in my Thanksgiving stuffing. Everyone devours it and not a single person has ever noticed they are eating prunes ;)
the two minute speech about raisins... 😭why she kinda convinced me to give raisins another chance LOL
Love!
One more wonderful thing to make from the book. Everyone loves a chicken cutlet on a sandwich was Friday’s dinner. Thanks for helping me make such wonderful food!
Fascinating. I've never come across anyone who had a problem with a raisin as an ingredient.
Thanks for the video and the recipe!
I come for the cooking but stay for the wordplay.
Look, raisins, whether expected or not, are mystery chunks that Ican'thang with.
Green salad is always very delicious
I LOVE A SECRET RAISIN ! ♥️ truly underrated
30 seconds in, I knew this would be so good! Love from Sydney Australia
Love you queen! and love all your bomb AF food you make x
I feel like dried cranberries would be a great sub for the raisens. They are red, so they provide that color contrast and they are sweet, and a little sour.
Yeah, or dried apricots.
Made this today. This is great. Thank you
This dressing is amazing! I'm making the whole salad, but slowly, and decided to do the dressing first. Can't wait to try it on the salad. I also threw in some mint because I didn't have enough basil. Absolutely delicious!
The maybe never app is hilarious 🤣
This was iconic. Carla you're the best!!

one of my favorite recipes in the book!!! Spun it so many ways.
My husband thinks that I have a celebrity crush on Carla. But really, how can you not love someone who is so funny, relatable, goes into some strange places with their stories and cooks so well?! How?! Also, Carla taught me how to make a perfect pot of beans and I'm forever grateful. Also, I'm making this salad and my raisin hating husband will have to deal with it!
wow that's one of the best compliments i've gotten so far~!!!!
I am so happy I found this platform 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I absolutely loved her when she was with bon appétit. I have not seen her lately .
In my opinion ( she is the best ) amazing !!! Getting her cook book 📖🎊 congratulations on this amazing book
I am obsessed with you Carla 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
I love your channel….love it. Who needs food network😤🤫😍
This video is amazing.
OMG, 😂 the "app" at the end has me laughing so hard, I can hardly type this comment with my tablet shaking in my hands. I will say life on the other side of the cycles is very freeing! I don't suppose telling people I'm just concentrated flavor would sound as good as your description of the raisins did😆
I LOVE RAISINS IN SALADS!
You are a great teacher
“As I live and breathe, Raisin???”
As long as your raisins are golden I’m with you. Never have liked traditional raisins.
raisins are always right wherever they are
I rolled off the bed laughing!
I brought a vat of pasta salad with one fork to the beach last weekend - was a big hit. Will bring this next time!! Also, your nail game is SO strong.
I'm a big fan of raisins. (And prunes for that matter.) But there are just some dishes where they don't belong. I'm sure they're great in this though because Carla never steers us wrong.
Beautiful one
I love dried fruit. People are missing out
#TeamRaisins I love Picadillo, and have converted many to raisins with it.
Sounds interesting, how do you make it?
This was unhinged and I am here for every minute of it
Think about the broccoli salad most supermarket delis have. Raisins in that salad, and it's delicious.
@11:28 -“Secret raisins” is the same concept as what I call “Surprise Bacon” in a recipe. Don’t assume everyone is okay with it. 😆
perfection.
I am craving this salad so bad!
While that was quite the compelling raisin speech, I shall never let a raisin pass my lips!
Love your recipes, and dried fruit is great. I have a nut allergy so thats the part that sucks for me. I know I can leave them out, I always wonder what I am missing 😪
Use sunflower seeds or pepitas!
I love the resins part 😂😂
I don't like regular raisins, but those look good. And craisins are good.
Carla, you're god's gift to Earth
I'm gonna sound sarcastic, but Carla genuinely changed my mind about dried fruits lol
Carla should be president 😂❤️
Great salad, I don't mind the raisins I like them, I'm one myself, that said, I'd sooner
use dried sour cherries, there's more of a ying yang sweet sour to them than what I find in raisins.
Came here for the recipe, left with great life coaching lessons 🙌
Look so fresh
Personally I love a golden raisin. Not as big of a fan of a purple one, but I will still eat them!
You are a kick my dear. Thanks.
I love how Carla talks, each sentence is a whole journey Lmao
Carla, can’t wait to make this salad! Also, where are those absolutely adorable salad bowls from??
bought the book last week :))
Hahahaha, Maybe Never! I feel this in my bones, Carla.
