In 1979, a new pro wrestling publication hit newsstands and magazine racks across the nation. It was Pro Wrestling Illustrated. When the first issue went to press, Greg Valentine was ranked at #3 in what is now the WWE and at #2 in the Most Hated Wrestler category.
Actually watched it within the last couple days after a friend posted it on facebook. Not only did you have two of the greatest old school wrestlers going at it in a hardcore match you had Gordon Solie and Bob Caudle calling the action, awesome!
i sat down in a bar and talked with greg the hammer about wrestling for 3 hours. it was awesome. then he and coco b ware went at it in the bar. it was great!
😳Greg Valentine! a legendary master of the figure four leg lock! 😳I wonder if he ever had the opportunity to take on the Greatest Wrestler of all Times and the Most Dangerous Wrestler of all Times?! 😳Dr David Schultz!
I saw The Hammer at a Rays game years ago. I see why he had the name "Hammer" because he was HAMMERED LOL! This dude RULED! I loved The Hammer! He's one of the 1st wrestlers I remember as a kid
I don't care about the guys looks. Respect is what he gets for me. He was a workers worker imo. He was the workerhorse of the Dream Team. Beefcake was just lucky to be there.
Well Valentine was managed by Albano when he wrestled for the WWF in the late 70's-early 80's, chasing Backlund for the WWF title. so I guess Valentine thought that when he came back to the company in 1984 that Albano would still be his manager.
Great heel from my childhood. Cant be easy in any business to have to do that day in and day out... later, greater respect 4 him. # not based on this interview tho. Lol
This is a true creature of habit, he is still lazy and still not turning up for shows he's booked for because he has double booked and doesn't call the one he's not going to. That's if he bothers going to either and the habit of lying Too is at alive and well by his own admission, he just can't stop it. His disrespect to Randy savage is a disgrace and says he'd stretch him but he waited til Randy was dead to say it. Wish Randy was alive and well today just so he could tell Valentine to try stretching him now
I met the Hammer and Johnny Valient in NYC at the Ramada inn bar. They were drunk ask fuck and managed to sign my picture.Good times.

Just by looking at him you could tell that he is/was a legit tough guy. Would NEVER want to cross him.
He looks like that old lady from The Goonies and Throw Momma from the Train
I really need to buy this video, not to mention a lot of other videos of Kayfabe Commentaries.
we got hammered with the hammer at the local tavern a few years ago. classy guy!
his match with piper could be the number 1 match of ALL TIME bar none
+Glen Sobchyshyn Yeah but this was history of WWE, that in NWA (Jim Crockett Promotions)

This is good stuff!
Greg Valentine actually hasn't aged too bad compared to some of his other peers like Jake "The Snake" Roberts.
"if he wants to suck toes, let him'" that is the 17th time today that ive heard that.

i think he looks pretty good for 60. which was his age when this was filmed.
He WAS managed by Lou, but when Albano turned face and Greg came back, they put him with Jimmy Hart.

To be fair Greg looked like complete shit 30 years ago too.....so he's fine.
whats the name of the music for timline wwe?
How often do you hear a 2000 star talking about telling about how he blades to tell his story
you mean from the closed-circuit ppv that happened 3 years BEFORE vince jr supposedly invents ppv?
The Hammer should have been a World Champion.
What happened to Hillbilly Jim in 85?
He Debuted & Was Given a Sweet Push, Alongside Hogan & Piper
greg is a native indian wrestler of unknown age.
he's 63
The only thing Greg Valentine can stretch these days is a pair of pants
Maybe losing a daughter makes Greg sad everyday?? 🤔
Oh no...I didn't know that. Ughh sux. Condolences
@alibatley28 Be warned...they're addictive!
how did this man never get the heavy weight title,
Met him once and he was one grumpy nasty SOB. Lol
He looks like Pat Butcher out of Eastenders. All he's missing is the ciggie sticking out the side of his mouth, and a bit of lipstick.
