    Very nice log splitter and I love the table behind the wedge. The table is nice and I see a lot of positive comments. I'm old school when it comes to processing firewood. Increasing efficiency happens when you handle the firewood less. I don't know how it saves your back when your lifting up on the table anyways? Am I missing something or am I wrong when I say you have just added one more step to processing the firewood?

    • @hardworkingmanoutdoors
      @hardworkingmanoutdoors  Рік тому

      Thanks for the feedback. There are so many ways to utilize this table and we plan to show them In upcoming videos. One example would be if you had your truck bed full of rounds from a cutting session out at your property. Simply back up to the table and unload the truck straight onto the table. You can then roll each round down with almost no effort to split. Loading from the truck to the table you climb up in the truck bed once and your done, no need to keep climbing up there, or tossing the rounds on the ground just to pick them up again to split etc. Some will say just split right out of the truck but then you’re constantly turning and lifting, climbing in the truck to move rounds to with in reach of the hookaroon etc.
      In this video we loaded with the tractor bucket so no lifting the rounds other than the few I spilled. Simply scoop up a load and dump. One way or another the rounds have to get up to the splitter! I have a lot of plans and ideas for this table and like I said we will demonstrate different methods and scenarios in upcoming videos.

    • @truckguy6.7
      @truckguy6.7 Рік тому +1

      @@hardworkingmanoutdoors Yes, utilizing a truck to table strategy or using a machine to table strategy would make that table a game changer.

    hi there need to talk about the table . its a prototypt . when i split i set the tractor bucket right on the table and pull off the bucket right on to the table . with that 6 inch lip you can't do that and also makes you have to pick up the logs an extra 6 inch . the table needs to be simpler flat and lower . needs to be longer by where the splits come off . . e/m me if you can i don't do well at typing . you have a great well made tool . john

    • @hardworkingmanoutdoors
      @hardworkingmanoutdoors  Рік тому

      Thanks John, I have watched your videos with the table too. I like the edges on the table for when I work and don’t have my tractor available so I can just toss them up there mindlessly and they stay put. I also am not sure how the extended table how you use will work with a conveyor which I’d love to add in the future. Definitely always room for tweaks! Definitely appreciate the input!

    • @truckguy6.7
      @truckguy6.7 Рік тому +1

      If you are hand bombing the rounds the table is just adding an unnecessary step. Now if you had a skid steer and you were loading the table with a machine...different story.

    • @hardworkingmanoutdoors
      @hardworkingmanoutdoors  Рік тому

      These big rounds are heavy either run them up one at a time on the log lift or dump 4-5 at a time from the bucket to the table. Much quicker with the table. One way or another they have to get up to the splitter.

    That table is a great addition. In my set up, everything ia at the same height so just rolling them onto the splitter is simple. My wagons, trailers, trucks and splitter are all very close in height so it keeps it simple. Trying to minimize putting anything on the ground really helps, but with my own tree service, it comes home faster than i can split it. Last summer i did one job that was 17 Ash trees alone. I still have some of it left to split, plus all the oak and maple i brought home. There are over 45 full cords waiting to be split but at least the rounds are cut to length and stacked off the ground. Still, it means many hours on the splitter and stacking. But at least i know i wont run out and be freezing in a Minnesota winter.

    I really like the Allwood log table. I think it would even be better if they offered it with its own log lift attached to the table. I think a lot of people would purchase that. The table itself could have its own up and down valve with its own piston to lift and lower it. Either offer it with its own engine and pump with the table or have a quick connect coupler go directly to your machine.

    Hi Heath - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. If loading the table by hand would it not be worth it to stack the logs neatly, particularly the back row, to facilitate moving them with the pickaroon onto the splitting table? The Bold Rachel should really learn to always use the timber tongs, otherwise her back will be worn out by age 35.

    Hi. We have had our All Wood Oak series splitter for 6 yrs...
    Monster machine, has always worked flawless on all kinds of tree service hardwoods.
    I have to disagree about the table. Labor saving?
    Where is the labor saved when you are hefting the rounds by hand to the table? Especially when you have help.
    In our opinion the log lift is the game changer for splitters, also the working height of the splitter is key.
    We use the log lift not only to lift and feed huge rounds, but load smaller rounds on it as it is positioned lifted, even with main beam, tilted slightly down to keep rounds away from splitter... also keeps split pieces in check.
    Table is made well, but I truly don't see a need for it when a helper can be feeding rounds onto the lift.
    Simply a different view of splitter operation.

    why do you go by face cord in the midwest? Here in maine we only use full cords as most people that burn wood use 5-12 cords a season. It would make more sense to just buy by the cord and not face cord it seems like a waste of time to not just get it all done at once.... Also as a tip keep some of the rounds so you can let em burn 12 hours while your sleeping or working so you dont need to deal with filling the stove at night.

    • @hardworkingmanoutdoors
      @hardworkingmanoutdoors  Рік тому

      I am not sure why they do it that way, a face cord or full cord were all I knew firewood as growing up. I think a lot of people buy a face cord or 1/3rd of a cord for summer fires outside etc. I tend to sell a lot more wood for recreational burning than for home heating. I keep some larger splits for the all nighters, the stove I run holds hot coals throughout the night and we just re fill in the morning and we’re good to go. Thanks for the feedback.

    It is a fairly expensive line of work to go into. I keep running the numbers through my mind and wondering why people do this. Between the cost of splitter, chain saws, tractor, fuel, totes, maintenance, repairs etc. etc. it could take several years to recover those initial equipment costs before they are actually 'making money', If anyone can produce and sell enough chords each year. With 2 people working on this operation if they each had a conventional job at $20 per hour they would be earning $1,600 per week combined for that 5 day 40 hours of work each. They would have to produce and sell 4 chords per week each and every week of the year to earn what they could earn as employees on a conventional job. The only money being made is the youtube payments.

    • @hardworkingmanoutdoors
      @hardworkingmanoutdoors  Рік тому

      In my case there is a lot more to it than that. I use my tractor etc for other things such as habitat work, side jobs installing food plots, brush hogging etc. Also I heat with wood so I do not have to buy propane, I have been in my current home here in Michigan for 8 years and have only purchased propane twice. It also gives me the opportunity to teach my kids about and give them a way to earn money through work and not just expect it to be handed to them. They see that what they put in affects what they get out. Also don’t overlook the fact that the equipment holds its value. For instance I purchased my tractor several years ago and have used it for myself and to make money ever since and I could sell it today for more than I bought it for. Log splitters are similar. I just purchased a used Eastonmade 12-22 that had 400 hours on it, they had used it to make hundreds of cords of wood and I paid them a little less than they bought it for new in 2019. So the equipment is more of an investment than an expense. I also enjoy doing it and it is a good physical activity. I also do it when I want to do it and don’t have to punch it at a job etc. I am building my business as a retirement plan for something to do when I hang it up at my career. So their are a lot of different things to look at when getting into firewood but the main thing in my eyes is do you enjoy it?

    Sorry about this, MATH JOKE: After the great flood receeded, the Almighty kept track with Noah about how the animals were doing. Noah reported all was well with all animals reproducing and going forth, except for the adder snakes which had failed to concieve. God commanded Noah to build a table out of logs and to give the table to the snakes. Lo and behold! The snakes increased their numbers very efficiently! Moral of story; enven adders can multiply on a log table.
