  • I love Christmas, and the chance to play a festive tune- so here is my version of the traditional piece 'Sussex Carol'.
    I've made a midi backing track so that you can have a playalong too. (The backing track is a bit dodgy, but it's the first time I've tried making one... must do better next time, ha)
    This is influenced by the version of Sussex Carol by Robert Reed and Les Penning, which I really love. If you haven't already heard it, I highly recommend giving it a listen- I've linked it at the end of the video.
    Merry Christmas!

    OH yeah! Great midi backing track, by the way... I can't put together all that stuff on midi yet, but I can surely use your fine tracks to play along with you! Which is to say... I can at least add it to my short list of songs to learn on recorder -- and I shall! YOU, however, played it wonderfully! I was especially impressed by the lovely little trills in just the right spots! Thanks so much! Oh, and a very Merry Christmas to you and your family! :)

      Thank you! Trying to do anything much computer based is a bit like wading through mud for me, but I’ve decided to try to up my technological game, haha. Didn’t know if I’d gone a bit OTT with trills, but if you can’t at Christmas, when can you! 🤷‍♀️
      Hope you had a lovely Christmas/ new year.

    Thanks for the pressy ! The fact you keep making wee films is present enough. Your trills are always so good . . I seem to mess them up. You played that really well it was a joy to listen too. Hope you have a great Christmas and a tuneful New Year ! 🎶

    I love how you play Sussex Carol. I have never heard it before but now I fell in love with this beautiful carol. I am learning the Alto recorder since a few weeks (before i played soprano recorder). Do you know where i can get notes for alto recorder? Thank you for your motivating videos. Merry christmas from nuernberg (germany) 🎅🏼

    That was incredible! I know how extremely difficult it is to keep up with accompaniment that doesn't have a melodic line along with it. I usually get lost after the third bar and have to start over again. Kudos to you! I'm going to go back to all your videos and give you a like!

    I'd love to know if you use a specific app to duet the videos?

    • @ClaythorpeMusic
      @ClaythorpeMusic  2 роки тому +1

      Hey, sorry for the delayed reply! I do sometimes use the Acapella app, which is so easy and quick to use. But it does have some limitations, so mostly I record everything separately and then sync it all up in iMovie. Takes more work than Acapella but usually worth it!

    Lovely! Very nice playing and I enjoyed the backing track which must have been a lot of work to accomplish. Well done, and the little cymbal crash made me chuckle. And many thanks for the link to the Robert Reed - Les Penning video. I saw James Finlayson in the thumb nail, and sure enough it was a film from long ago with two of my favorites. Delightful. I hope you have a wonderful holiday and thank you for this treat.

      Thanks, something about that cymbal amused me too, so I left it in! Glad I’m not the only one.

    Love Father Christmas on the mantel.
    Well, this is going to be fun, what with an uncommon time and a couple of trills.
    Is 6/4 triple time or duple, if I may?
    Your technique and command is impressive. Merry Christmas!

    • @ClaythorpeMusic
      @ClaythorpeMusic  2 роки тому

      Oh now you’re asking! I think 6/4 is compound duple.
      My Mum has had that Father Christmas for decades, she gave him to me a couple of years ago and I live in fear of breaking him. He’s up there out of the way for safety!
      Hope you had a good Christmas.
