The Bahco is a great saw. I have one in my Bushcraft kit. I also have a folding hand saw that takes all reciprocating Sawzall blades. It's a similar design except it's a bit of an antique and the handle is made of aluminum. I'm a retired Carpenter so we always have to cut different types of material

1...Of the couple of Bahco tools I've owned over many years, I've developed a huge regard for the brand. 2... 5 minutes on the Googler tells me that a Laplander will cost me a couple of bucks more than $50 here in Oz. Furthermore there is a similar Bahco for half that price, the difference being that it is specified for dry wood. This is also my favorite folding saw, though I've never tried a Silky saw. That being said, there aren't many, if any Silky saws that come in the OD color that I prefer for stealth camping.
@@RedBranchBushcraft I have to say mate. I bought a slinky Zubat around 3 years ago and I’ve never had it snap. I use it regularly in my day to day job. Perhaps the folders are a bit weaker due to them not being rigid? My father used to tell me,” A bad workman blames his tools”. What do you think of the Opinel saws? I have both sizes, and prefer the smaller size. One benefit of uncoated blades is they make superb ferro rod strikers
Amen Wooly 🙏 Amen. I NEVER hike into the woods without my laplander. I know it won't snap and leave me high and dry if I use bad technique because I'm exhausted, hurt or just not paying attention. Plus I can open and close it one handed. Other saws cut great, don't get me wrong, but you can't depend on them. Just search youtube for broken laplander vs other popular saws and you'll see what we're saying.
If you're in Europe, I'd highly suggest looking at the EKA folding saw instead, it's lighter, comes with multiple blades AND is available in both 17" and 21", both are considerably cheaper than the Laplander. You can get these for as low as 150 SEK.
@@RedBranchBushcraft ouch! I guess that's due to Brexit. I see that the manufacturer only ships within Sweden too unfortunately, bummer. Otherwise dropshipping might work, but with customs and all it'll probably be around €45-50 anyhow. If you want help with ordering one let me know
@@RedBranchBushcraft I did break the tip of a blade on my gomboy 240, like ~2cm. But I did it in the car not by using the saw.. I used the broken blade for 1 year but got myself 2 replacement blades couple of weeks ago. The Silkys are just crazy good, the Laplander got the looks but you must try a Silky, its something else. I would go for the Silky Gomboy 240 Prof!
silky really isn't better, they're just different. better for the layman who can't think to use the finer sawing technique required by the more traditional bahco

You have obviously missed out on the Silky saws, I havent even looked at my Laplander since i bought my first Silky, a Gomboy prof 240.
