I love the video and it taught me more and now I'm ready to continue to go on with my business and know now why things were not working out for me, thank you so very much.
Great Video . Thanks for posting. I really couldn't get my head around the different types of paper and the particular garment to use. Thanks for the explanation and very clear demo.
Great video! I'm glade I watched it. Went and found some white transfer paper at a yard sale for 25¢ per packet (10 sheets per packet) and was about to use it for black shirts but now after watching this, NOT!!
Thank you so much!!! I almost made a huge mistake and wasted money with my naive thinking process "ofcourse it will work I'll don't see the need to buy dark transfer paper at a 25% higher cost"... Thank goodness I found this video!! Ok my mom brief idea to do some quick research to prove it wasn't a bid deal🤣😂🤣
Thank you so much for the informational video. I just really wanted to know if it was possible. Im sorry you wasted two of your blanks in order to do it, scrap or pre cut fabric can be a cheaper alternative for some of the "how to" workshops.
If I was only using black ink on a yellow shirt, would light transfer paper work? I don't want to use dark transfer paper and have to cut out individual letters
please help me out... so what kind of transfer paper would i use to print on colour shirts like pink, yellow, heather gray, and so on.. sorry, i just found this video, i just dont want to go back and read the comments. Thank you
i get that the light paper is a clear, so anything white in the image becomes shirt color. obviously the black in the image wouldnt really show on a black shirt... but why dosent the red green and blue come up on the black shirt?? im currently starting , and have only used dark transfer paper on a black shirt, but if i want white or color text on the shirt it needs a black background in my image, and that background also appears on my shirt wich dosent make it look proffessional. how do i work around this?
Very helpful! I do have a question though. I have a mustard yellow hoodie and i’d like to transfer a picture of a cartoon that has white in it. What could I do in order to keep the white on the hoodie without it becoming yellow as shown in the video?
I'm printing a white text on a beige/sand colored hoodie and I'm using light fabric transfer paper. Would the white text stay white or turn the color of the hoodie? Is there anyway to change that? I've seen shirts that have the white font with the beige background and they stay white, I'm not sure how they did that though. Please respond! xx
If I use this paper on a heather grey shirt would the clear polymer be visible on unprinted areas of the design? and if so, would it fad/wash away. Please make a video of how JPSS looks on grey
@@EazyAvely I did a few times. JPSS on heather ends up with a vintage look to it. The design comes out looking slightly transparent and the heather effects showing through. It's perfect if that the look you're going for. The clear polymer makes the grey slightly darker in areas, but it's not all that noticeable. It's might be more noticeable when the garment is wet, but when its dry people wont really notice unless they're looking for it. It doesn't completely wash out in my experience but it fades over time. It's still best to crop as as much of the polymer as you can still before pressing.
This was very informative! I have a question though, would a dark blue based aesthetic image that was printed on light transfer paper show on a royal blue shirt?
That will explain why my design didn't appear on my black T shirt for my graphics coursework :( I would have bought my own transfer paper but I didn't think it would make a difference what colour the t shirt was).Nice easy to understand video though :)
Hey thank you for the information!! Just a helpful suggestion, the sound of your bracelets clinking was really getting to me as I was trying to pay attention to your video! If you didn’t have noisy jewelry on it might be easier for your viewers to focus on what you’re saying. Thank you again for your information though!
Jayke Harrison That's what I was wondering, I was using transfer paper for the first time today and I printed out a shirt ton of images without thinking, glad I watched this, however one of what I printed a need for a red polyester garment
Ok can someone tell me if I use a light transfer paper and print a black colored background image and then print it on a black T-shirt...will that work?
What type of Press machine are you using? Also what type of print and cut paper are you using? What is the heat pressure you are using for this transfer?
Hello! We are using a Hotronix Fusion in this video, Hotronix has now upgraded to the Fusion IQ. For the paper, we are using our JET-PRO Soft Stretch (www.coastalbusiness.com/jetpro-sofstretch-inkjet-heat-transfer-paper-jpss-g.html). Press settings we suggest are 350-375F, 20-30 seconds, and a heavy pressure. Thank you!
Hello! If the shirt was lighter in Grey, the colors should not shift drastically. Can you please send a picture to support@coastalbusiness.com and we will take a look.
If you transferred a light transfer (like JetPro SofStretch) onto a light baby blue shirt, it wouldn't necessarily look weird, but the blue of the garment would come through the transfer and affect the color of your image by adding a blue tone to it (for example, if you had pink in your image, it would end up looking purple-ish on the shirt).
Hi! Baby pink, and Blue are still light in color. These two shades could either be on the light or dark side. We would suggest a dark transfer sheet, however, for the most vibrant transfer.
Coastal Business Supplies I NEED HELP!. I currently using this Jet Pro SS as my Transfer Paper for White Shirt. But how come after i press my design to the Shirt there's a White Background?? Im using Pigment Inks. I set up my heat press 190°C then 30sec with heavy pressure. I'm using Stahls Heat Press. Hope you reply. Thanks.
You should only see is transparent background. There will be a bit of a texture with it, but it will wash away with time. Are you transferring onto a white shirt? If so, you may be just seeing the shirt color through the clear polymer. The only transfers that have white backgrounds are transfers for dark garments.
Coastal Business Supplies yes im using Jet Pro SS for White Shirts and then 3G Opaque for Dark Shirt. Hmmm, i see White Background not a Transparent Background like you did in your Video transferring in to White Shirt with a Transparent Background. I used Printer with Pigment Ink, is this ok for the jet pro SS??
Butch Lopez Yes, the pigment ink is fine with JetPro SofStretch, but that paper wouldn't be able to transfer a white background unless you printed white ink onto it.
Coastal Business Supplies Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and two Black are the color of my printer, there's no white ink, so i wonder what happened with my 3 press printing using this paper jetpro SS. All press having White background on it :(
As the video shows it would depend on your design. If you don't have to worry about color shift then it will work fine. If your colors have to be exact then it probably is not a good solution for you.
yes i tried the neenah 3G jet opaque on a white shirt and it worked. Transfer papers for dark t shirts have a white base so you can apply it on any colored t shirts. But the thing is that this paper is heavier to wear on your shirt. It means that if you print a full a4 image on your shirt, you will feel it when you wear the shirt. In that case, it's better to trim the unnecessary background on your image and use a cutting plotter
Hi Bj, You can but it not an easy conversion and be aware that when you do that it voids the manufacture warranty. We do have many customers that use this printer for sublimation successfully!
Hello, any color may alter the colors that are printed on the item. If you are printing Yellow it will show Yellow on the item. The colors may appear darker tan if printed on white. Does this answer your question?
@@CoastalBusinessSup i guess what i'm trying to ask is: you said on the yellow shirt with light transfer paper, the white in the logo turned yellow. but what if in my logo, it is not exactly 100% white. it's more of an eggshell. will it still get affected by the yellow of the t shirt, even though it's not technically white ?
Good question! The mirror option can be selected in your print settings when you go to print your transfer. You will mirror, or reverse, your image with light colored inkjet transfers, and you will not mirror/reverse, with dark colored transfers. Thank you!
The transfer was a heat transfer paper for an inkjet printer (White, Yellow, and Black was the shirt color we transferred too). You cannot transfer to a black polyester shirt, or darker shades with Sublimation.
Yes, you can as long as you are using 100% polyester. The color of the shirt will take on your design - for example, a light pink shirt, the end result will have a pink hue.

would it work on a light grey shirt ?
Yes it will work though you may see a small darkening of color due to the shirt.
Does a light design show up on a light blue jean jacket?
Hello! For a very light blue color, a heat transfer paper for lights should work.
Definitely helpful so with a light gray shirt will I use light papers or dark
Hello! With lighter shades of Grey - such as heather grey, you should be okay to use a light transfer paper.
@@CoastalBusinessSup ok thanks

Aye I use light on the light gray shirt but the image still came out kind dark
Hello! If the shirt was lighter in Grey, the colors should not shift drastically. Can you please send a picture to support@coastalbusiness.com and we will take a look.
So.. What if you tried a really light/baby blue? Would look wierd?
If you transferred a light transfer (like JetPro SofStretch) onto a light baby blue shirt, it wouldn't necessarily look weird, but the blue of the garment would come through the transfer and affect the color of your image by adding a blue tone to it (for example, if you had pink in your image, it would end up looking purple-ish on the shirt).
so what if i printed a photo that has no white in it and i remove the yellow color in photoshop like in RGB or CMYK
