Less stalling. Less money. And more power -- by a long shot. That's how I sum up the Shine Mate polisher against the industry standard, the Rupes BigFoot Mark III dual action polisher. By the way, it's the industry standard for a reason. Rupes makes excellent tools! But a lot of people are looking to spend less money during these crazy times, and the polisher I'm reviewing is indeed less expensive. I've owned quite a few Rupes machines and find them extremely smooth and elegant...but the price point here with Shine Mate almost seems game changing.
I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised by my first foray into the world of Shine Mate . . . having never tried their machines. After all, I'm a Rupes guy (you probably are, too)
The reality is, I'm skeptical by nature. How could any machine be "superior" to a Rupes Bigfoot Mark III? But lately, I've seen a handful of videos about the brand: glowing praise from Car Craft Detailing, positive feedback from Brian at Apex Detailing, and so on.
So I decided to give it a try. Check out the video and let me know what you think of my summary!

I added the washer mod to my LHR Mark III and it really helped with the stalling issues that are inherent to the Rupes DA machines. I am intrigued with the Shinemate but I’m an older guy and the smoothness of the Rupes is important to me when doing lots of paint corrections.

@@kenwithrow5157 fair warning to start slow and start with lighter polish and less aggressive pads first to get a feel for it. It definitely changes the machines behavior: how fast the pad and the cars paint heats up, how easily it glides over everything (sometimes it feels like you get slightly less feedback while using the washer mod). I find myself getting great results with just a 1 step polish using a yellow or white Rupes pad, without the washer it would normally take 2 steps to get the same results.

I have had the Shinemate EX620 Pro for about a week and have tore it down to have a look. Beautiful, elegant, smart, and durable! I cant believe how smooth and how good it sounds. Its a beast, yet the gearhead stays cool. It is a joy to run. Bigfoot slayer at half the cost. And you are absolutely correct! The Bigfoot stalls, every chance it gets. Id rather run my SPTA. @@HawkProDetailing I do, but I haven’t sold it because it’s a good backup machine. I also taught myself how to get the best of it. Pads are the secret to the XCE. Pad choice. But for now the 15MM and the 21mm ( I got the 12mm as well, the 3”) really get it done for me. I’d tell you to the the 21mm. The 15MM is good. Hello there. Curious as to what you didn’t like about the Flex XCE? I was looking to get the corded version. I know the gear driven tools have a tendency to “walk” on you but I think that would outweigh the typical DA’s tendency to stall. What is your take since you used both?

It's a great machine, however the snout on the end is way to short. That's the elephant in the room.

All these hi end machine polisher made by same manufacturer but different companies put thier labels and jack up prices. Just like car manufacturers put car parts from manufacturer and put in thier box and price doubles

its a solid cheap machine. People who invest in rupes tend to put long hours behind machines often 8-12 daily. using a machine with significantly more vibration will get to you. its inevitable. a honda civic and a mercedes will both take you to the same destination. Rupes will always have its market.

Have you used shine mate? I feel like I assumed it would be "cheap" but it's pretty dang solid. With that said, vibration is a real thing and I respect the elegance and smooth(ness?) of rupes. But the mark iii isn't like some durable beast in terms of daily shop use. We've sent one in and have another on the IR lol.. Flex is where I look for true durability
