    Are there any wireless programmable remotes where the settings are stored on the remote rather than on the computer they are used? So you can just move it between computers with the same setup.

    • @TechFixFlix
      @TechFixFlix  2 роки тому +1

      Hi @thelin79. This is a great idea, and there’s a definite appeal for devices which might work in this way. We’d freely admit that we don’t believe we’ve come across such a device, so we’ll throw that question open to the community…Any recommendations out there?

    • @damientremens4864
      @damientremens4864 2 роки тому +2

      While you can't store the settings on the remote itself, you can save the settings in the controller driver software and then load them on another computer. Not as clean/easy as having it on board, but much better than retyping it all over multiple computers.

    • @TechFixFlix
      @TechFixFlix  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for that @Damien Tremens. We also purchased an additional dongle in order to share our remote more easily between desktop and laptop computers, without having to unplug and reconnect every time. We still find sharing to be more awkward than we’d like, but it does work.
      Please accept our sincere apologies for the delay in responding to your comment. We have been extensively pursuing activities outside of the UA-cam platform for the past six weeks, and consequently we are only now catching up on feedback and questions. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

      Is there any way the scroll wheel can be programmed for horizontal scrolling in Mac OS? similar to the ultra-flexible left-right scrolling possible with the Apple magic mouse?
      I can so far only get the wheel to do very basic left -right page scrolling which is far too jumpy and extreme
      thanks again

    • @TechFixFlix
      @TechFixFlix  Рік тому +1

      When programming either Quick Keys or a Stream Deck, it always comes down to the question “which kays can we emulate to achieve the required outcome?” We suspect you’ve probably already experimented with the left and right arrow keys, possibly in combination with the Shift key, which won’t in any way replicate the smooth scrolling of the Magic Mouse or trackpad, but we’re a little short of options here, unless anyone reading this can offer a better solution…

    Quick Question is There an way to get the scroll wheel adjust Windows Brightness?

    • @TechFixFlix
      @TechFixFlix  2 роки тому +1

      Hi @Ice DiamondArmy. We think this should be possible. At 06:19 in the video, we discuss mapping keystrokes to the dial. If your computer has dedicated keys for brightness up/down, you can map these keys in the “Define Keystrokes” field. For example, the laptop we’re employing to draft this reply uses F5 to increase brightness and F4 to decrease brightness, so we can simply map these keys to the up and down fields for the dial. Naturally, the precise key combination will vary from machine to machine, so this might not be quite as straightforward in all instances.

    i use the press and hold of the space bar in combination with my wacom tablet's pen to pan around a photo in photoshop. If you assign a quick key to space and hold the quick key does it simulate holding down the space bar or does it only simulate pressing and releasing the space bar? thanks and great video too

    • @TechFixFlix
      @TechFixFlix  2 роки тому +3

      Hi @Poutine It Up. We’ve tested this in the past few moments, and can confirm that holding down the button on the remote performs identically to holding down the button on the keyboard. Only once you’ve released the remote button is the hold released, so this works in very much the way you want it to. Thank you also for your kind words about the video.

    Hi. Thanks for the video. Don't suppose you know if it will work with Huion Kamvas display tablets? I've asked Xencelabs but got no response as yet. Thanks

    • @TechFixFlix
      @TechFixFlix  2 роки тому +1

      Hi @dekoy. We’ll start with a confession…We weren’t at all familiar with the Huion range before being prompted by your question to look it up, and we see that it’s essentially a display device compatible with Windows 7 or later, macOS 10.12 or later and Android. This presumably means that the computer is doing most of the heavy lifting, and we should probably reframe the question to ask whether Quick Keys is compatible with P.C., or Mac, and the answer is “Yes,” with drivers available for both systems. There are also drivers for Linux, but nothing for Android. So, assuming the primary device is a recent Windows or Mac machine with a spare U.S.B. port, we very much believe that it would be compatible.
      Just as a further thought, you can download the software for free from the link in our video description, before buying any hardware. As you’d have nothing to lose by taking this approach, you could certainly download and install prior to any purchase purely to see whether the driver installs on your system, and only look to purchase if installation is successful.

      @@TechFixFlix thanks for the suggestion. I'm waiting for the tablet to arrive so when it does I'll try installing the driver's if I've had no response from Xencelabs.

    • @TechFixFlix
      @TechFixFlix  Рік тому

      Hi @chris cheap tech, and nice to hear from you again. You will be able to launch any application by following the process shown at 09:52 in the video. In terms of controlling apps, the key is to discover which keystrokes perform which function, them map them into the Quick Keys software as shown at 08:31 in our video. Naturally, there are far too many apps for us to work through them all, but this general framework will apply to any app which can be controlled via keyboard shortcut.

    how do you rotate the screen layout from horizontal to vertical mode?

    • @TechFixFlix
      @TechFixFlix  2 роки тому +1

      Hi @djwichogmz. We cover screen orientation at 04:27 in the video, which you can access directly through this link: ua-cam.com/video/fbJKquwqK1Q/v-deo.html Under the “Customize” menu in the top right of the main interface, the first option in the dropdown menu is “Set Quick Keys Orientation,” which allows us to choose between 0, 90, 180 and 270 degree rotation.

    Can Numpad keys be added to quick keys?

    • @TechFixFlix
      @TechFixFlix  2 роки тому

      Hi @Eddie Montalvo. This might come down to precisely how you’re intending to replicate the Numpad functionality, in that Quick Keys can certainly enter numbers, but we don’t believe that it is able to differentiate between numbers on the top row of the keyboard and numbers in the Numpad. If your intended use relies upon this distinction, this might not be suitable, but if you’re simply looking to enter numbers via Quick Keys, it will meet this need.

      @TechFixFlix  2 роки тому +1

      Hi @Sudoy Samont Barua. You didn’t mention which operating system you were using, but we’d be inclined to Google “keyboard shortcuts to take a screenshot” plus the name of your operating system. Hopefully you’ll find an alternative key combination which Quick Keys will accept. Alternatively, you could use Quick Keys to trigger an application like the Snipping Tool on Windows, or run a script which does nothing more than execute a Print Screen command.

    can you use it with out a tablet and can you program apps to it

    • @TechFixFlix
      @TechFixFlix  Рік тому +2

      Hi @chris cheap tech. The answer to both of your questions is “Yes.” We have precisely no artistic talent, so the full tablet experience would be wasted on us, and we therefore use the Quick Keys device exclusively without the accompanying tablet. Whilst we can see immediately why this device would be a valuable asset for artists, we also firmly believe that there is enough functionality here to recommend its use as a general input device. It can, of course, be used to launch and control apps, and our video walks through an overview of the type of control you will be able to reproduce.
