    IT WAS REVENGE, IT WAS MONEY, IT WAS ANGER, IT WAS BETRAYAL. BUT THEY LOVED EACH OTHER. MISTAKES WERE MADE. I THINK WHAT THEY DID WAS WRONG AND IT HURT ELVIS, AND DID NO GOOD FOR HIM. ELVIS WAS IN TROUBLE, AND THE PEOPLE THAT COULD DO THE MOST HAD LEFT HIM. HE WAS NOT PROTECTED IN THE END.

      @@cut1986 Of course it was for the money, they even admitted to it. What was done in that area was out of fear of having steady income. They just gave Elvis 20 years of service and thought they were going to retire from it, i'm talking on a human level of 40 year old men but I personally think it would have work itself out. Vernon made things worst by firing them and Steve Dunleavy made it worst by turning it into tabloid trash. Betrayal came from both sides. They think Elvis fires them because that's what Vernon did, they write a book to cash in on working with Elvis.

    Secretly recording your “friend” speaks volumes about their true character. Shady. Not to mention he lies to Elvis. He describes the book as a good-times stroll down memory lane. That couldn’t be further from the truth.

      @relentlessrescue260...they knew his fans and the media would call them liars. Even today people comment on their book even though they never read it. They just instantly defend Elvis. If Elvis had not fired them with a week's pay they wouldn't have needed the money and may have never written the book.

    If Red West was so concerned about Elvis and he was such a good friend then why didn't he write a book years ago? why wait till Elvis was sick and dying? and what kind of friend records a conversation over the phone of a sick and dying friend? It seems to me he enjoyed all the benefits all those years of Elvis's success but when it came time that Elvis needed a friend, friendship was no where to be found. He was betrayed by his so called manager and even this man Red West. That my friends is what I call an enemy. Not a friend. So sad Elvis died alone after all the love he gave to millions around the world. R.I.P. Elvis

    FRIENDS DON’T “SECRETLY” do things without the consent of the other. He couldn’t have REALLY known ELVIS. It seems it was actually about RED …. Judgement of Red … God’s gift to the world through Elvis was and is “priceless.” So few it seems heard, listened, read between the lines of this profoundly deep SEEKER. Red appears to have had little to no awareness,empathy nor compassion for the man who gave him beyond snd above himself. Likely he knew little of ALL ELVIS was up against and facing … this sterile covert and “secretly” recorded conversation made my heart weep. Tragic . It was always obvious to me personally, RED didn’t live on the same plain as Elvis. His loss … he never truly knew Elvis , the man. Coming across as a rescuer, as I quote Red’s words…”I wanted in a final attempt to wake the idiot up… he had it all , man.”(said with judgement and perhaps envy, from his one dimensional viewpoint). He wasn’t grateful for what Elvis had provided for so many many years, his ego loomed larger. His book offered none of his own transgressions, and Elvis was too much of a decent man to have ever hung Red out to dry. Among the highest of these is love … To those with eyes to see and ears to hear…ELVIS IS GOD’s LOVE. All praise and glory to GOD ON HIGH.

      The book came out two weeks before Elvis died. He knew about it and tried to prevent the publication. Red and Sonny West plus David Hebler where, according to Elvis, fired because they caused problems in the hotels they stayed in which led to several lawsuits. Vernon told them that they were fired because Elvis had to cut down expenses. According to Ginger Alden Elvis got very depressed about the book of his supposed friends. Elvis had bought houses for them, cars, put their children through school, paid their salaries and took them along in his private planes, hotels, Californian mansions, on movie-sets and to Germany. Elvis Presley couldn't understand that they paid him back by defaming him for money. Red West lived on Elvis' pockets from the very beginning i.e. 1955/1956. Red West, a former school friend of Elvis, must have been very jealous because the only thing he had going for himself was his association with Elvis Presley. They are/were dishonorable men. The cousins Sonny and Red died but worthless David Hebler is still alive. Ginger Alden said she couldn't understand that these 3 traitors were allowed to work as tour guides in Graceland mooching on their connection with a generous "friend" that they blackened for money.

    From history, Elvis was a generous guy. He lacked trust in most people, surrounding himself with just a few. He did have a problem with medication. He did have drs who were pumping him dry, remember, elvis did not use medical insurance for his drs. paid cash......that is part of the major problem, why those drs did not try to get him off all those meds.....drugs etc...as red mentioned, how many times did they and others try to help Elvis, but the Drs would continue presecribing him meds. Those are the ones who should be held liable........Elvis was dependent on all those meds......leading to his obesity, high BP, cholesterol. colon issues etc....and then his heart failure.

    I read the book. They were jealous of Elvis. They also accepted many expensive gifts from him. They complain that they were under paid and under appreciated. They were grown men who felt they were treated unfairly, but chose to stay near him, because there was no way they could continue to live the lifestyle they enjoyed without staying close to Elvis. Red went to Germany with Elvis and left angry because Vernon did give him enough money. They got small movie parts because of Elvis. This book says much more about them than it does about Elvis. Both Vernon and Colonel Parker saw them as leeches, and didn't want them around. I see them the same way and feel sadly that they contributed to his problems.

      Red joined the marines in 1956 because Elvis paid him nothing for a year or so. He worked for free up until then. Elvis didn't pay them much. They were married with children so they did odd jobs to make more money. Elvis demanded these people protect his life. They put their lives on the line. Then, Elvis would turn around and brag to other stars that his men were so devoted to him that they would die for him. Elvis was not prefect.

    Personally he should have told them to their faces he was letting them go. He wasn’t obligated as he did plenty for them all, but as lifelong friends it would have been more respectful to do so. Sure part was for money and I have no doubt they really really wanted him to get it together more than anything. They were always gracious and thankful for everything g he did for them and the experiences they had together.

    My opinion, they shouldn't have went ahead with the book, I wouldn't give it a moment and don't know a person who's read that.
    Doesn't fully sound like Presley but it's not a clear recording.

    Red & Sonny supposedly did a lot to be fired. Yes, they were let go poorly but handled it wrong. Both were also using speed, downers and all sorts of drugs and acting erratically themselves.
    Red felt like Elvis owed him something more, (exactly why he recorded the conversation) that he was somehow now being excluded from being Elvis' BFF.
    The recording begs the question...why record it? To get more money? Negotiate getting rehired? Blackmail?
    Again, the theme of jealousy within the group was probably the strongest when eminating from Red, especially after the wedding to Priscilla when he supposedly smashed up a room and stormed off back home in a tantrum. Obviously why Elvis even mentions it.

    If Elvis had agreed and done the movie “A Star Is Born” we would have had another Elvis. He would have made that movie more than Kris! It would have him receiving Oscars for the rest of his life

    By the time Sonny and Red said anything, it was too late for Elvis. They should have said something back in 73 when Elvis overdosed. Had Elvis straightened himself out, worked on his fitness, fired the colonel and gone to Europe like he wanted, he'd have lived well past 1977. He had already demonstrated he could go off the pills and get quickly into shape for the Aloha tour - though his methods may have been a bit extreme.

      Elvis Presley had severe healthproblems mostly inherited from his mother, who died at 46 and had 3 brothers and a sister, who also died young. Elvis couldn't sleep without medication and very painful bowel problems.

    • @RobertNorthrop
      @RobertNorthrop Рік тому

      @@jannekedevries2360 The inherited heart problems/alpha gene has not been confirmed, just theorized by a fan who wrote a book. I don't deny it's possible just that there is a difference between what is has been confirmed and what has not. What we DO KNOW is that Elvis was taking nearly lethal doses of prescription barbiturates, opiates and amphetamines near the end of his life. This usage exacerbated his health issues and is a likely cause for the cardiac arrest that took him from this world.

    • @kop8291
      @kop8291 Рік тому

      @Robert Northrop no.. the genetic gene Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency was listed in his postmodernism test..
      This was not speculation from someone that wrote a book.... I myself found the info by just researching.... before I ever knew there was a book out about about his family history.. the name of the book.... destined to die young by Sally Hoedel this book explains his genetic health genes.... there is also another book The strange medical saga of Elvis Presley by Forest Tennant MD. Being a physician he gives more detailed medical information....
      If people want to believe all bs books on Elvis.. knowing he's not here to defend himself..... then at least go all the way and more research !!

    I dont think people who are making these comments about the body guards really know what they went through. I know what its like to live with someone whos addicted. Its hell. When they dont get that high their looking for they get mean and sometimes physical with you. They say hurtful things to you. You can help all you can but it wont mean nothing if that person doesnt want to stop. It has to be that person. These body guards suffered everything from elvis when they tried to intervene. Some threatened the doctors prescribing the meds but got threatened by elvis. Some stole pills and filled them with air. So trying to help got you fired or shunned from the group. Elvis was so private no one knew this was going on. And by writing a book it told the world and the intent was to get elvis help. and when elvis fired them there was no severance pay after 20 years. Most everyone would crap a brick if it was them. Family fight now and again i think eventually elvis would have hired them back.
