Having this done to my 07 focus sedan tomorrow just over $1,000 parts and labor. 199000 miles on original trans that went bad over a year a go and still going strong for a bad transmission haha. Hope to get over 300,000 miles out of my original engine.
I know this is late but I literally have the exact same problem that you had might I ask did the trans swap work out for you? Have you had any other problems once the trans was fixed? Just a bit curious thanks.
I had to have a brand new transmission installed in my 07 focus at 79k miles. I was told that the original ones for this car was flawed from the start.
No it was not this year, it was when they started with the double clutch models. I installed a oil drain plug on mine from new 2007, drain it with every oil change and then every other I pull the pan and change the filter. 134K on it now with zero issues. Adding a spin on this year. 😀
I will be doing a full swap on my trans this summer! Thanks for the reference! Doesn't look like a hard job.

How heavy is the transmission? Does the intake manifold actually need to come out?
did you have to drop the subframe even a little ?
I was wondering, is the torque converter balance to the engine or can you put the torque converter on in any orientation?

My first lasted 197k, so I don't think so.
@@erinburke9711 this focus i have, 06, died at 74K, ive looked into it and i believe these were prone to failing past around the 70K mark or so.

Does the exhaust manifold need to be removed,?intake I mean
Intake and starter have to come out to get to torque converter studs/nuts
Not the same for 04?
Same tranny actually, different engine though. First, second and third generation ford foci in north america used the same transmission.
