It’s simply changing out a tiny little capacitor. If you know how to solder it’s no big deal and you can put it back. But if you send it to someone like The Instant Camera Guy he makes sure everything is working properly so you’re getting the proper exposure. The light sensor on those cameras almost always gets corrosion on it and messes with the exposure. When I did the conversion it was on a box Polaroid, I wouldn’t attempt a sx70 without seeing one taken apart first.

@@WhoIsSerafin I’ll probably send it to him eventually, I just messaged him the other day. He does cool work. Anything requiring soldering is not my department 😂

Filters are a gateway drug. Next step is doing it properly. You will never look back
Check out the SX-70R PCB or look into getting it properly capacitor modded
True 600 film compatability opens up a whole new world of instant photographer since the shutter/aperture system is 4x faster, and the extra ISO allows you to shoot in 4x dimmer environments. Images are sharper and the film is way more available

I'm definitely interested in doing that for sure. putting this filter on got me pumped about using this camera more often

I used to shoot 600 Film on a SX-70 Sonar using a Mint Flash Bar. I no longer use it anymore when I switched to shooting i-Type cameras. Using SX-70 Film on I-2 has been mixed results for me.

@@LennyWu SX-70 film on the I-2 has been fine for me, aside from the fact that I don’t like shooting at that low of an ISO

I never had an issue with my retrospect ND filter negativity affecting the photo/framing as long as I follow the installation instructions. No tape or cutting required. Using a Sonar SX70 as well. Just had to make sure there was no smudges or hair on it before inserting.
As for the tint that’s interesting. I don’t have that at all haha. I have a theory it’s all due to the SX70 models and the lenses. My I-2 and Polaroid Go are green tinted to me when put in the same temperature environment compared to an sx70 image. ND filter or not.
People should put the image under their arm to get different tones. Personally I wouldnt go fully in the put because my images get BAKED magenta. Theres a sweet spot and time length. Sometimes you have to baby it like cooking scrambled eggs to get the tone you want. If it’s summer and you live somewhere hot at the extreme tone shifts bother people then getting an insulated cooler bag with some ice packs and storing the film and camera in there between shots can help.

@@lmlolxl I think my particular ND filter puts a green cast over my images. It’s not a super nice solution lol but it’s easy. It’s a different green than I normally get on Polaroids when it’s too cold or something. I don’t mind it though

@@doublenegative4real that’s so bizarre! Another think I noticed is that if it’s a bright day and I’m shooting a composition with a lot of greens my whole image shifts to green. When I shoot a scene with a lot of reds/oranges (ex. Brick roads/buildings it’ll shift more red. Idk if it’s a chemical thing I don’t understand or how the human eye just perceives it like some optical illusion. Anyway you’re probably right about your filter. You shoot WAY more so you see the subtle nuances. Now I want to buy different filters from different manufacturers to see what colors I get.
