Important tip, if you loop multiple layers: use different pitches. If your first loop has a lot of low notes, play high notes (e.g. above the 12th fret) for your second layer. With this method you prevent your loops to become muddy. It's in generall a good tip for composing. :)
Good point. Sometimes we take some of the fundamentals for granted & forget that the basics need to be covered too for those just getting into looping, recording and or playing with other instruments
Yeah it is. It's a blind buy. Just pick it up, man. (...or you might never get to experience the thrill of playing both parts of "Are You Gonna My Way?" -oh, and a trillion others. I just had to do that one first.
My looper is part of my multi pedal. The main problem with that is when I want more gain for solos it affects the clean part I wanted to loop. After seeing this thinking a separate looper is the way to go! Beats the hard way I have been working around it by laying it down on a Wiretap then just playing along to the computer.
Ok boomer. (sorry that was too easy haha) Indeed included loopers in mutieffects usually have to share a lot of processing power, and too often sacrificing both sample rate and quality in the process. If you want to have more freedom on the looping side a seperate box for looping may be the way to go :) // Guillaume
Sounds like you have the looper at the start of the signal chain. Put the looper last in the signal chain or when u change sounds it will change the loop. Rember..you want the loop repeating the effected sound. You do this by putting the looper at the end.
Txs some nice info Personally using a Voice Live 3 Extreme because of the great vocal effects but the tips and tricks are just as usefull on that looper!
Tap your foot to the rythm while you're playing all the time. Tap on every quarter note... then, when you want to press the loop pedal, you just shift your foot to the pedal while it is already tapping. So you are playing your riff one or two times BEFORE you start looping and tap your foot like you're the king of groove. This helps a lot to get the timing right.
Play like 4 bars before starting instead of trying to start as you are stepping on the pedal. Then you can just play through the riff once and when you are back at the beginning just step on the pedal as you are startnig the riff again
If u play the idea you want to loop before looping it for like 4 bars or until the rhythm and tempo is in your head. then on beat one tap the loop pedal and record the section then once your phrase is done tap the pedal on beat one again. this makes a clean loop.
I have a question for everybody: Do you know of a looper with 4 different outputs? I have RC3 and an old AC 30 and a new tweed. I can loop one guitar on each amp. Sounds great. Now I want to be able to do the same with the bass on the bass amp and a drum on a separate amp. Any idea?
Try looking at the 45500 pedal from ehx. Maybe two of those ?? There is also the 95000. Or maybe a conventional stereo looper with ehx parallel mixer pedal?
Thank you very much 😊 I'm a total beginner with a loop and I'm trying to enjoy the process and not throw my guitar out the window when hearing my bad rhythm and terrible riffs 😂
When will we be able to get Harley Benton products shipped faster to the U.S.? I really want to purchase a guitar and bass, but don't feel like waiting months to receive it. Thanks and I'm totally digging all the video content you all at Thoman put out.
I own the same pedal RC-1 Boss loop station, why can't I record clean and play heavy over top when I change from clean to dirty,so does my backing track.I only use a line6 with clean and dirty???James Nicholson,Ontario,Canada!!!!!
Hey James thanks for watching and for your question! Are you using the gain from your amp and is your looper placed in between your guitar and the amp? If so that explains why everything gets distorded when you switch channels on your amp. Try placing the looper in the amp's effect loop in the back and that should solve it :) // Guillaume

Most important tip, right here! Less clashing = more clarity

The Boss RC-30 is a great looper. Two tracks, 99 memory banks - it's awesome. Fantastic practice tool, great for getting ideas down, and tons of fun.

Lovely loop lesson , layer after layer like a sweet vidalia onion of your own variations. Pre looping is a great way to dial in your tone controls.

@Philip Schlaepfer Thanks! I am IRL boomer that plays bass and am a living meme that makes memes so seemed fitting 😎

Great tips, and Guillaume I really like your guitar playing and sweet tones! 👌
Hello Guillaume ! Thanks a lot for this video ! 😃
Was that DB meter on top of the Orange amp? IF.... it is decibel meter, who makes it? Thanks, Thanks, Thanks, Thanks, Thanks, (looped it)
Love this video. Where did you find the DB meter?

Sinon ça dérange pas trop d'avoir les démos hors phase ?
my problem is that i cannot get a clean loop. theres always a delay between the start and end and i cant time it correctly:(
Same my foot is just to late every time 😭

Been having fun with my rc 500 since yesterday. Im now 11 songs in and haven't eaten or slept as much as I should have. Great piece of gear though.

@@otraperspectivaThanks, I looked at that, but they don't have 4 output. It is a tricky thing isn.t it? LOL

Haha, yeah guitars usually don't land on their feet so better keeping them inside. Have fun! :) //Kris
Very helpful video, thank you. This helped a lot.
Great instruction. Just curious what digital sound meter is that?
