I was an Army MP for 12 years. I would say pick a different MOS because you will be overworked yet still get paid the same as other MOS's that work a regular Mon-Fri 9-5 schedule in garrison. In my experience I worked somewhere around 80 hours a week and did do a few 100 work weeks in garrison due to being undermanned at most posts/bases (There are some sham duty stations for MP's. Good luck getting them). If you were to work the same hours as a civilian police officer you would be making six figures in overtime. You have to remember that your day doesn't end after you work your shift of law enforcement. You may need to go to your company after or before shift to do paperwork or attend mandatory training. You may need to go to the motor pool to conduct maintenance on your ASV's and Humvees. You may need to do barracks maintenance/cleanup or IF you're a leader check on, inspect, or counsel your soldiers. Also, you may not even be working law enforcement. You could be put on gate guard duty which is a mind numbingly boring job. It's just not worth it no matter how much you think you want to be in law enforcement. Just be a civilian police officer instead or choose a different MOS. Additionally, promotion points are generally higher for MP's due to small Regiment size.

Most army bases are run by civilian DOD police. The chances of you actually getting stationed at a base with traditional military police is very slim. Most of the army military police is combat MP, which is a fancy name for infantry. You'll spend most of your days training in the woods, learning infantry tactics. If you're one of the few that actually get stationed at a base that still has military police, you'll only be doing it half of the time. You rotate in and out of the field with other units. If you're still wanting to do traditional 100% military police, you need to join the Marines, Air Force, or Navy. The Army won't change the name military police to what they're actually doing, it should be called light infantry on wheels. The Army knows the name military police sells, and it helps them meet their recruiting goals in the infantry field.

I'm Brasilian and we only have military police and the investigation squad. Our reality is extremely violent, so the police needs to be more "aggressive".
I'm MP in BR and it's true.
Thank you, my friends, friends who have commented, I'm sorry I can't reply to my colleagues' comments one by one.
POG CHAMPPPP
Do you have any experience working with/as 31E MOS? I heard 31B sometimes work as 31E. Was wondering what your thoughts are on that MOS?
USA Military Police Nice and look good.
Love it
I’m an 11B in the u.s. army
Wait so US MP's like patrol in Europe?
Amazing!!!!
I had a brain aneurysm trying to read the title
welcome and thank you.
1:53, no CAD, that's lame... At Fort Hood, Texas, we just had DA Civians do all the work, we were just right seat ride, along for the ride...
He did not seem comfortable with handling of pistol or carbine.

@@USArmyMilitary thank you
Did a Mud Puppy get their feelings hurt that they had to make a video about it? Remember you can't spell wimp without MP. Lol
Miss that opel.. Lol
Only the military would make a 17 year old a police officer 🤦🏼
Can you be 18 and carry a weapon in the us and be a mp?
Yes
You can be a mp at 18 for the army and any other brantch
@@Dndragon55 you actually get to carry a weapon at 17 during basic
@@isaiahfini3560 yeah
Cool
So, being a MP is doing security checks, perimeter checks, community engagements and practicing clearing houses. That is literally the only info this gave about what they do.
What about DV calls, property crime cases, person crimes, unattended deaths, suicides, traffic enforcement? This seemed like a "ask for help and the Army will be there for you" video.
You will be dispatched to anything from someone just needing help to an actual emergency situation via 911 call during your road cycle. You will also rotate between different cycles and participate in ranges, field exercises, and other training events. I can literally promise you, you’ll always be doing something.
@@CFHDime Thanks for the additional info!
Qwerty Pro are the chances of deploying as an MP high?
Max Combs ehh just depends where you’re stationed and what details you’re on. I was at Ft Polk in the line units, deployments depend on needs of the army. MP is combat support so you can deploy to do PSD or regular shit on a FOB. You’re more likely to go to Korea. I was there, it’s nice but sucks at same time.
Qwerty Pro so depending on what base your at, you could have a higher chance to deploy?
What are the odds of being deployed overseas in the MP
Very high
he looks 14 - America is scary
Why is everyone in the comment section so mean...
Cuz we were in the real army and hate mp's
smokey puppy why do y’all hate them???
@@chelseascott2294 what I’ve heard it goes both ways. The army hates the Mp’s cause their the ones that gives the tickets holds them up and some other stuff. But they say the same thing about law enforcement and how their pigs and stop stupid people make horrible decisions. Also they stop the fun but if people are doing stupid shit they won’t have to do it. It goes both ways tbh
