I've watched this video severely times Mike as I trained as a Tailor, Seamstress, Corsetier and Haute Couturier. I miss being able to the work so much, watching the choice of fabric, taking measurements, making your toile, then adjusting to make the 2nd toile and then finally sewing the basted garment together, hand finishing and the final press... it's a process that is really special. I really miss being well enough to do the work, the pleasure it gives to people and the art of the finished piece.
Tailor knows his stuff. Notice how he stays away from extremes. He understands current trends but pulls back a little from silly in and out fashions. Slim fit but not undersized, slim trouser but not something that looks like spray on jeans! Balance. Good job chap.
Na Na I had some suits made at Andy Mohan While I was in Hong Kong. It was absolutely the most gorgeous clothing I’ve ever owned. The lining was embroidered with my name and one of the jackets was designed for me by his daughter. Yes, tailors make people very, very happy.
I once purchased glasses on holiday in Hong Kong. Best customer service I have ever had in my life. They offered me soda and magazines, wifi and television while I waited to have them made. Best pair I have ever owned too.
Cat spotted at the tailors! Which makes it seem like they indeed have a nice work environment. No idea how they manage to keep the catfur off everything haha. The bathroom probably has a glass wall to maximise the feeling of space in a relativly small room. Lovely video again!
When I lived in HK I always knew how humid and hot the summer could get, but never think too much about it because I was used to it, until I moved to Canada and only occasionally returned back to HK as travel then I realized just how bad it really was. That heat wave when you exit any facility with air-conditioning is simply unreal, and then you just melt like butter lol
you are too CUTE getting a suit made...my husband did that many, many years ago in Hong Kong...we have been married for 30 years and he has had the suit way before we were together...hope yours lasts as long...GREAT MEMORY for him!!! :D
re: the glass wall in your room. When the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas opened up, the wall between the bathroom and the sleeping area had a small glass "window" between the two. A few years later on a subsequent visit, that was taken out. Don't know if it was specific to the room, but out of 5 trips, only the first room had it.
Actually it probably skeeved people out. The window itself wasn't big by any stretch. If memory serves me correctly, it was five feet from the ground, and the only time one could look within was when the bathroom light was on. I could probably ask the staff about it (I actually moved literally down the street from the Rio; I can see it from my bedroom window), but who cares.
I wish mike would add more of him speaking Chinese in his videos, I’m very interested in the language and it makes him seem like a local when he’s in Asia.
We've been watching Mikey and Strictly for 3+ years but this vid just showed up as a suggestion in youtube and as I checked it, it hit me that this was the very first Mikey video I ever watched - back then in 2016 I was searching for bespoke suit prices in HK. Wow - start of a great journey. Thanks Mike.
In the west an actual black suite is really only worn to funerals and by waiters. But a very dark grey is very common. Always make sure about half a centimetre of your shirt sleeves sticks out from under the jacket sleeves. Also never wear brown shoes under a dark suite, and make sure your belt is the same colour as your shoes. Your tie should always have the tip at belt-buckle height
Everybody should buy a suit when they're in HK. They have some of the best tailors in the world. You need to tell us where you got that wonderful music from. Hopefully, Shazam can identify it.
My dad loves telling the story about when he got his bespoke suit in Japan. The shop did all clothing and the little woman measuring my dad said, "you are shaped like a woman"... narrow waist and wide chest 🤣
The suit is made by low end craftsmanship called fused interlining ...... You can see the inside of your fitting jacket is covered by a gray color. You won't see this in any expensive and truly bespoke suit.
Love this... remeinds me of my dad. Because he used to buy custom tailored suits as well when he was still living in Indonesia. (way cheaper than in the west)
Mike, please do daily vlogs! I watched your strictly dumpling videos and I never knew you had a vlog channel. You are my most favorite vlogger and it's so awesome that your a chinese vlogger, I'm chinese too and love all your content and can connect with so many of the things that happen in your videos.
Yes your hotel view is very nice....That is an interesting bath room right next to your bed there. There are some very nice hotels there in Hong Kong. On my layovers there I stayed at the Intercontinental Harbour View Hotel. We are next to the big convention center and a short walk over to the Star Ferry Company.
where can you wear black? Black suits are classic! Any formal event. Basically, any wedding, special dinner, dancing, black and white dance, even work. Black is not just for funerals. You can never go wrong with black. best line, "my boobs are too big"
The ride is long from the new airport. I miss the old Kai Tak Airport there in the harbor. I miss the approach flying into the city. I am glad you are having a great time there...Congrats!!!
In the mid-20th century, we would drive into NYC for an extended weekend of shopping, theater, dining, and visiting the hotel where the gentleman we called "The Hong Kong Tailor" set up his "shop". He took measurements of my spouse and I selected fabrics and lining. The suits would be delivered to our hotel by Friday afternoon.
A bespoke suit is supposed to fit so we'll That one doesn't need a belt. The tailor was wearing a huge one. My understanding is if you go to Asia you will make a suit , shirt, pocket square combo. Maybe also a top coat.
Wow, excellent video man! I could almost envision flying mechs in those scenic shots from your hotel, lol. I can only imagine what it looks like at night... _'BLADE RUNNER: 2016'_. Those tailors from the tailor shop seemed like cool guys. Your hotel room was beautiful, I wish I could stay at hotels like that. Man, you have given me the "travel bug" cause now I want to get out of here and go off to some cool destination like this... (big bummer since I can't go...). I love these videos from abroad cause it allows us who can't travel to at least get a glimpse of life outside of our own backyards. So cool, I can't wait for the next one! Stay safe, have fun, show us some more of that awesome cityscape (especially at night), eat some awesome food and as always *_KEEP 'EM COMING!_*
Just a guess here, but considering how cramped/dirty[i mean for real] Hong Kong seems, they need a cat to protect the fabric from rats/mice. I am not for sure on that though!
Mike, thanks for sharing your adventures... I don't really know much about you, what you do, and why you share them but I'm subbed and following your adventures! It takes some guts filming people everywhere you run around. Keep up the good work!
I love the cat in the back right from 13:06 to 13:44!! Stores should be more like this one, have awesome cats and dogs, unless they get sued because someone is severely or deadly allergic to pets like cats and dogs. This was pretty random but I just had to say it. Love your vids Mike, keep up the good work!!!
Oh my gosh. I can talk about custom suits all day. My family is super tall. When I graduated college my grand dad took me to Hong Kong. It's been like 6 years. I have 36 suits. Fits like a glove. Never be cheap with fabrics. you get what you pay for.
This is a cool video! I have ALWAYS Wanted to go to Hong Kong with an empty suitcase and get some suites and shirts made - buy all my clothes when I'm there.
Throwing this out there for exposure again since I've seen this asked a lot - The song that plays at 1:40 is called "The Silk Queen of LeiZu" by Tony Chen
That bus man! I love it, always this bus to TST not the Airport express. Air conditioning, space and that view! Yep, same for me - quickest customs ever, i felt a bit weird like did they forget something?..
I have seen a few people trying to start businesses that export custom tailored suit (or clothing) from China to Europe or North America. I don't think this is a feasible idea, at least not with a good teleporter. A tailor provides both a service and a product. A well-made tailored suit goes through several fittings(adjustments) before it is handed over to the customer. Every fabric produces a different kind of fitting, so it is not economical to ship the clothing thousands of miles for a fitting.
You can and should take those amenities with you before you check out of the hotel because you did virtually pay for those. My mom thought me that, she always gets to travels because of her job and sometimes I come along on the trip. (Speaking of which, staying in a hotel room like that would be really awkward)
The hotel in singapore changi airport had a bath like that and i could see straight to the gate sign above the gate to the plane if i popped my head up out of the bath ^_^
The standard of your room is actually quite good. Usually the bath is so tiny they put the shower just over the toilet. Are you still satisfied with your suit ?
How much was everything ? From plane tiket, hotel, suit and tailor. Everything seems quite nice and I've never been out of country . May have to take a trip to Hong Kong
Great video! Hotel was cool and I can't wait to see how the suit turns out. Request: next time you are in Hong Kong (or, if you are still there) please show us what is left of Kowloon!
Thank you for the video. I have just discovered your channel. I am looking forward to exploring it. I have been to Kong Kong twice, both times at the end of summer which is humid enough! Next time, I shall go in cooler weather! But it is a magnificent city. I really love it.
Mike could u plz put the directions to this suit place, or if they have a website put the link up plz? The guy is super friendly n looks like he knows what he's doing.
Cool! We want to see you in the finished suit, Mike :) I don't like extreme heat and humidity, but I wished I could be there in HK; It looks wonderful!!!
Carefully watch the part where he pulls his phone out for the time around 3:25. I paused it perfectly and you can see her in his screensaver
Thank you
wow good eyes
Exactly what I was here for thank you kind person
Good eye!!
Thank you
Okay Mike. Let me see the finished product. Where is it? And how much did you pay for it.
Anybody else here after his korean bbq video... trying to catch a glimpse of his ex girl..??? 🤷♀️😭😅😅😅
Rose Petals hi 👋😜
Me

In his phone lockscreen when he checks the time🤣🤣🤣
Yup lol
3:25 is that Mike girlfriend
This aged well
This guy knew before all of us
Wow time traveller
You were about 3 years too early
you might not wanna hear this one
Wish I could get a custom suit from the Chinese Christopher Walken.
That would be him.
***** Maybe he has an agent? Hong Kong is a movie making hot spot.
holy crap cant believe someone else noticed the same exact thing!
nailed it
Hahahaha......I was thinking the same thing!.....I wonder if he knows he has a doppel ganger in Hong Kong...

The suit tailor guy must be Christopher walkens asian cousin. lol
Yaj.Pennie Needs more cowbell.
Lol
I once purchased glasses on holiday in Hong Kong. Best customer service I have ever had in my life. They offered me soda and magazines, wifi and television while I waited to have them made. Best pair I have ever owned too.
how much was the suit and what thread count cashmere wool was it?
Mike I really appreciate how you take the time and effort out of your trips to record so many little details. Still loving your vlogs :)
thanks so much!!
+Mikey Chen Oh by the way, roughly how much would it cost to get a suit fitted in Hong Kong? And you're welcome man
mine was about $800 USD
+Mikey Chen Dang son... but well worth it for a quality suit. See you in the next video ->->
In NYC the exact same bespoke suit would cost 3 to 4 times more.
I was curious how the suit actually came out!
Cat spotted at the tailors! Which makes it seem like they indeed have a nice work environment. No idea how they manage to keep the catfur off everything haha.
The bathroom probably has a glass wall to maximise the feeling of space in a relativly small room. Lovely video again!

Dealing with extreme insomnia at the moment. Going through and watching some of these older videos. You are truly awesome to watch :)
Who's here looking for Mikey's ex? 😏
I like the fact that they have a cat just walking around their shop
it's good for the fabric in the shop. cat scares the mice.
The window in the bathroom is so when you take a bath, you can relax and see the view...
love that you shared your trip.
you are too CUTE getting a suit made...my husband did that many, many years ago in Hong Kong...we have been married for 30 years and he has had the suit way before we were together...hope yours lasts as long...GREAT MEMORY for him!!! :D

A few years later on a subsequent visit, that was taken out. Don't know if it was specific to the room, but out of 5 trips, only the first room had it.
foolish hardcore party goers probably broke it and injuries were involved and then lawyers.
Actually it probably skeeved people out. The window itself wasn't big by any stretch. Personally, I like the cat walking on the desks in the background 🐱
fantastic attention to detail from the tailors.thats the way all suits should be made.
how much did this cost in us dollars ?
No wonder the great nostalgic sounding music on your way to see your girl friend. Gets you in the heart.
I wish mike would add more of him speaking Chinese in his videos, I’m very interested in the language and it makes him seem like a local when he’s in Asia.

um brown shoes with a navy suit is totally fine.
Depends on the country you're in to be honest. In the US it's fine. In Europe it's a Faux Pas in some social circles.
03:25 is like an easter egg in an Avengers movie!
Everybody should buy a suit when they're in HK. They have some of the best tailors in the world.
You need to tell us where you got that wonderful music from. Hopefully, Shazam can identify it.
They have an in office cat! 13:06
that's their emergency food
here in the states it takes a few weeks to get a suit made. I miss Hong Kong.
My dad loves telling the story about when he got his bespoke suit in Japan. The shop did all clothing and the little woman measuring my dad said, "you are shaped like a woman"... narrow waist and wide chest 🤣

Mikey Chen I can't wait, especially since you live in San Francisco now!
Where is the second part??? I want to see the end result of the suit....lol...
I got mine there too!! Got two suits made from them. Great quality and craftsmanship.
What was the cost of the suits in US dollars?
Rick It's depend on the style you're looking for. But for a standard two button (wool) suit, it's around 650-700 USD.
not bad!!! i imagine if it were done in the states it would be way more>?
How much for ordering back to the US after they have your measurements? Same plus shipping??
I'm the only one who noticed at 12:22 the way the guy lifts the kitty. Haha hilarious!
where can you wear black? Black suits are classic! Any formal event. Basically, any wedding, special dinner, dancing, black and white dance, even work. Black is not just for funerals. You can never go wrong with black. best line, "my boobs are too big"

Renwoxing13 Hacked By Scarce sad really, used to be the cleanest country when I was there 😕
Probably because of how many people there are. I mean look at India. Same thing because of the population.
It's actually an extraterrestrial disguised as a cat.
@@lennytompkins9767 And if you don't like it, you can kiss his furry butt! XD
Mike, thanks for sharing your adventures... I don't really know much about you, what you do, and why you share them but I'm subbed and following your adventures! It takes some guts filming people everywhere you run around. Keep up the good work!

you gave me ton's of idea what to do, when i go to hong kong. all these shopping places, restaurants, and that friendly taylor, and the Cat..

how much do you pay? high and low
This is a cool video! I have ALWAYS Wanted to go to Hong Kong with an empty suitcase and get some suites and shirts made - buy all my clothes when I'm there.
haha my thoughts exactly
Rest In Peace chef!, thanks for the videos Mikey! I watch you everyday!
OMG - the landscape - soo beautiful...awesome!
Throwing this out there for exposure again since I've seen this asked a lot - The song that plays at 1:40 is called "The Silk Queen of LeiZu" by Tony Chen
My Korman Suites in Canada you can see the beds through a pass through from the bathroom.
That bus man! I love it, always this bus to TST not the Airport express. Air conditioning, space and that view!
Yep, same for me - quickest customs ever, i felt a bit weird like did they forget something?..
Wow you can see the buildings in HK are really cramped together really tight. And the steamed milk was pretty good.
Mike, I'd love to see you in the finished suit.....I'm sure you look dashing. Enjoyed the music with this video. Thanks for sharing.
@12:45 you can already see how well it drapes over his shoulder/lats and chest
Last time I was in Hong Kong I had a pair of shoes made in the hotel. They lasted many years.
Window viewing the bathroom from the bedroom!
That was exactly my first reaction when I was in a Chinese hotel
Love the cat in the back at 13:20

dude, it would've been very helpful for you to put the link for part two in the video.
"and a scale just incase you eat too much, and want to make yourself feel bad" 😂😂 hilarious man keep it up
Well Mike thank you for sharing your experience with us, it's very entertaining and informative
So sweet that there's a little kitty in there !
the part where he is just sitting in the bus and you get to watch traffic was so relaxing
The hotel in singapore changi airport had a bath like that and i could see straight to the gate sign above the gate to the plane if i popped my head up out of the bath ^_^
Great video my friend - Such a different world thank you for sharing your trip with us !
I remember reading about having a suit made in a day. this was from a very old book. looks like its been a tradition for ages
What i like in japan is their life style the night life of playing custom sports cars. Cars are costume upgraded for drag racing.
my parents are from hk so go there every year to visit family and stuff and i always go there in the summer vacation
What are the music in the begining ? thank you
13:07 real live HELLO KITTY!!!
The kitty totally stole the show! Ironically in a clothing shop of all places!
The standard of your room is actually quite good. Usually the bath is so tiny they put the shower just over the toilet. Are you still satisfied with your suit ?
At this time, I literally lived right below this place ... I could've met his awesome person!
Welcome to HK! Make sure you visit the Andrew Zimmern recommended snake soup shop in Sham Shui Po. Tastes like chicken.
That tailor really impressed me, most old ones don't have modern style knowledge.
Amazing drive and I loved seeing the sight but you lost me when the cat appeared at the Tailor's shop. ;)
Oh man I remember the humidity. It hits you like a brick wall as soon as you step one foot out of the airport. You get used to it though.
the open window is for anti-theft, so you can see your room all the time
9:21 “oh thank god that curtain closes. Not issues of privacy” lol so funny
yeah, the humidity in HK is killer, like no other place
How much was everything ? From plane tiket, hotel, suit and tailor. Everything seems quite nice and I've never been out of country . May have to take a trip to Hong Kong
Great video! Hotel was cool and I can't wait to see how the suit turns out. Request: next time you are in Hong Kong (or, if you are still there) please show us what is left of Kowloon!
i watch your Beyond Science vids but had no idea you did others. You will look amazing in that suit.
Great clip Mike! And we saw the girl in your background picture! ;)
Keep us updated on the final suit dude
will do!
Thank you for the video. I have just discovered your channel. I am looking forward to exploring it.
I have been to Kong Kong twice, both times at the end of summer which is humid enough! Next time, I shall go in cooler weather! But it is a magnificent city. I really love it.
Maybe a nk agent she doesn’t want her cover exposed
Not bad having a suit made by the Hong Kong version of David Carradine! The guy seemed so cool!
Love his joke - one side for summer, one side for winter
lol me too
Mike could u plz put the directions to this suit place, or if they have a website put the link up plz?
The guy is super friendly n looks like he knows what he's doing.
done :-)
The whole highlight of this video was the white/orange cat in the background at the end XD kitty!!!!
you have quickly become my new favorite youtuber. i follow all your channels ! especially beyond science !
Cool! We want to see you in the finished suit, Mike :) I don't like extreme heat and humidity, but I wished I could be there in HK; It looks wonderful!!!
haha yea def should visit, maybe in the winter
loved the shot of your drive to the hotel!
airport express is HK$90 one way , very comfortable and 30 mins to Tsim sha thui
