short note here. change that Flex (dryer) duct out put Hard pipe its illegal in Georgia, easy to caught fire with Lint and most insurance company's wont cover you if there's a fire...hope you take this advice to heart :) Great video.
nice video, with the inverter system you may not even need the 90% furnace. good to have a back up though. we have installed many inverter systems here in south west Missouri and the back up system is only used about 2% of the total run time. customers are extremely impressed with the comfort and efficiency of the system.
Can you install a system that is only filtered with the fiberglass media filters on the return grate? Seems like having the filters on the coil is a pain to get to
Mistakes happen it what you do to correct them. Everyone makes them. If we were all perfect there wouldn't be erasers on pencils. You are a good guy. Thank you for what you do. Have a blessed day
Hey Ralph, I did something similar with my system except my duct was 2" wider than the transition. I made up a wide drive cleat and filled the gap nicely. Since you mentioned that you had to crawl under the duct to get at the service side of the unit and filter cabinet, what if you had turned the filter cabinet around so that it was facing the crawl space access door? Maybe if there was enough room to slide out the filter on that side you wouldn't have to crawl under the duct every time. Just a thought - I'm older now and hate having to crawl around too much!
Hello, my name is Steve first of all I want to say I appreciate your videos. this video, maybe I missed it but with your zone system did you run a bypass one zone is shut down? Maybe I missed it in the video but would be interested in how you ran your bypass and how you sized that bypass. Thank you and keep up the good work. from an Illinois hvac guy.
Nice work. When you have oversized ductwork, does your airflow balancing without zoning stay relatively the same as before? Or is there potential for too much air being pushed down the shorter oversized runs as is now before your zoning system install?
The furnace is designed for the 5 speed outdoor unit. The outdoor unit tells the blower what speed it needs to be in. The only thing 2 stage about the furnace is the gas valve.
It looks like the threaded rod on the right is going to be in the way of that filter access. Is that perspective, or is that another mistake, lol. Great video.
I watched a few of your videos about brands of equipment, how do you decide which brand to use from job to job. Where I'm at the big brand is Carrier. We install tempstar because of the service that we get from the tempstar dealer, they are great and they deliver to the job for us so that's also a perk. It was a pretty easy transition from carrier since it's basically just rebadged.
I live in Phoenix, AZ and I have an uncle in Springfield, MO. I perform some home repairs when I visit. I was crawling under his house and noticed the the duct work (older home), 6" round metal run from main trunk, between floor joists, with 24" R9 stapled to the floor joists. No other insulation on the duct or in the floor. You mentioned that your crawl space was humid, I noticed that was also the case in my uncle's house. Over the years the moisture has condensed around the duct work and has caused the insulation to fall down. I was told that covering the ground in the entire crawl space, with 6mm plastic down would reduce the humidity. Is this worthwhile to reduce the humidity in the crawlspace? Or would disconnecting the duct work and sliding round insulation over the existing duct work (R8.0)?
ive got a question for yall can r22freon be used in a r410a condenser? I just bought the r410a condenser and the guy I hired said it was fine because if he used r410afreon he would have to change the whole sysytem and that r22 would be fine is this true or bs?
+Jack Daniels I don't know how screwed you are but at this point I would get someone else out there to fix the issue. R22 won't hurt the compressor but because he used R22 in it to begin with I have doubts to his abilities as a tech.
+T&N Services LLC. Reading back your original post I would say you are screwed. You have to change the inside part to make it right. No if ands or buts about it.
you can not use 22 for 410a. say your old condenser was 22 you need to change evap coil, lines to condenser and the condenser to convert to 410a. as far as using 410a condenser with 22 I don't think so... the reason you can't mix 22 and 410 is because of their oils. 22 mineral (I believe) and 410a p.o.e. these don't mix... so now... the compressors all come with oil I believe to match the type of refrigerant. I'm not sure what happens if they mix but they are not supposed to mix for some scientific reason I'm not sure of yet. less then 1 year tech experience so far lol. maybe someone will let me know if I'm on the right track?

The dryer vent is just temporary till I have time to rerun another one.
Some of us when we say Temporary in Georgia that's 3 years Haha... Understand make more videos :) take care.

I know what your saying about not needing a 90% but in my case I don't have the height to do a flue for a 80%. So I'm stuck with the ole 90%'r

I like it

Great video Ralph. Thanks for posting!
That's not a mistake that's a field repair. Good stuff Ralph.
Nice work Ralph. It's not a mistake if you can fix it.
The difference from a average service tech and a Awesome service tech is the ability to overcome a obstacle and make stuff work with what you have
Good looking work Ralph,
amen wer'e all only human!!!!

Great job and video Ralph
beautiful work Ralph
A craftsman is not someone who doesn't make mistakes. A craftsman knows how to correct them...or bury them
Man I'm glad I'm in basement country. good job. I'm not ashamed to use flex duct in places like that.
People make mistakes but looking good

OR just install a filter return grill upstairs!! loop loop

The filter slides out with ease. The video made the threaded rod look like it was in the wrong place
What brand of zone board will you use?
What type of zone board are you going to use Ralph?? Ewc?
Keeping it at 100

Did you use the observer thermostat?

You need to lower the humidity. Either by venting or plastic.
Where can I buy the sporlan smart tool kit.
ralph did you stop doing vids i miss them
+Bill Weyhmiller just taking a break from it. I've got some coming up though.
ralph did you stop doing vids i miss yours
Looking Good Ralph!
Looks good considering that tight ass spot. The only mistake you made is installing that garbage tempstar😁

+Jack Daniels not sure why anyone would put R22 in a unit designed for 410A I'm going to call BS on this one.
it worked for a month then it got a leak and im guessing its a big one imo how fucked am I on a scale of 1-10?
+Jack Daniels I don't know how screwed you are but at this point I would get someone else out there to fix the issue. R22 won't hurt the compressor but because he used R22 in it to begin with I have doubts to his abilities as a tech.

Thanks John
I want to zone my 1000sqf home. Living room , master bedroom, and the rest of my home, 3 zones, what zoning system do you recommend?
Saul Rosas Honeywell zoning module with Honeywell dampers
Next level Ralph!!!
Nice looking duct you've got here Ralph
That was not a mistake. Deep down your brain knew you wanted to upsize that run so it tricked you into it. Sometimes we're smarter than we realize.
👍🏽
Hey man I live in Cumming!
Not a mistake Ralph ...just a happy accident , good vid !
nice looking ductwork
That's under a house
Where are the Brine pipes? Arkla Servel air cooled natural gas absorptions units? Are you all voting for Nixon or Humphrey? :)
