The recorder works like a charm. The sound quality is very clear! I can't say enough nice things about this small recorder. It is easy to use. It gives very clear crisp recordings and picks up sounds in its neighbourhood easily. More than happy with the quality.
Thanks Dale! Found you because of the digital recorder but stayed for the kayaking! Each summer I work on the Chicago River near the lakeshore giving tours so this was right up my alley. Just ordered the PX470 and also subscribed.

Sir can I use this recorder for recording the teacher audio in a classroom of 150 students.....That too crystal clear......We have speaker everywhere in our class though

Hi Dale-I just bought this same recorder for the same reason. Does the stereo 4 conductor plug work as is with the recorder or do you need to use the 3 conductor adapter cable along with it? It did not look like you were using that 3 conductor extension. A similar lapel mic I am using with mine will not work unless I use the 4 conductor to 3 conductor extension cable.
That's what I found out myself with the mic I bought. I don't like it too much though because the 4 conductor to 3 conductor adapter is a plug instead of a cable/plug. Too easy to get broke I think. I didn't see you utilizing the 4" adapter cable at home or in the kayak with the recorder which is why I was a bit confused.
Chez Jacque I have tested many lapel microphones to find out which will work best. I totally recommend the Sony ECM-CS3 for this recorder. I’m doing a review on this today. Stay tuned.
