  • Helicopter crash! Why a helicopter with an engine failure doesn't just fall out the sky. Thanks to autorotation, a pilot can safely land the aircraft. How do pilots learn how to perform and master autorotations? How do pilots train for the (unlikely) event of an engine failure? Let's find out. We'll do 3 autorotations in Robinson R22 and R44 helicopters. We'll finish with a (spectacular) "full touchdown autorotations" - that's when you disengage the engine completely for the entire approach and landing and even touch down without any engine assistance, just using energy in your altitude, speed and the energy left in the rotor.
