Haha thanks for the call mate, some pearls in this video! Now i just need to use the tip of getting into the water, to try catch another ! Back to that, hooroo.
Just bought my first speargun last week while I was in Maui. I've been dreaming about spear fishing for YEARs and your videos helped me get my nerve up to finally do it. I only had 1 day to hunt, but it was a huge learning curve. Pulled the trigger twice and missed horribly both times. Can't wait for the next trip!!
@thors blot i once seen a leather take out a cruise ship with one bite, im suprised your friends brother even had anything left of him to drag to shore. :O
The editing keeps getting better each episode keep it up! If you're ever in WA we would all love to see you collaborate with Brodie from Youngbloods. Yeww
Hamachi Kama is my favorite yellowtail dish. And likely the easiest recipe one could find. The collars are often overlooked, but a real delicacy on this fish.
Also letting your mate shoot the first kingy allows you shoot a bigger one as the king school follows up the speared fish , this gives you a better pickings at a closer range most of the time
Brilliant video as always man! Arriving in Sydney in just over a weeks time to travel the east coast from Sydney to Darwin for 3 months so looking forward to hopefully getting into a few kingies as they evaded us last year! Keep up the top class videos been a fan for years now!
Haven't seen one in Tassie yet, but really hoping to come across one before they leave us at the end of season. Love your tips on pulling them in. Easy to overlook safety when you're excited about a new fish!
loved the vid this fish has been on my bucket list since I started spearing and I've just had bad luck with them ever since but I'm pretty keen on spearing one after watching this vid
You are awesome. I dive Rockport & Gloucester, MA. If you ever want to dive rocky New England coastline or hit up Block Island for striper, lmk. Thank you, Dan!
Thanks for another great video Daniel. Not many kingfish in Cornwall but nice to see fish 🐟🐟from other parts of the world. Have a great Xmas and a happy New year looking forward to next years adventures.👍👍
Such great technique stunning video makes me wanna go back and try my own hand at it. The vibes, wakes my instinct I wanna go, setup a playlist with Metallica and Delta Parole and go off into my own world right this moment.
Legend 💪🏽. This video came right on time. I’m targeting kings this weekend. I’ll be sure to put all ur tips in practice and hopefully land my first Kingfish.
If only you posted this video a few days earlier 😫 I shot my first kingfish the other day and after battling with it for a few minutes it my spear broke off as I was handling it in the water and it swam off 😭 any tips for handling it and dispatching it in the water? Also I’ll be sure to tag you guys in the video though when I upload it! 👍
Once it’s tired out and you can bring it to the surface grab their tail, can’t swim very far without that. Then slide the other hand into the gills and grab the throat. Release grip on tail, grab knife and finish it off.
Bro I was looking yesterday for a vid on what to do with big kingfish and the next day my favourite SpearFishing youtuber post a vid on it MY LUCK😍 love the vids bro keep it up your top quality tips and vids have given me so much advice so keep it up🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
Did alot of Spearfishing, late 70's early 90's alot with a Chap called Alan langton (RIP) also held world Kingfish Record back then. We commonly used a spronger on the on the shaft which tended to splay out on impact and do alot more damage, particulary when hit along spine line you had a good chance of taking out a vital piece, Just dont seem to see many of the modern Spear'os using a sprong head.
I think in Australia we call a similar device a pranger. Brass base with 6 barbs soldered in, came in 6" and 8" varieties. I use them in certain situations.
Wishing I could just tag along with ya on any of your dives to get some Daniel Mann one on one experience and different fish varieties. “COOLER” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Im new to spearing and to shoot a Sydney king is a goal of mine, just wondering why you would not shoot the king on the drop and wait to shot a mulloway? Do mulloway taste better or are they more prized? 5:10
Have you ever messed with the Japanese technique Ike Jime? Supposedly helps preserve the meat if you need to store it for a few. I use a cooler haha get some!
Daniel Mann yeah the worst part is to leave Sydney behind and to turn back to the UK. I never considered spearing in the UK before, but this time I might try to get involved.

Again a great video, even without kingfish here in Europe. Offtopic Question. Do you shave your beard a bit under the nose for diving, or does your mask fits that good and does not leak though the facial hair?
Trout are easy, they actually come towards you to see what you are.. they are quite inquisitive. Slow down your movements and they will feel more relaxed. As for where to find them, any reef that has abit of current. Don't think ive ever not seen them.
You are a big inspirator 👍 i have never tryed spearfishing , but after watching youre channel i am gonna start. But first i need all the gear . All i have is wetsuit and abc. Do you have some tips on what to get . Type ,Gun / floate ? Greatings from South of Norway .
Great vid about a fish not found in Scotland but good advice as always. No one gonna mention that lovely sparkly number you're wearing? Are you a fan of Soft Cell? 😎 😁
@@DanielMannHey man. I wondered if that was the crack but wasn't sure and felt it worth a mention in case you were propping up Swarovski shares. No offence, like, but I thought you'd borrowed it from yer Mrs. 😜 Oh I saw my first big predator when in Menorca in Autumn. A 6' long Learfish(Jack). No gun as on holiday nor camera to record my childlike screaming as the battery was dead The kayak hire dude, 200 yards away on the shore, said I was screaming. Lol I had never seen a fish like that while in the water (100kg skate I have caught on rod and line) and for a few seconds I almost shat myself as it homed in. Awesome and I was pumped for hours after. Just teasing with the jumper btw. 😊
Merry Christmas Daniel, hope you have a great skiing trip. Tasty, tasty Kingfish are my favourite LBG species and available here in NSW almost all year round. The big ones are really dirty fighters even on heavy gear off the stones and you earn every one you land. It must be full on hand-to-hand combat when you spear a big one - if you don't get that instant stone shot. BTW, you have superb IQ in your interview sections of the video. Still using the GH5 ? Cheers, Gavin

"I've shot King fish in some extreme dirty water. 4, 5 meters"

Find a shallow clear spot and shoot at a target 100 times. You will hit everything after that!
Great tips Daniel,I've never seen King fish where I spear fishing.are there King fish in the west Mediterranean Sea?
Not in the med but they are closely related to the amberjack.
"Chully Ben" Haha what a crack up
Nice
Any tips for spearing tuskies?
Great video as always, wondering if you have any plans to spear any Pike in a Norwegian lake perhaps? Maybe you'd have better luck than the last time!
If I go to Norway diving it's not for pike! Halibut, cod, coal fish, monkfish, scallops.
ive been spearfishing for 8 years now havent found a big fish do you know any tips to lure big fish in
Depends where in the world you’re diving.
Hi Daniel I was just wondering if you sharpen your spear tip
Yes, a sharp spear is important.
Again a great video, even without kingfish here in Europe. Offtopic Question. Do you shave your beard a bit under the nose for diving, or does your mask fits that good and does not leak though the facial hair?
I always shave a little under the nose/top lip before a dive. The rest of the beard is fine.
Saludos hermano desde República Dominicana buena pesca
Hey daniel, What are your thoughts on using a double flopper when chasing kings along the rocks in Sydney?
Not really necessary. A single flopper will work fine.
Danny, for Dentex come to Croatia...
The Adriatic is very difficult 😫
Yes, I know verry well :-)
Big fish 👍 💓
You should make one on spearing trout 😁
Not much technique required on those I’m afraid, would be a short video!
Or maybe finding them, like what tides, what side of the reef and stuff like that. Probably still be a short video ahahah
