Two things: 1. I do a lot of shoredive spearfishing, and if you don't, you might not really appreciate the athletic ability it takes to swim over a mile out and back, in strong current, and still have the energy to dive and spearfish once you're out there! Without being REALLY sure what the current is doing out there, I wouldn't start that far out if you're new to it. (I am definitely not going that far!) 2. Appreciate the explanation of your setup! I do this with a paddle board (not standing, just swimming on it like a surfboard) and I love the ability to just get up and lie on the board between dives to catch my breath sometimes. Great footage and not something I would do alone. You can't swim out too far where I live in Florida, as you'd take a big chance at getting run over by a boat. A kayak would serve you well.
This video dropped just in time! I recently bought the best hunter Okipa 2 buoy for a medium swim (1.3 km of shore) and I was thinking how can i improve it. I also purchased a electric scooter to save even more time and energy while swimming to the spot. Amazing editing as always cheers!
@@SRHartley the scooter I use is the SUBLUE whiteshark mix pro, I hold it while I’m laying on the buoy, the battery life is just enough for me to travel 1.3 km of shore and back before it runs out of juice. When I arrive to the spot I just place it on top of the buoy and ofc I strap it to the buoy itself with the strap you get when you buy it. If your worried about the battery life I would recommend to get a spare battery to take with you on your dive(I’m considering buying another one for my peace and quiet)

Epic stuff Dan, I've just goy myself a kayak for those longer distances. Tried it out in close yesterday and it's so good to dive from 😁🥳 Just need some more time off work and some good weather to get out to some spots now 🤞
@@DanielMann I have an inflatable kayak, it is nice to pootle around in, but hard on the arms, especially with a headwind against the tide (Peddle ones might be v good but are generally not inflatable so appropriate transport for it is req).
Keep it up Mr daniel Also dou you have any tip for seasickness and how to get rid of it by training cuz i dive occasionally because the atlantic sea in my country goes good for spearfishing very occasionally average
Thoughts on colour correction on spearfishing footage? Do you do it much? Ive played with it a little in davinci, as a total amateur its hard to keep the noise out of the footage but looks so much nicer with better colour.
@@DanielMann I have a Best Hunter Okipa 3 Board and the only thing I do not like about these boards are their flimsy valves. They leak air all the time. Last summer I inflated the tubes to max and super glue the valves. I was happy until the weather got colder. As I have inflated and glued the tubes when the air temp. was around 40, the tubes got deflated (due to temperature difference) when the air temp dropped significantly in winter. The float did not had too much buoyancy to begin with (even though it is one of the bigger ones but not as big as the patrol) so with deflated tubes the buoyancy got even worse and did not support my weight. I got the float as I always do shore diving and until recently my closest diving spot was a mile offshore. However, I quickly found out that doing a supported swim with these floats is not the best idea in Cyprus summer as the temp got up to 45 an water temp up to 31. I only can last few minutes swimming supported with the board, then I had emerge myself to water to cool and prevent a heatstroke. I was hoping them it would be more beneficial in winter but with the current condition of the tubes it is not. However as a good news, one of the companies came up with better inner tubes with better looking valves for a similarly designed float. So I am hoping if I can get hold of those inner tubes the float would be more functional. But if I am buying a new float next time it would be a dropped stitched body board type one. There is a chance to attach a powerful electric motor to those as well (check scubajet) which should really help getting me to the dive locations without increasing my hear rate.
Hi chap, love the videos you make…beautiful content! Just thinking it would be mega if you had a 360 camera with you so as you drive down we can see a different perspective of your drops. Hope you have a great day :)
Using a buoy increase your speed in the sea versus just swimming with fin? I was thinking to buy a kayak but paddeling in kayak must be hard as well. Hobby kayak with pedal look like same paddling inside sea with carbon fin . I am looking energy saving .
Excellent content Daniel. Looks like the South Coast. If so it is useful for folks to know that the tide flows parallel to the shore. Swim out with tide change at mid part of dive to put you back in approx same spot on shore. Wind direction will also have a say with a bigger float. What depth at a mile out? Here on the Lizard in Cornwall that will get you in very deep waters. Also, what guns are you using?

@@DanielMann thank you so much Daniel will check it out. I’m based in Malta, as an utter newbie I have to say I’m finding it difficult to catch anything. Tips for newbies including increasing aim might make for a great vid :)
Great video as usual m8
Cheers!
Great footage and not something I would do alone. You can't swim out too far where I live in Florida, as you'd take a big chance at getting run over by a boat. A kayak would serve you well.
Nice fish wings ... ill put them in the smoker along with the fish heads ... really enjoy your vids
I need to get in to smoking, one of these days!
This video dropped just in time! I recently bought the best hunter Okipa 2 buoy for a medium swim (1.3 km of shore) and I was thinking how can i improve it. I also purchased a electric scooter to save even more time and energy while swimming to the spot. Amazing editing as always cheers!
Be interested to hear about your electric scooter setup. Do you hold it or is it attached to your float? Which one is it and what is the range like?
I’ve thought about the electric scooter before but I love the exercise!
My brother my people been doing long swim like that in Cuba,Varadero beach swimming sometimes over 6km along de beach is not easy and always dangerous never do it alone that’s the one rule only the experts do it,great video be safe and good hunting.
Yippee, the marinade is also available in Germany! Now all that's missing is the fish...
Epic stuff Dan, I've just goy myself a kayak for those longer distances. Tried it out in close yesterday and it's so good to dive from 😁🥳
Just need some more time off work and some good weather to get out to some spots now 🤞
I’ve heard of these inflatable kayaks, tempting!
@@DanielMann haha I went all out and got a fancy pedal kayak, I wanted to have a decent platform to fish off as well as dive from 😅
@@DanielMann I have an inflatable kayak, it is nice to pootle around in, but hard on the arms, especially with a headwind against the tide (Peddle ones might be v good but are generally not inflatable so appropriate transport for it is req).
Keep it up Mr daniel
Also dou you have any tip for seasickness and how to get rid of it by training cuz i dive occasionally because the atlantic sea in my country goes good for spearfishing very occasionally average
I use antihistamine tablets. They block the same part of your brain that makes you get hayfever as well as motion sickness.
Thoughts on colour correction on spearfishing footage? Do you do it much? Ive played with it a little in davinci, as a total amateur its hard to keep the noise out of the footage but looks so much nicer with better colour.
I grade every clip in every video 😎
@@DanielMann good to know!
awesome, a mile out to sea ! are there any currents which can make you drift away from your float? do you have a safety line to your float?
Definitely currents to be aware of. I can swim quite after over arm with fins so not too worried about not getting back to the float.
That’s a super vid with some top hunting on display 👌
Thanks mate, trying to emulate the best 😉
Im impressed by how long u can hold ur breath
Never thought of trying Nando sauce on fish wings... Good suggestion!
It’s a winner!
If you know anyone at Insta360, tell them I’m keen 🤣
Red light filter for the camera! You wont regret it, makes the footage perfect
Where in the uk can one go spear fishing like this. So cool
All along the south coast of England.
Using a buoy increase your speed in the sea versus just swimming with fin? I was thinking to buy a kayak but paddeling in kayak must be hard as well. Hobby kayak with pedal look like same paddling inside sea with carbon fin . I am looking energy saving .
Brilliant video ,What gps are you using to save your dive locations ?
Just a simple Garmin GPS 73.
Solid content dude
Excellent content Daniel. Looks like the South Coast. If so it is useful for folks to know that the tide flows parallel to the shore. Swim out with tide change at mid part of dive to put you back in approx same spot on shore. Wind direction will also have a say with a bigger float. What depth at a mile out? Here on the Lizard in Cornwall that will get you in very deep waters. Also, what guns are you using?
Yes it’s the south coast of England. I was maximum about 12m on this dive. Ended up 2.3km out actually. Using Meandros B32 spearguns in this video.
@@DanielMann - You obviously invest in the best kit available. I may have to value myself more this Christmas ;)
I use what works and doesn’t break easily. After 20 years of spearfishing I still tinker constantly.
Think you may trigger some South Africans too🇿🇦 Nando's 😂great video as always 👍
🤣🤣🤣
Gotta learn to be more patient like you with my shots. Well done. Your harpoons, what mm tickness do they have?
I use either 6.5mm or 6.25mm shafts with 17.5mm bands.
Best video yet 👍
Too kind 🙌
Awesome video great guy :)
We need to get out there together asap!! Need some wings! Great video by the poshest bogan there is!!
Weather is good this week 👀👀👀
That’s nuts 👍🏻
Daniel are you not worried about BOs while diving alone?
Daniel you should offer an online course for beginners... I really want to get into spearfishing but. Ijust don't know where to start... love your content btw
I’ve thought about making one but I’m also not sure where to start 🤣 Ryan Myers has one coming out soon!
The water bottle loop is a great item.
I can’t believe I’ve never found one before. Works brilliantly.
Awesome video, thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hello Mr. Mann. Could you tell me where you bought the carbon flag handle from? Maybe you can provide a link, I have a similar buoy and want to be more visible to everyone at sea. Thank you in advance! Thanks for sharing very useful information! Greetings from Bulgaria!
Hey, it was from Amazon. 5mm unidirectional carbon fibre rod. Can also find it on eBay really easily.
Hey Daniel, just noticed that you don't use the Aqualung mask!
What is this new mask?
I guess it's a good one if you replaced the Aqualung...
Cheers
It’s the Omer wolf mask. Still have the micro but testing something that is still being manufactured as the aqualung has ceased production.
@@DanielMann thanks!
Happy with this one?
The GoPro on top is not annoying?
The GoPro is on a head strap and not the mask. I’ll never use a mask with the mount.
Although this is cool, don't go out alone... U donno when something would go wrong.. stay safe guys 🤗🤗
Which brand are your sunglasses they are sick
So good for boating and driving a car, zero glare in the side. www.mokenvision.com/en/hawkins-glacier/376-431-hawkins-glacier-3760314191906.html#/215-color-navy_cooper
Hey bro 4k res whats the rest of your settings for underwater shooting? If it isnt to much to ask. Have gopro 11 black trying to get best shots i can for shooting fish. Thank you ahead of time!
