imagine how much better the nfl would be if an onside punt was possible - tyreek hill sprinting down the sidelines to recover a punt in a close dolphins playoff game
@billbaird2273 well I disagree with your take BUT I am absolutely on board with the onside punt thing. I think what you're not taking into account is how much bigger and better the NFL players are than the CFL. You need 4 downs or the game wouldn't go anywhere. The fair catch is for safety so you don't get destroyed every time you catch a kick.
As an American I think it's awesome you're putting these videos together. The rules of Canadian football fascinate me, so having these compilations readily available is an amazing resource.
The CFL is the same, but with weird rules and way less talent lol. As a Canadian and living in the 2024 Grey Cup Champions, I cant even finish a full CFL game, it's so boring, a smooze fest of punt. I wanna show my friends how rules are weird with that video.
@@GillesPaquet-Allaire No, not really. I really mean it when I say try finishing a game and you’ll see how exciting it actually is, 60% decided in final 3 minutes.

@@GillesPaquet-AllaireI can’t disagree with you having that opinion but I’m saying it’s sort of silly to say it’s boring and also I don’t watch it and haven’t for the past 15 years. If last year’s Grey Cup was a Super Bowl it would be considered one of the best of all time. Also, statistically it’s untrue that there is more punting in the CFL than NFL. In one game last year for example, the Bombers only punted once in the whole game with less than a minute left in the fourth quarter. If that’s your opinion go ahead that’s fine but I’m just saying finishing a game with an open mind is not a bad idea.

Cause there weren’t any lions down field and it avoided giving up a safety potentially. If they had waited til 3rd down it increases the chances of a big return or good field position for BC. Doing it then means the chances of either team recovering are more even.
Sorry, I should have asked, were you talking about the bc sask one where the qb lateraled to the player who kicked it or the Toronto Hamilton one where the receiver punted it after a forward pass?
@@generalmoonstoneyeah no problem, all you need to know is that this was the last play of the half and Hamilton was winning 6-4. It’s a smart play since a rouge is the easiest way of getting one last score before halftime, and like with the other play if you do it after a catch the other team is unprepared with no one downfield so it’s more likely to work. It’s also handy that a rouge here would give them a 3 point advantage at halftime rather than a two point advantage, so if Toronto responded with a field goal after halftime the score would at least be tied. Ultimately it didn’t work but still fun to watch nonetheless.
@@cflhighlights9370 Thanks for clearing that up. I knew you could get a rouge on a punt, I just didn't think about it in that situation. And the CFL is fun to watch. If the NFL had some of the same rules, it would be more fun as well.
What a complete botch job on the camera work on that second clip.... can anyone confirm my understand my understanding of what happened? Kellett missess the kick, and Noel Prefontaine jussst keeps it from going out of the endzone. He kicks it out, then sprints after the ball (since he can recover his own kick). The ball hits Kellett's leg(?) allowing all of the cover team to attempt to recover the ball. Prefontaine blocks the attempted punt, leading to one kicker blocking the other for probably the only time ever... sound about correct?
I actually never thought of the BC player picking it up as trying to punt it but yeah his motion does kind of look like that. I don’t think the ball ever touched Kellett’s leg though.
@@cflhighlights9370 the camerawork was so poor the plot is completely lost. there has to be a reason why No Yards wasn't called (including the possibility that the refs messed up) but I can't figure it out.

Have to also get rid of the fair catch, touchback, make the field bigger, go to 3 downs, or else NFL would still suck.

Their kicker was ejected earlier in the game for a fight. They had a wide receiver kick the game winning field goal in overtime.
