A really great and well rounded variety. I have grown and eaten his type but that was quite a few years back. From my experience this is one that doesn't have a major standout feature but does hold its own in many ways. Decent slicer, decent taste, decent shape, decent saucer, etc. Just a good old fashioned type. The hybrid part is a bit of a deal breaker somewhat but overall a great grow. Great video. Thanks for the share!
Last year I grew CC Red and it wasn't as productive as Bella Rosa or Big Beef nor as tasty IMO. I've got a CC Black review coming very soon. I like it pretty well, but not as much as Cherokee Purple or Black Krim. CC Black is much more productive than the others though so it's a winner there.
Yes. By comparison, the BBP has smaller fruit, a tad less tasty, but has a better plant structure...to me. This is a guess based on memory. I didn't grow them side-by-side to compare in the same environment which is what I typically do in comparison trials.
@@brentginastravelingadventures If it’s not as tasty I might pass. I live in AZ where it’s pretty difficult to grow tomatoes because they don’t set well in the heat. Big Beef was recommended by a local gardener, but it was the non-plus version. If you have any suggestions for a tomato that might do well, it would be appreciated. Thanks for the reply and have a good day!
@@archstanton9703 I'm reluctant to even mention this because it doesn't help you at the moment. But, I have the perfect tomato for you. Brandybear. It tastes better than Big Beef, is more productive, and sets in high heat in a side-by-side grow with Big Beef, Bella Rosa, Chef's Choice Red, and Big Dena. It's my latest parthenocarpic tomato variety. The problem is I can't sell it or give any seed away yet. The reason I tell you is because I'll make sure it's out just as soon as I'm able. If you sub, you'll see my work on my tomatoes from time to time. In high heat, cherry tomatoes do the best.
@@brentginastravelingadventures Last summer I grew Bella Rosa, Big Beef, Chef Choice Black, Black Krim, Roadster, Red Snapper, Grand Marshall, Thunderbird, Hossinator, Stilitz, Sun Gold, and several dwarf varieties. Bella Rosa was the most productive of the bunch. That’s too bad about your tomato variety no being available because I’m looking for that miracle tomato. I’ll subscribe and look forward to learning more about Brandybear.

Really? How odd the difference. It's tops IMO. Guess that's how it goes, eh?
Brent, have you formed any opinion on the family of Chef's-Choice tomatoes?

Have you tried Big Beef Plus?
