  • Today we head north and make a rough, late winter crossing to Washington Island for a couple of nights in hopes of capturing the Milky Way. The weather forecast: clear and cold - perfect conditions for astrophotography. Join me 'Behind The Door' as we encounter equipment failures, composition obstacles, meet up with an old friend, and discover and unravel the mystery of an abandoned caboose at the bottom of a quarry on an island that has NO trains. It's quite the adventure.
The music in this video is used with permission by island native Julian Hagen and include his compositions and performances of: "Lucky Man Blues", "It Is What It Is", "Break The Cycle", and the anthemic "Northern Lights" from the albums "The Company He Keeps" and "How Things Change". julianvhagen@gmail.com

The caboose image is wonderful and certainly unique, it looks like you were able to light it from the inside too. What a treasure trove of photographic subject material! My favorite photo of the bunch, and they are all great, is the bridge and shack - that is the one I would choose to hang on my wall. In my mind that image tells a story that I really like. Thank you for the videos, awesome as always I just wish they were longer!

Thank you, Tim Mahaffey! You are very kind to say that. I really like shooting up on the island. Funny you should mention that it looks like I lighted the caboose from the inside too. During test shots I noticed the windows were black and would look better illuminated. Trouble was, I had placed all the lights I had to properly light such a big foreground object. So, I moved my car around to the far side of the caboose facing toward it and turned on my parking lights. It was just enough to add glow to the windows. Thanks for your loyal following!

@@KODOPhoto I am just being truthful ..., and enjoying your channel and recognized all the work you put into it .I do not think a team of writers and producers could come up a show not even close to your level of expertise that you do time and time again. You enjoy what you are doing .and are very good at it and that is why your content is so...so ..good ..!.......Question for you have you ever done or covered the history of the making of the Sturgeon bay canal when it was first dug and the whole history on how they did it ..? I think that would be interesting to watch and learn about ...?

47 chevy or gmc. I had a panel truck from that year. Loved the crankout from window ventilation. But that old dodge power wagon is the best of the bunch.
