That moment when I read that the Bohrok were Matoran scarred me like nothing else, since we saw Nuparu, Taipu, and Onepu literally rip apart a few Bohrok to make Boxors. Hoo boy, so Nuparu was basically mutilating Matoran carcasses to make robots out of them. Good job. My #1 plot twist might actually be that Mata Nui died, since that was really shocking when I read the comic back in '07. For a character that so many heroes sacrificed to save, it was meaningless for about 2 months.
The reveal of the Mata Nui robot (and its subsequent takeover by Teridax) is probably still my favourite twist in all of fiction. Advance Copenhagen certainly did the moment justice with their animation. On the off chance that anyone who didn't catch the story while it was ongoing is reading this, that moment when the eyes turned red was essentially our equivalent of the Snap. A moment where, in spite of everything the heroes had done over the course of almost a decade, the bad guy wins.
I really feel that the reveal of the GSR is the ultimate revelation. I remember viewing the animation when I got up in the morning and being unable to think straight the entire day because I was so blown away. Teridax's takeover seemed almost minor in comparison to this one.
Yes it does, and we generally use MU for Matoran Universe. There's lots of other abbrevations we fans use though, like SM for Spherus Magna, MN for... well, that one's hard, since we both have Mata Nui and Metru Nui... anyway, we should make a glossary of these terms online :)
If you are sent somewhere you don't actually originate from that place. You originate where you're conceived. The Toa Mata/Nuva were created by Artakha by order of the Order of Mata Nui. Then they were transported to Daxia and awakened in the Order of Mata Nui fortress there inside a spherical chamber. Then they were trained by Hydraxon and then finally transported to Karda Nui to save the Av-Matoran from the Avokah and then go into the Codrex to sleep in the canisters. For anyone who wanted a brief summary of the Toa Mata/Nuva's origin with most of the details :)
Why isn't the Death of Mata Nui on this list? That was a pretty big one for me, next to the Matoran Universe being revealed to be inside the Giant Mata Nui Robot and Makuta Teridax's takeover of said robot.
No one, because Nuju was just doing that to be stubborn and knew how to talk all along. I mean really, what the hell. Once the Mahri returned to Metru Nui they were greeted by Nuju yelling praises to the sky for the universe being saved, and he shocked everyone. Think about it, the toa we have now in the reboot are the same characters that appeared in 2001, but before mata nui, they went through okoto defeating the skull spiders, skill grinder, and who knows what else after that. Looking away from how the advertisement spoiled it by showing screenshots of Takua putting on the Avohkii, seeing Takua becoming the seventh Toa was legitimately shocking if you had followed the character up to that point. He was pretty much the most well-developed Matoran and every bit a symbol for the golden years as the Toa Mata/Nuva themselves, so seeing him having such a major character shift was pretty unexpected to say the least.
Fun fact: Mata Nui is Māori for big screen or BIG FACE. This could mean that they were planning the island to be literally the face of the giant bot since the start.
Can someone explain how the bohrok work? They once were matoran and changed into the bohrok. Yet the bohrok bodies are more or less a mechsuit for the krana. If the krana is removed the bohrok body shuts down.. so the matoran became the krana or... how does this work O_o

Here are mine: 10- Umbra's existance 9- The bionicle stars disappointing everyone 8- Matoran having poseability 7- Bohrok having the slogan "wake one and you wake them all instead of "buy one and you buy them all" 6- Organic beings in the bionicle world 5- The Rahaga being toa Hagah which are actually good sets 4- Mata Nui being replaced by Ekimu 3- Irnakk's ridiculous face 2- The coming of Hero Factory 1- Gali being voiced by a male in 2015
+The Wenitos Gali being voiced by a male, also this "male" is the only one who voiced all the other characters of this half-minute bionicle mini series, and also, He is the narrator. Maybe the Lego Group had not enougth Budget for bionicle since they had used it to pay someone to make solid-gold masks.
It would be awesome if one day, they did some tinkering and smoothed out the bumped and holes in the plot and released one, giant volume telling all of the G1 story. Also include all of the serials and blogs in chronological order. Hmm.... Maybe someone should do that...
Matoro is alive! on the back of a 2008 comic book promoting 2009, it shows him right next to one of the giant limbs in his I Inika form as a ghost!! Go look it's there.
While the positions of the top two are debatable in my opinion and I did not think that the Red Star reveal was necessarily a *good* twist, I thought that this was a good list. It was a twist in of itself to have Viper do more than appear in podcasts, and I think that she should do more of this. I really do see potential in you, Viper. Now... suggestion? You should do The Top 10 BIONICLE Destinies.
I'm confused. In the great cataclysm, the mata nui robot crashed onto aqua magna, activated its camouflage, and became the matoran universe right? So then why does it seem aqua magna was so far away from bara magna? Or is the matoran universe its own planet? HELP!!!
You know, I don't think even the staff knew. They followed a rule of bad storytelling, which is to make up a big scene and then write the story around creating that scene, rather than letting the story naturally get to that scene and giving the subsequent awesomeness meaning. They didn't know how the Matoran universe was inside of (or originally, on top of) Mata Nui's dormant robot body, the graphic artists just wanted to make a desert with gigantic wave-one balljoints sticking up out of the dunes as an awesome spectacle. While it promises something awesome, we never actually see what form the Matoran universe actually takes inside of Mata Nui's body, or if it's all some sort of mysticism of imagination from a dreaming robot or some such BS, which would defeat the purpose of the mechanical nature of construction for every single being involved and destroy the appeal of the entire franchise on principle... It's too complicated to make as part of the lore of a convoluted bionic-tribal-cyberpunk-magic-plus-technology injection-molded Danish toy. Bionicle's lore was already extremely loose and forced a lot of suspension of disbelief with its very concept and only got more disjointed from there. We got prequels of prequels, timelines that didn't make sense, geography that was cut and pasted solely for visual recognition, names or identities or entire story arcs of characters were shamelessly recycled, none of it leading to any sort of cohesive planned structure that would necessitate this final robot-body outcome from the start. It wasn't planned. It was all pulled out of their butts, solely for the awe and acclaim of autistic inbred nine year olds with their parents' money. The quality went down, and never went back up. TL;DR, *Not even the staff who wrote it know what's going on. It solely existed to sell increasingly crappy toys, and frankly deserved the offhand remark it got in the Lego Movie.*
Newb question, but when exactly was the Red Star revealed as the place where Matoran go when they die? Was it in one of the novels, of which I have only read a few? Also, does that mean that the Red Star is Artahka?
I agree with Teridax takeover as the #1, but I was surprised that we didn't include the revelation of the Order of Mata Nui in Time Trap (by the dying Karzahni plant, of all beings!), an organization that was able to out-trick Makuta into creating the Toa Metru that Mata Nui wanted in the first place. After the Metru Nui saga shows off these massive organizations of bad guys - the brotherhood and the Dark Hunters - lying in wait for the Metru Nui Matoran to return to their universe, it comes a great relief that there's a massive lawful-good organization to help balance it out.
I have a theory or some sort... It includes today's "Bionicle" and the Original ones.. What if...after all that "Makuta" was finally vanished into deep space and found another planet to rule..but, he returned to being a "good guy" but he was still unsatisfied being the "SECOND GREATEST" So, like in the video, the "Toa" were sent to deep space and go to that one planet (Or island, whatever) but they forgot where they came from or what they did in the past few decades...
Well the av matoran turning into Bohrok that is even more sadder than all the others but just the same as matoro but the av matoran thing is more sadder, and the antidermise is a little too scary to me... Unfortunately the brother hood of Makuta didn't exist anymore because of that Savage beast teridax and I am glad teridax is already defeated!

I wonder if Teridax would be pissed if we called him "Terry"
Great video! One plot twist that took by by surprise as a kid was Vakama turning evil. There are too many good ones to choose from to be my favorite though!
the biggest plot twist to me was finding out bionicle has a plot
toa nuva? i thought it was the toa mata who woke up on the beach?
In 2002, after defeating the Bahrag the Toa Mata fell into a pool of protodermis and were transformed into the Toa Nuva, which is just the Toa Mata with enhanced weapons and abilities/powers.
vezon being a clone....still shocks me years later 13 year old me "HOLY SHIT!" 21 year old me "HOLY SHIT!"
Oh look you deleted your comment on me. Nice. What useless and brainless responce. Stupid idiotic statements that are not worth anyones times. Branless stainments that are not worth for any honest, intelligent, discussions. Keep trolling and posting rude, idiotic, retarded comments all over the web. Its good for my entertainment. So everyone can see how idiotic you look. Its good for your reputation. It gets higher and higher.
Chris chavez seriously? K i get it someone says something you dont like you go after them ooo so edgy
+rox driscoll And don´t forget that Hydraxon is also a clone, because the mask of live transformed Dekar when he was near to die into Hydraxon to allow him survive.
ramses alvarez Holy shit!
Does anyone remember the source for that video of Mata Nui rising?
Chateau Chat Ah ok thanks.
Well, the Toa Mata were created on Daxia by Artakha, then they went to Karda Nui
Great video! For future reference, I noticed was that the background music was a little too loud.
"noBODY to go with"
someBODY once told me the world was gonna roll me
Can someone explain how the bohrok work? They once were matoran and changed into the bohrok. Yet the bohrok bodies are more or less a mechsuit for the krana. If the krana is removed the bohrok body shuts down.. so the matoran became the krana or... how does this work O_o
Is Viper going to keep making top 10 videos or is this a one-time thing?
Gorzagh Knight of Gundabad The entire cast will rotate between doing Top 10s. You should see one from everyone eventually, and then the cycle will begin anew. :D
+The TTV Channel Top 10 Phantoka?
+The TTV Channel top 10 bionicle references to Movies , books and other bionicle storys
+The TTV Channel like at 1:53 he says "Ive been waiting for you" = Arnold schquaznegerjskamz
when The Shadowed One killed his homie, Ancient D:
+Chip Biscuit First rule of Project Mayhem is you do not ask questions.
So basically the bohrok are like white blood cells for mata nui? Cool.
Here are mine: 10- Umbra's existance 9- The bionicle stars disappointing everyone 8- Matoran having poseability 7- Bohrok having the slogan "wake one and you wake them all instead of "buy one and you buy them all" 6- Organic beings in the bionicle world 5- The Rahaga being toa Hagah which are actually good sets 4- Mata Nui being replaced by Ekimu 3- Irnakk's ridiculous face 2- The coming of Hero Factory 1- Gali being voiced by a male in 2015
***** meso will never die! that fate is reserved for Solek!
My number 1 is probably Matoro ending up being the one to save Mata Nui
It would be awesome if one day, they did some tinkering and smoothed out the bumped and holes in the plot and released one, giant volume telling all of the G1 story. Also include all of the serials and blogs in chronological order. Hmm.... Maybe someone should do that...
so, when mata nui woke up did he kill the matoran who were on the islands? or am i missin something
I remember losing my shit when I found out the original toa weren't the first
Wow almost half of that i didn't know, I never knew the Bohrok were good guys.
Sweet, a Viper video thats not the ttv podcast/ttv talks. Cool!
Hope Viper does more videos :)
"...because they had NO-BODY to go with!"
Okay. I see what you did there.
0:07 The first time? Sure. But now all I can think is 'Damn, somone's getting a Force Choke for that shoddy helmet work.'
Being a BioVet (original bionicle fan) that was intense for me
That accent is so fun to listen to.
I knew when I started this that #2 would be on there. I was surprised that it wasn't #1 until I actually saw what #1 was.
Matoro sacrificing himself was a heartbreaking plottwist
I loved how they had star wars in the beginning
Anyone know the source for the pic at 4:05? Would love the full-size image!
Wait a minute, Ive been asking this for a while, the Bionicle story takes place In the same time as the toys are released?
On the off chance that you haven't found out for yourself in the interim, Artahka is a separate location.
I personally think #2 should've been #1, but of course it's not my list, and we're all entitled to our own opinions
Finding out that the island of Mata Nui that we've known and loved since 2001 would be destroyed to make way for the MU robot's awakening.
Papyrus: I HATE YOUR PUNS!!!
Bionicle 2015. Biggest plot twist ever.
1:35 I know the phrase is 'pop their clogs' you missed a golden opportunity to make a 'pop their cogs' pun
How the red star could resurrect any dead body surprised me.
R.I.P in piece Matoro.
Is there somewhere that I can read the comics?

Plot twist! Viper makes a video! Lol nice Job
Good to see new young fans into bionicle.👍😁
They were Toa Mata actually. Only after falling into protodermis did they become Toa Nuva.
what about learning makuta's name is teridax and that makuta is the species?
I thought the Red Star corrupted those that came in into monsters?
Apparently, Luke REALLY wanted the world to know that he did not have one of those experiences.
VIPER!!!!!!!!!!!! 2VIPER4ME OH GOD VIPER HAS MADE A VIDEO! PARTY!!!!!! CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES COME ON!
Awesome video
lol the to-er of light, like pepper pig
This is official... I should read a bionicle comic book...
This is official their awesome
When you realize that bionicle had a big plot
Yeah, I haven't really noticed that until it's cancellation. I was like "What? Bionicle got cancelled because of too convoluted and too big plot? Yeah, right... This plot is pretty simple..."
Then I took a breathe and realized how big of a nerd I am and that I spent probably too much time on Bionicle Wiki.
For me, the biggest plot twist was that "The Makuta" wasn't a being, but a species. That "Makuta" was actually called Teridax and he was not Mata Nui's brother.
Then who's the other giant robot?
Can I know what the song(tune) is called?
ty~~
Surprised Matoro's death wasn't its own point...
