  • How to Spray Bleach Sublimation T Shirts is a super fun side hustle if you are wanting to start up a small biz this year. I love the Gildan Softstyle shirts for Sublimation and bleaching on a T shirt. I use the Spray bleaching technique / method. I feel that spray bleaching a shirt allows you more control of the bleach and how you create your designs on the shirts. I got my spray bottles from Walmart. This is a fun DIY tutorial of how to bleach shirts and sublimate on them using a heat press. I love my Heat Press Nation Craft Pro 15 x 15 heat press. I also use my Epson sublimation printer 2720 series to print out all my JDC sublimation transfer sheets using Lucky sublimation ink.
    I answer questions like “What is the best order to bleach and sublimate on a t shirt?” It isn’t wrong either way, but I do show you both methods and what I prefer. I felt that bleaching a shirt first was fine but once you go to sublimate on it, the heat from your heat press will leave a brown or burnt mark where the bleach is. Not a big deal as it washes out with having to wash it for a second time. However, with Sublimating first and then bleaching. You Wash it once after bleaching and done. It is ready to sublimate on and ship out to your customers.
    I also test out if a black hoodie can be bleached on. Of course you do need to have a cotton blend of some sort as we learn in this video that the non-cotton materials do not take bleach. So, be mindful when you are ordering your materials. It is best to stick with Glidan T Shirts and Hoodies. However, I did get this black hoodie from Walmart from the brand Athletic Works.
    Please note that a Sublimation printer must only use sublimation ink. My epson eco tank 2720 came with traditional ink and I DID NOT put it into my ink tanks. I bought special sub ink from the brand Lucky. Check out all the links below to the items and products I used in this Bleaching Sublimation t-shirt tutorial.
    I also show you that you do not need to use CRICUT design space to printer your pngs or images. This will allow you to use your 8 x 11 sublimation sheets to their fullest extent. I also use my Urboni T shirt ruler to help me center and place my designs. I go 2 inches below the collar and place my images in landscape across my t Shirt between the 5 1/2 in marks on Both the left and right sides. This has worked beautifully for me using the 8x11 transfer sheets. If you are using a larger printer with 11 x 17 inch sheets your numbers will be slightly different. Also, be sure to place a piece of card stock inside your garments to keep from the sublimation ink bleeding through and use your JDC heat tape to keep it secure and from moving which can cause possible ghosting of your image. Wear gloves and respirator around the bleach as an extra precaution.
    If you have any questions or tips you have learned along the way in your bleaching and sublimation processes, please feel free to share your knowledge :)
    Have fun my sweet friends ! Please give this video a thumbs up and let me know in the comments your favorite shirt :)

    I own a contract apparel decoration business. I have never understood the financial strategy behind any of these crafting decoration techniques. These videos show shirt, bleach, cornstarch or flour, peroxide, processing, rinsing, washing, drying, printing, paper, inks, pressing and so forth. All of this for one or a few shirts. Based on most videos there seems to be approx. $7-$9 in supplies and cost of consumables including a t-shirt. The power consumption and wear and tear of a heat press and a clothes dryer could easily add a couple of dollars. Then there is the question of time. By my estimates it takes around two hours to make a shirt or even a few shirts. What is your time worth? Working from home you could say your time is worth $8 and hour. In this economic climate of entitlement it would be more like $15. If you put that through a business model, it takes approx. $39 just to produce a shirt. People on Etsy sell these for $16-$17. These videos are no more than a person who has a stable provider, doing a hobby that is being financed by the provider and producing shirts at no out of pocket expense and thinking they are making money when they sell them. In fact they are losing approx. $22 on every item.

    Did you have any problems with holes after bleaching? I’ve read some people use hydrogen peroxide too. Is that needed? Thank you for your video!

    • @SolHarmonyHolistics
      @SolHarmonyHolistics  2 роки тому

      Hi Mandy. I think the bleach being on to long and also the type of material can be delicate to a long period of bleach siting on it causing holes or thinning. The longer the bleach sits it eats the material. I didn’t use hydrogen peroxide but you can. Some state it stops the bleaching process but hydrogen per. Needs to be washed off quickly as well. Have a wonderful day my sweet friend!!

    Love them!! Do you find that the main bleach areas(design area) come out thin after bleaching? I've been using gildan softstyle 65/35. I feel like that area is kind of see-through. I leave my bleach for about 20 mintues; I live in the desert so it doesn't take long in the sun. I sometimes spray the burned area with peroxide..so maybe that's making it more thin?

    • @SolHarmonyHolistics
      @SolHarmonyHolistics  2 роки тому +2

      Hey Donna 🥰ya know I didn’t notice them to thin. As I had red on under lol 🤣 but I think the extra peroxide is a material eater and can cause thinning . I skipped this step and went straight to washing :). As for me I live in the desert area too so the sun is a helpful tool in this process. Maybe try not spraying and see if you notice a difference 🥰. Keep me posted and thank you for watching 😊

      Hello Georgia!! That’s something I’ll have to look into. I haven’t had any faded sublimation if I press at 400 degrees for 1 min. Now using your transfer printed image sheet more than once will give you a major faded look so I use each printed image once. :)
