Do glad I saw this. I've watched a lot of videos from various folks doing this technique, but have never seen the cornstarch, & have never seen anyone sublimate first & then bleach. I totally would have thought it would bleach out the sublimation. I'm a purple person & it's definitely not a good color for sublimation so bleaching is a must. Thanks for all your fun videos & excellent teaching skills.
The link in your shopping list for this project are now all 100% cotton. I'm glad I noticed that before purchasing. Thanks a lot Amazon! Thank you Jennifer for all you do! You are my Guru for crafting!!
Hello Jennifer! Bummed I missed the Premiere, always love chatting with you and everyone. Thank you for making this Tutorial and for all the great tips. Happy Crafting!🤗
Great video Jennifer. I do not have a sublimation printer. I do have a laser white printer or I use HTV. Can the bleach be added to the outside of those images on the shirt? Or should I bleach the area where the design will be first and then add the design? Have you bleached a black shirt? Thanks for all of your great videos!!
Love the shirts, especially the green one- bleached after subbing. Been wanting to try bleaching, but haven't tried it yet. You make it seem so easy, and I love your cookbook.
Jennifer, I love your videos. I’m not into sublimation yet, but was given infusible markers. Will it work the same way with bleaching? Also, can I bleach a shirt after putting htv v vinyl on it? thank you for your expert advise
Yes it will. Infusible Ink markers is sublimation but you need to draw on laser paper. jennifermaker.com/infusible-ink-pen-projects/ I would bleach the shirt before you put htv on it but you could bleach around the htv.
They are a polyester/cotton blend. If you go to the product link, it may say 100% cotton. But the Gildan HEATHER shirts (and only the Heather shirts) are a poly/cotton blend. Be sure you try this only with the Heather shirts!
Hi Jeniffer! Question: after sublimating the shirt, right away can we do the bleaching the designs or how long to to wait before bleaching it? Thank you
OMG Jennifer! You cease to amaze me with all your ideas! I love the sublimated bleaching effect on the green t-shirt! My husband is going to die when he sees more boxes coming from Amazon, because now I have to order some t-shirts and the peroxide and probably bleach as I don't have any! Thank you so much for all you do! I think I've bought all your teaching videos except for the font one! Have a blessed Mother's Day! One teensy question for you. How long do you wait to bleach the shirt after you've sublimated it?
Yes. I found it easiest to use a sheet of foam board inside the shirt, but you can use an extra cardboard box cut to size or even a garbage bag. The goal is to keep the bleach off the back of the T-shirt and to ensure the bleaching is centered.
If you have a top loading washing machine could you fill the tub up with water, put your shirt in it to stop the bleaching and then washing it all in one step? Or do you need to use separate water?
Hello Jennifer, can i do this method with Infusible Ink transfer sheets or the pens. I don’t have a sublimation printer yet. Thank you and Happy Mothers Day
Submerge your shirt in the 10:1 water/hydrogen peroxide solution to stop the bleaching process. Alternatively, you can immediately wash your shirt ALONE in the washing machine to stop the bleaching process. jennifermaker.com/bleaching-shirts-for-sublimation/
Those look like fun! I'll wear grubbies so as not to bleach what I'm wearing too - because knowing me, that will happen, regardless of any precautions taken :)
How do you get every color of shirt to bleach white??? I left an ash navy blue shirt with bleach for almost 27 minutes and it is still a peachy/orange color. Is this going to happen to every color in some variation of color?
That is a good question. I suppose if the shirt is the same color. It is only 1 part hydrogen peroxide to 10 parts water. jennifermaker.com/bleaching-shirts-for-sublimation/
I would like to make quilt labels using sublimation. Quilting fabric is cotton, does anyone know if there is a treatment we can use on cotton in order for the sublimation to work. Tank you in advance.

Thank you for another great video. Can you use infusible ink on the bleach area on t-shirts that are 100% cotton? Or does it still have to be more polyester type shirt?
Maybe I missed it, but why doesn't the bleach affect the sublimation if you apply it on top.... this process seems awesome for what I want to do, but I am shocked that it does affect the black sublimation!
You are correct, and I apologize that this escaped our notice. I am removing all references to using a heat gun in this video. I don't have a sublimation printer. Can I use my laser printer and follow the same steps? I love your videos and your teaching!! Thanks
You would need a sublimation printer for this project 😊
These are beautiful

Wow! This looks very fun! Can this process be done using the DTF method or would that be a 'NO-Go'? Thanks.

Thos is so awesome! I'm going to really try this!!!
I hope you do!🥰

Such a cute project. I like putting the Clorox on the momlife one. That’s my favorite. 😊Mercy
I love it too!🥰
Love this!!! Does this work with sweatshirts? If so, what fabric would you recommend?
It's probably possible. I would search for the same blend as these shirts!🥰
What blend r these shirts
Thanks for the info
You are welcome🥰
How much peroxide and water do you use in the bucket?
You need a 10:1 ratio of cool water and hydrogen peroxide. 😊🌻
Hello Jennifer maker, is there away you can make a book how to fix messed up of different things with sublimation.. shirts, tumbler exc?
You can request that. jennifermaker.com/projectrequests/
Hi Jennifer, is the shirts that you used the sublimation printout on, were they cotton or polyester? Please advise.
They are a polyester/cotton blend. If you go to the product link, it may say 100% cotton. But the Gildan HEATHER shirts (and only the Heather shirts) are a poly/cotton blend. Be sure you try this only with the Heather shirts!
Wow they came out lovely 😻 only the heather shirt can be bleached right?
Hey Jennifer - quick question, can you do custom image engravings with a cricut? Or only their pre installed images? Thank you
So its 10 parts H2O and 1 part hydrogen peroxide? What does the peroxide do? Instead of all water? Thanks! These look amazing!
The peroxide stops the bleaching process.
@Jennifer Maker OK Thankyou!
Hi Jeniffer! Question: after sublimating the shirt, right away can we do the bleaching the designs or how long to to wait before bleaching it? Thank you
After the sublimation completely cools.
OMG Jennifer! You cease to amaze me with all your ideas! I love the sublimated bleaching effect on the green t-shirt! How long do you wait to bleach the shirt after you've sublimated it?
Thank you Happy Mother's Day! I would say anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour on average.
Be right back----going to buy some supplies! Fun!!!!
Yay! 😃
Does the bleaching not also bleach the print ?
No, it doesn't have much effect 😊🌻
do you only use the foam piece once? Or can you use it multiple times?
Yes. I found it easiest to use a sheet of foam board inside the shirt, but you can use an extra cardboard box cut to size or even a garbage bag. The goal is to keep the bleach off the back of the T-shirt and to ensure the bleaching is centered.
Thanks!! But is it a one time use only or can you use multiple times?
Great info
I'm glad you found it helpful🥰
amazing
🥰
If you have a top loading washing machine could you fill the tub up with water, put your shirt in it to stop the bleaching and then washing it all in one step? Or do you need to use separate water?
Maybe? The water is to stop the bleaching process.
Hi!!! So I don’t do sublimation yet and want to do this affect with HTV. Can I HTV then bleach? I’m guessing no. Or do I have to bleach them HTV
Yes! Here is a tutorial. jennifermaker.com/bleach-stencil-shirt/
That's fantastic. But I do wonder, does it weaken the fibers of the shirt?
If you didn't neutralize the bleach then yes it could definitely weaken the fibers🥰
Hello Jennifer, can i do this method with Infusible Ink transfer sheets or the pens. I don’t have a sublimation printer yet.
Thank you and Happy Mothers Day
Yes! Infusible ink is sublimation.
@@JenniferMaker Thanks for responding back to me
I must have missed something, the linked t-shirts all seem to be 100% cotton. You can still sublimate on them?
I think you want to get the heathered colored shirts , as the description says the heathered colored ones are 65 poly,35 cotton.
@@bethugolini7898, thanks! I knew I must have missed something!
@@tkagain1 your welcome not sure if I am right on that, but that’s what I am going to try 😊
Yes, that is correct. There are affiliate links in the materials lists here. jennifermaker.com/bleaching-shirts-for-sublimation/
What is the mixture for stopping the bleach process??
Submerge your shirt in the 10:1 water/hydrogen peroxide solution to stop the bleaching process. Alternatively, you can immediately wash your shirt ALONE in the washing machine to stop the bleaching process. jennifermaker.com/bleaching-shirts-for-sublimation/
Those look like fun! I'll wear grubbies so as not to bleach what I'm wearing too - because knowing me, that will happen, regardless of any precautions taken :)
I know what you mean! 😁
How do you get every color of shirt to bleach white??? I left an ash navy blue shirt with bleach for almost 27 minutes and it is still a peachy/orange color. Is this going to happen to every color in some variation of color?
It may need to sit longer but it could possibly be the shirt 🥰
Were these shirts cotton.
They are the 65 poly shirts. jennifermaker.com/bleaching-shirts-for-sublimation/
Wait, are you wearing two different colors shoes? ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yes, but they really are a pair. 😊❤️
@@JenniferMaker So you. 🥰
Can you us this technique with Infusible ink also?
Yes, infusible ink is sublimation.
After more than a hour, the bleached part of my shirt remained orange, is it beaucause of the fabric i took? 50/50 poly/cotton dark gray.
Thanks.
You may need to allow it some extra time in the sun. 😊🌻
Usually when sublimating on 65 % poly the design is more muted...will the bleach afterwards make it more vibrate?
It may give it the illusion that it is brighter with the bleaching.
Can you reuse the peroxide after using it on a shirt
That is a good question. I suppose if the shirt is the same color. It is only 1 part hydrogen peroxide to 10 parts water. jennifermaker.com/bleaching-shirts-for-sublimation/
@@JenniferMaker At 15:45 you say to have your 50/50 hydrogen peroxide solution ready. Is the correct ratio 1 part peroxide to 10 parts water? Thanks
When I didn't dilute the bleach my shirts tore where the bleach was. Any idea what I may have done wrong? Thanks,
Sounds like the bleach ate right through the shirt.
I would like to make quilt labels using sublimation. Quilting fabric is cotton, does anyone know if there is a treatment we can use on cotton in order for the sublimation to work. Tank you in advance.
Here is a tutorial. jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-on-cotton/
What was in the bucket, just water?
It's a 1:10 mixture of hydrogen peroxide to water. 💚
When brushing bleach on after sub, some bleach stays on a lotlonger. Is this OK?
It depends on how much you want it to bleach out. You can stop the process by emerging the shirt in the peroxide solution.
