Hi Melvin, greetings from a subscriber to your channel. You may not be the fittest rider but your bubbly spirit in group rides really shines ! Enjoyed your vlogs and your honest opinions on the products and cycling topics that you feature in your channel. Keep it up ! Oompa, again this is another great interview. By featuring this niche branded bike (not many people ride storck bikes in Singapore ) you add diversity to people's choices when they want to purchase an expensive bike (still lots more brands to be feature). Hope more cyclist with other brands of bike would appear on your channel. 👍
@@jaswolf1970 and to you too brother...and since we are at it Happy Hari Raya, Gawai, Deepavalli and Chirstmas and whatever you are celebrating this year...oh Happy Birthday incase I forget... LOL
Love the sensible gearing. You see way too many cyclist undergeared and unable to go anywhere they want. Ive recently changed my gearing on my bike from 52/36 11-30 to 46/30 11-40. Now it doesnt matter if I’m on the flat or going up mountains. I always have the right gearing for me. Bottom line, if you’re not pro, use gears that actually make sense for the type of riding you do.
I agree. Currently riding with 46/30 crankset with 11-32 cassette. I find I actually use the 12-13-14t cogs more often than when I was riding 50/34 cranks. No one rides below 15t cog 80% of any ride as an amateur or beginner. When I get stronger and able to maintain cadence on 13 or 14t I will jump to 50t. Last week I rode in headwinds of over 20mph with incline of 7%. If I did not have 46/30 I would have struggled a lot more or even just cut my ride short.
I’ve used conventional lube, immersion wax, Squirt, and now Bike Mechanic, Bike Mix. Immersion wax can’t be beaten fir cleanliness, and reduced friction, but not always practical. The Bike Mix gives all the advantages of immersion, but the ease of a drip application. Chain is sparkling clean, and good in the wet too! Melvin is a cool cat! Beautiful bike, with thought out touches. Love the pussy gearing! In run 50/34 and 11-32, as he says, you run your gearing to suit your riding!
Curious bout the gearing combination mentioned. The crankset and chainring shows 44/33 on it when zoomed in, doesn’t look like a 50T for sure. I assume the cassette is the SRAM Red 10-33/36T. Instead of traditional 11T which helps to achieve a high gear close to a 50/11 combination.
Melvin you should start a membership on UA-cam too like Oompa. U hv 1 member in waiting already here. Bet there are alot more who are keen to join as well. Oompa faster do a quick video to show him how to set it up.

Being a fan of both Oompa Loompa And Melvin TAN (Especially Melvin Tan since I've known him first). The OSPW thing i agree with both sides! Dosent make sense to spend SGD$ 150-300 for 5Watts. Also makes my bike in sg look weird bc everyone is using OSPW
LOL ok la if got money and wanna be showeeeyyy ... LOL but i would put SGD300 on a damn good pair of cycling shoes and helmet.... LOL those have immediate impact to the cycling. LOL I am a big fan of you too bro!!! cuz u so awesome!

Good call on the "core" range of any cycling apparel company. It is not lower end stuff. It costs less because whatever technology or manufacturing techniques they experimented upon with the higher end stuff like "pro" or "sport" etc trickled down to the core range. So core apparel products are tested stuff. So for any newbie who want to buy cycling apparel, go for the core products first.

A aero bike from a a company who does not do wind tunnel experiment ? Why? For these of who want to get more aero, drop your handlebar 10mm this can offset any potential so called aero benefits from any brand bikes.
