- Richard Pryor telling the truth about how our people did not identify as being "Black". In the beginning they let you know that they knew the truth but later stray away to please the industry in order to make a dollar. It was a time when the younger generation was waking up before being put back to sleep through economic and social oppression.

"he's over-rated". what they don't realize is, every family had at least one person imitate mr. pryors comedy - we all heard it over again our entire lives. he's the voice of generations - taught many how to express themselves. he's part of culture - he's legendary.

When I listen to Richard, it's like I am there at that SPECIFIC MOMENT AND TIME of the events he's expressing! Also, PRYOR'S comedy was the essence of Black life in the late 60s and 70s! Every Black person could RELATE to what Pryor was saying. It resonates to this day!

He turned his pain into laughter for everyone else. It was not just his comedy, but he went into the mind and thoughts of other people and reflected them back to themselves. He was so observant about the little details of society, people and how so many people put on a front but they are so corrupt that it's ridiculous. He was so badly abused that he had to use comedy to try and ease his own internal suffering and in the process brought laughter and healing to all of his fans. RIP Rich thank you for the laughs, you made life a bit easier for millions of people with your movies and your comedy.

When I was pre-teens, I loved when my mom would go out with her friends. I would sneak and play her mass collection of Richard Pryor and Fred Foxx albums. Both were comedian legends. Rip🙏🏾🙏🏾

Me too I had HBO and Cinemax from real early on in my childhood
Met him at an MS/ALS benefit. He had this same energy even at his worst physical condition. I was 14 years old and I couldn't breathe from laughing while he and my mother shared their fight with the disease and the BS that bothered them.

I just saw Damon Wayans’ whole suitcase full of humor in this Pryor piece. Richard was one of the geniuses from whom mostly all black comedy acts descend including Eddie Murphy who called Pryor a comedy father

Always loved Richard Prior, I didn’t realize how much truth was in his comedy as a kid. As an adult, I have come to have a whole different respect for his genius!

Greatest comedian of all time! No one comes close, not even Eddie Murphy and I love Eddie Murphy. No one could tell a story like Richard. Richard pryer was to comedy like Muhammad Ali was to boxing. He was a real comedian, very funny, full of charisma and charm. Richard could make u believe he was that character everyone, such as when he did mud bone the old wino, you could see him become that character, that was his baby. My favorite RP movie is "Which way Is Up". He did three different characters in that movie. He did numerous characters in a movie way before Eddie Murphy thought of it. The comedians they got now are not funny they just act stupid. There's a difference. Funny is Genius and stupid is just plain stupid. LOL
The new Comedians try to be funny which ironically makes them less funny and mostly annoying. Dave Chappell, Bill Bur, Colin etc they aren’t trying to be funny it just naturally flows.

Charlie Murphy was a great story teller RIP. But Richard made you feel like the character was standing right in front of you. He was the first to play multiple characters in a movie and Eddie Murphy followed suit. NOBODY i mean NOBODY comes close to Mr. Pryor.

Whenever time goes by and then I go back to Pryor, I'm reminded of how talented he was. It was edgy, but his delivery was great.
Chappelle is the best at current topics and the hypocrisy of America thru comedy but Pryor was and is the best at playing characters and speaking for the streets.
