It’s midnight on August 17, 1919, offshore on the Gulf of Finland.
The silence of the sea is broken by the rumble of speedboats racing across the water, their bows bouncing on the calm waves. On their stern, they carry 18 inch torpedoes.
Their mission is simple and daring. Attack a heavily armed Russian port.
They are to use the speedboat’s small size to sail over Russian minefields and attack the Russian Baltic fleet docked at the port of Kronstadt. Small motorboats versus a heavily armed base.
The British are trying to prevent Bolshevik forces from using their fleet against the Estonians who are fighting a desperate war for independence.
It's an incredible story of bravery and daring. A David and Goliath encounter of small motorboats against the might of a Russian stronghold.

G'day Yarnhub, I gotta say the animation quality just keeps getting better as the up close facial shots and lim moving is masterful, although knowing the type destroyer used the turret traverse rates were a bit fast on the Pattern 1911 102 mm mounts and the Pom-Pom mounts fired at LMG rates except in the slowed down action.
Yet an overall good animation of a somewhat forgotten raid in an often forgotten part of the russian civil war.
Hmm in your preview earlier this week many guessed the Zeebrugge raid an I was certainly wondering would your team ever cover that glorious raid one day as well? (reading into it was always crazy with the brits using fireships to block the port entry and they stuck flamethrowers to the ships as well like HMS Vindictive 1897).

2 months prior to this attack, a SINGLE British "coastal motor boat" (CMB 4) penetrated Kronstadt harbour to attack the Russian fleet there. As it slid past the destroyer screen protecting the harbour, its engine broke down and it had to tie up alongside the harbour breakwater in darkness for 20 minutes while the engine was repaired. Once sorted it then sped into the harbour and at a 6000 ton Russian cruiser (the "Oleg") which it sank with a single torpedo before speeding out of the harbour under very heavy fire. The same boat was used during the attack detailed in this video to guide the other 3 coastal boats into the harbour and lead them back out again after the attack.
The boat's commander was Capt Augustus Agar. He received the Victoria Cross for his actions, and later during WW2 he commanded , amongst others vessels, the RN heavy cruiser HMS Dorsetshire which my father served onboard.
