    Hunkered at a crossroads outside the central Lithuanian town of Raseiniai, what is thought to be a KV-1 from the 3rd Company of the 2nd Tank Division made history. A brave defense against the German juggernaut that was pushing eastward.

      @Yarnhub some people suggested a gaming channel. I think it would be cool, you could do historical reenactments or just play some games for fun, maybe play building games, like Trailmakers or Scrap Mechanic, and try to make historical planes and tanks and warships etc. you could do team dogfights, or naval battles. up to you tho.

      @@Lehr-km5be how exactly?

    • @Lehr-km5be
      @Lehr-km5be 3 роки тому +3

      @@scorpiontdalpha9799 Well, the russian 2nd tank division was sent to stop the german 6th Panzer Division - it had a force of KV-1 and KV-2s (numbered in 51 or 57, various sources vary between those two numbers). It was also the first time the germans ever met KV tanks. However, very poor command and control meant that KV tanks were used poorly, most of them blindly charged the german positions and either got overwhelmed and destroyed through various means or got stuck/run out of fuel which resulted in their crews abandoning them.
      Apart from the heroic defense of the KV-1 in the video and the famous lone KV-2 tank, the soviets were absolutely decimated by the germans - the russians lost between 2-3k men and 250 taken prisoner, and the whole 2nd tank division was left with just 10 tanks out of almost 200 available before - around 30% of them were left in the field due to running out of fuel. Germans meanwhile lost 185men and around 10 tanks, but also losing several dozens of tanks and a dozen of AT-guns. Overall in the whole bigger battle with german 4th panzer army fighting against 3rd and 12th mechanized corpses, the russians lost over 700 tanks (with around 100 of them being of KV series) and most of their motor vehicles. Unfortunately I was never able to found any german documents about a specific amount of tanks and men lost, but those were classed as "light" - which would make sense looking at the sole battle of Raseiniai itself.
      As we can clearly see, even though that first meeting with KV tanks was a shock for the germans and they definitely had a hard time cracking a few of them (and those few crews behaved heroically and deserve recognition) in the bigger picture the battle was an utter disaster for the russians. There were 3 main reasons for their big loss : poor command and control, supply problems (soviets were lacking trucks and as such fuel shortages were really severe as the tanks had to cover a lot of ground to arrive to a battlefield) and german air superiority meant that their close air support could bomb with impunity.

    One day, we might couldn't tell the differences between the animation of Yarnhub and the one from World of Tanks.
    The KV-1 firing scenes are satisfyingly awesome. From the ignited shells to the impact on their targets, everything's perfect. But the bumping shell scene, we didn't ready for that. It worked like a cherry on the top of a cake. A small, enough addition of dramatization to enhance their whole badassery.

    Finally , This story will get shown. I am from Lithuania myself and Ive been to the location of the fight. Sadly this story is not taught in our schools. because the Soviets are looked at something "worse then Nazis" , some go as far to say that Lithuania was far better off with the Nazis. Which just disgusts me.

      @@gnas1897 Exactly. There was alot of bad things in the USSR, like you said it was no paradise , but when they compare it to the Nazis , say shit like "But the Molotov ribetrop pact! Thats the Soviets being friendly with nazis! Ooo!" , people dont realise what was behind those pacts.
      Maybe the Soviets had Gulags. But most of the people there WERE criminals , ofcourse you had people who were sent there for no reasson...But on the other side you have Nazis who just simply put a entie village into a barn and burn it down.
      How they burnt down all of Ukraine when they retreated from Russia? The Holocaust? "Final Solution"? Plan "ost" which pretty much can be summed up to 70% of Russians Lithuanians and others being killed off and the rest turned into slaves. Yeah , the Nazis were a MUCH better pick , surely....They never teach us about anything in school. They just say that both sides were bad. And that they were the same. Thankfully I had a History teacher who wasnt biased and tought us the way it was supposed to. Explained the why's behind countries actions and so on. Much respect to her.

      Based on current government propaganda Czech Republic was NOT liberated by Red Army, but conquered. IN a few year I am sure that we will be taught that actually it was nice Germans protecting us against Red Army.
      Also interesting is that is every year celebration in Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia as well as Ukraine of their "Waffen SS". I read that these local Waffen SS were so brutal, that the "normal" SS felt sick watching those. And UE pretends that the celebration of SS does not exist.
