Such a beautiful card. My daughter has crippling anxiety and depression. Some days she can’t go outside, not even the back porch. I didn’t recognize the signs when she was young-my bad-but since she was in her 20s I have provided the resources for counseling, psych care, medication. She is almost 32 and I am so thankful she is still on this earth. To all who have similar struggles, I pray for you, your good health, your healing. Sending hugs and good thoughts.
The card is just beautiful. You really know how to make the magic of coloring look so easy. I pray your trips will go well and you have lots of fun to make up for the misery of driving.
I love the little bushes in the background! I am going to try this, it makes quite a difference. Love the card. Thank you for sharing your love of card making. Especially the coloring. I’ve learned so much from you! Keep them coming along with your stories.
All of your cards are exceptional! Love all the extras. I to suffer from driving anxiety. This started about 2 years ago. Thank you and God will be with you and help you. Just trust him. 🤗 And prayers 🙏🏻. You got this! ❤
Your coloring is so beautiful. I have a friend who is 80 and she's driven for years. Now for a year she won't drive away from her home. I didn't realize other people had the same problem. I am 79 and drive all over but expressways are nuts, People go 90 MPH whizzing around the lanes so I'm not nuts about driving them. Take care Kelly
You are the best colorist enjoy your teaching and your stories I can relate to the anxiety you feel driving on the highway or the freeway I usually take the surface streets rather than the freeway living in California. We have an abundance of freeways.
I had a client when I was a full time stylist, who was eccentric and a touch neurotic, but a fantastic person. He was terrified of bridges and overpasses. He would literally drive miles out of his way to avoid these. Just before I retired, he had started a different anti anxiety med that helped him. He was finally able to drive to where I worked without going out of his way. He was still shaky when he got to my salon, but he made it over the flyover! There is a decent anxiety med that's non addicting, non drowsy, and can be taken as needed.
Fabulous coloring - as always, Kelly! I appreciate the tips and tricks you share. I am so sorry for your anxiety and will be praying that you are able to overcome it. We've recently been reading a book about the promises and protections in Psalm 91. Praying for you!
Kelly I find audio books help me move my focus and helps calm my brain ....or at least give it a diversion. I try to listen to something not suspenseful of course. Thank you for sharing your amazing coloring skilks!
Hi Kelly, I am in my 70's now, and had my first attack after an issue ( I was in my 50's) with my blood pressure bouncing on and off the scale (which ended me in the hospital). And when I tried to get back with driving, I would literally pass out at the wheel. This is the woman that use to drive across country to visit various family members by herself and now I can barely make it to my corner grocery store. A trip to the store for a jug of milk would take me 2 or 3 hours (which the store is less than 6 blocks). Finally I just gave up and I pray that my husband (80's) will still be around for me! Just talking about it makes my blood pressure bounce. Whew! The doctors have tried me on low dosage of Prozac (but does not work for me). I keep hoping that one day they will come out with a magic pill that will instantly take away our anxieties and not leave us as a zombie. Now to more important things I love the stamps and love how your colors just seem to melt on the page. You are my favorite colorists and I hope one day to grow up to be as good as you! LOL. Take care, Carol-Lynn
I’m so sorry you have such a hard time with driving and anxiety. It takes a lot of work, praying for you. That’s why we do cards! Our therapy! Is for me anyway. Your card is gorgeous!🙋🏻♀️🌹
Gorgeous card as always! I too suffer from driving anxiety. I had my very first panic attack about 25 years ago while driving on a bridge with my two young daughters screaming in the backseat about a big spider on the window. I initially pushed through and forced myself to keep driving over that bridge, but I eventually started to get anxiety about the possibility of having a panic attack and stopped driving over big bridges. I know - it’s dumb. I did the visualization thing with my therapist and drove over the bridge twice. Third time, had another panic attack. And I just gave up. I hate that it limits what I do on my own, but I’m ok with that for now. I love that you are not letting it make your world smaller and that you are pushing through. I know you can do it and will be fine. And I know that one day I will push myself as well.
Your colouring just blows me away Kelly. The clarity and generosity with which your share your expertise is commendable. I have developed social anxiety and anxiety when 'passengering' in the car (I don't drive anymore). Yes, anxiety stinks big time but sharing and showing support and understanding as you have done helps. On a lighter note, colouring like a "regular fairy" made me laugh🤣
What a beautiful card. I love how soft the pencil highlights are, i like the gel pen ones and have always used them but its stunning the difference with the pencil. Thanks so much for sharing these tips. hoping your trips all go well and you can overcome your anxiety enough to help you drive. Remember you have been driving for years and all the bad scary things you envision happening have never happened, because you are a good driver! Sending thoughts n prayers
I have been told that for women (of course! We get all the crap!), anxiety shows up as we get older. I know that for me and a friend, ours started in our 40s. We have anxiety when presented with new challenges, say, going on a trip, or a big change such as, for me, finishing my basement. I can't handle that and really freak out. Driving, however, I love so no problems there. It's really just trying to understand that your mind is playing tricks on you and pushing through it. But it's so hard! Love your card and I hope you can over come the anxiety. I'm still working on mine.
OMG, this card is PHENOMENAL! I love everything about it! As someone who suffers from high anxiety and panic attacks, I pray that it gets better for you. I certainly can relate to how debilitating it can be. I repeat Timothy 1:7 a lot when my anxiety is high and it really does help 😉.
Kelly you do AMAZING work!!! I also have anxiety with driving on highways from seeing an accident when I was 16. I didn’t start driving til I was in my 40’s when I got divorced. I’m now 67 and have accepted that I won’t drive on a highway and yes it stinks sometimes that I can’t do things that I wish I could, but I’ve accepted it. It’s not worth the stress that it gives me. Kudos to you!!! You’ve got determination, something I don’t have.😊
Thank you Kelly for talking about white highlights (this is something I struggle with). I think sometimes the pen gets to where it does not want to come out smoothly. I usually test it. but as soon as I put it on my card it does not want to work. I have anxiety and have panic attacks. I know they are hard to deal with.I do have to take a medicine for it which I don't like but it helps. I know its hard facing the fear of driving and I feel your pain. Your card is so cute and I love watching you color.
🤗🤗 Sending hugs & lots of respect for you sharing your struggles with anxiety. Mom’s menopause is causing her anxiety that causes extreme insomnia and it’s been terrible for her with sleepless nights which increases anxiety.
Driving anxiety is super logical to me. If you've been driving for more than five years you know how quickly things can go wrong. So, you have anxiety about it of course. The fact that you face it and push through it anyway is the real adulting. My driving anxiety is night driving. I avoid it like the plague.
I love you scenes and your florals...in this card I got both!! A beautiful card! I like the shrubs! I feel for you and your driving anxiety, there is almost nothing worse.
Kelly I am sorry driving the freeway/highway stresses you so much. I drive 45-60 every day to work on the freeway. I also live in Ohio approximately an hour ish from you. If I am guessing correctly where you live, I would so come and get you and take you to Columbus if I could. However, I commend your determination to get over your anxiety. YOU GOT THIS!
I understand your driving anxiety - it kept me from learning to drive until I was 35 - I was getting a divorce and needed to get a job... It was horrifying but I worked thru it a step at a time in part to show my children how to overcome fear.
AMAZING!!! Love everything about this card! Thanks for the highlighting tips. I play Christian music when I drive and I don't do much of that anymore! But it may get you to sing along and get your mind on something else besides your fear of driving.
Thank you for teaching us about using the white pencil!!! I rarely pull out my colored pencils. But, I really like the look. Regarding your driving anxiety… I commend your choice of researching and attempting to improve your ability. I think most people would just not drive - requiring others to do it for them. I do have some anxiety, although not with driving… it greatly affects my sleep. I feel like your plan to gradually increase your time on the highway is a good one. 😁
Such a cute card! :) Yeah, anxiety really stinks! :( You are strong for getting out there even if you know that your anxiety flares up! We need to finds ways to live our lives with anxiety as a "companion" on the way! I repeat a mantra to calm me...
Adorable card, love the entire scene. I totally get the anxiety issues, mine is not letting others drive and I have so much anxiety flying, and recently had to fly and it was a massive anxiety inducing event that I would have rather driven the 1600 miles needed if it wasn’t for it being a time sensitive issue…. But I get the push through it idea and have always been told that the worry I create in my head is 99.9% worse then it will ever really be, so self talk through it all is vital. Wishing you the best as it sucks when it interferes with quality of life
Beautiful card Kelly. I too have driving anxiety. My husband used to do the driving but now that he has taken ill, I have to do it. I do okay until I have to get to a busier town with a 5 lane highway. Then I get so nervous. It doesn't help that hubby is a back seat driver. Many a day I have to psych myself up to get through it. I'm making great progress though. The more I drive the better I am dealing with it. Good luck with it. You'll be just fine. ❤
I know you are laughing about your anxiety, but, I know this is no laughing matter. I feel for you. My sister has driving anxiety. It’s a real thing, she can’t help it. My mom (who is no longer alive) used to get so upset with her, and I would always tell he that she couldn’t help it. Then, she was in a head on car crash years ago on her birthday. She was not driving she was the passenger. She broke her neck and back, and suffice it to say, that made her anxiety way worse. ❤️
For a year I had anxiety in the car. It didn’t matter who drove. It was horrible in the beginning and especially when I was far from home. All I kept thinking was I didn’t know where the hospitals were or that I didn’t know anyone who worked in them. The strange part was I always drove everywhere. I drove to Florida from Buffalo a couple times a year. Drove from Buffalo to Cleveland all the time. Then bam couldn’t do it. I’m over it now but it was bad for that year I had trouble. I do have bad anxiety and panic attacks but am grateful the car anxiety is over with. I wish I could offer some words of wisdom but it just kinda went away. I forced myself to do the driving and be a passenger so that may have helped. I hope you do well and enjoy yourself.
You must live somewhere in the SE. My husband warned me before we moved to Florida, that people were crazy drivers. Nothing could have prepared me for how bad. I had to force myself to drive on the freeways there because I lived in WPB but had majority of my doctors in a different county. We only lived there for two years, we’ve been back in our hometown now for over six years (in the PNW) and there are still some times where I get freaked out about driving by just remembering what it was like to drive in Florida. Hugs
I have that response to attending wakes and funerals, which started after my mother passed away. I just cannot go. I start panicking and getting really upset and anxious until i decide im not going, then i relax. This upsets other people, but i just cant do it. I didnt know about avoidance and reinforcement, which im sure is happening. Ugh. Thx for sharing. ❤ your coloring and this sweet card.
So cute I love your colors. I get nervous driving too, my husband and I have a train show on Saturday we are in and I'm selling some cards. I really would have gone to the craft show in Columbus Ohio but can't. Take care.
I love to watch your coloring, Kelly, your instructions are so clear and easy to follow. I’m so sorry that your driving anxiety is so terrible. Would practicing with your husband in the passenger seat help, or make it worse? Maybe you could practice with him beside you to help you feel safer? Maybe just knowing he would save you from any imagined catastrophe and be a second set of eyes would help? I wish I lived near you so that I could just drive you myself or help you practice. I personally love driving when there’s no traffic, unfortunately not the usual in our L.A. highways.
This card is gorgeous! You're so brave to acknowledge your anxiety and still face it! I had a scary situation in 2019 and have had highway anxiety since. I never had any type of driving anxiety before, so I really didn't recognize it for a while. Now I don't drive on any highways at all. Just the thought is debilitating to me.
I have anxiety of leaving home and staying anywhere but my home, and our travel trailer was the only place I’ve slept in 20+ years, other than home. And now that my husband of 52 years has passed away, my next bed will be Nursing Home, (kicking and screaming).lol I’m sure you don’t need my story time. Haha. Admire you for working thru your anxiety.
I have to laugh, even tho it's a very serious subject. As I'm getting ready to address your fear of hwy driving I look at what you're drawing more closely and realized you were drawing bees!?! That's MY fear! lol Soooo, really can't watch what you're doing there too much. Your pinky is actually laying on the bottom bee! agh! Well, I just wanted to tell you that I'm proud of you for facing your fear and wanting to get past it. I have three sons and none of my DILs drive. Nil, not at all... so I think it's more common than you realize! I couldn't wait to drive, I started when I was 12. It is my freedom, my sanctuary. Even tho I DO anticipate the worst every time any of us drive, I just cannot not. So bravo! Hang in there, I think you're going in the right direction but will be anxious to watch how you progress, so keep us posted!💕
I have suffered from anxiety for most of my life. There are many things I have had to force myself to do, but some things I have always dismissed as "I can't do that." I am hoping to work on that in the near future.
I know that anxiety is real so please don't think I'm denying that fact but here's a thought... I know a women that always said "I faint when ever I see blood" and sure enough that is exactly what would happen every time she saw it. She got help and the thing that helped her the most was having it explained to her that she has "trained" her body to have that reaction. Every time you tell yourself or others that you have driving anxiety, you are reinforcing that belief deep into your mind and your strengthening that anxiety reaction. I'm not saying it will cure it but consider softening that thought process some and with time and retraining, the power of those feelings may lessen some.
Your coloring is magical. If you are a Christian, which it sounds like you are, try praying while you are driving & listen to Christian music. Give it to God

Fantastic card, great instructions…thx for sharing your anxiety with driving..I wish you all the best as you conquer your anxiety..
I like the added bushes, white highlight tips are great.

Wow! Just stunning Kelly! Just stunning!
Beautiful card! I really like the addition of the greenery. Thank you for talking adding the accents with white. I learn so much from your videos!

A great card, Kelly - so pretty & cute at the same time! Thanks for your tips on highlighting/shading.... such a big help!!

Stunning! lol watched on my phone and wished I was watching on my TV! Safe travels and hugs.
That is a beautiful card, I understand your driving anxiety, my brother suffers from the same thing. Keep battling through it, you can beat it 👍🏻
I love you scenes and your florals...in this card I got both!!
A beautiful card! I like the shrubs!

Gorgeous, gorgeous!. I am hoping that you are able to overcome your driving anxiety and can go on your trips without any problems.
Thank you for teaching us about using the white pencil!!! I rarely pull out my colored pencils. But, I really like the look. Regarding your driving anxiety… I commend your choice of researching and attempting to improve your ability. I think most people would just not drive - requiring others to do it for them.
Wishing you the best as it sucks when it interferes with quality of life
Thank you! I hope your anxiety improves as well ❤️
Beautiful card Kelly. Such a beautiful card ❤
I love your card. You are so good. Thank you.
So pretty! My thoughts are with you for your driving. Anxiety sux.
Thank you so very much, I learned so much with this tutorial!
Loving the shrubs!!
That is such an awesome card.
Hugs
Finally,, a live!😊

Beautiful!
Beautiful card…
Beautiful!!
Kelly, I love your art, I love learning your process and I love, love your story time!!
So beautiful ❤️
So cute I love your colors. I get nervous driving too, my husband and I have a train show on Saturday we are in and I'm selling some cards. I really would have gone to the craft show in Columbus Ohio but can't. Take care.

Oh Kelly your not alone . I can’t do the highway either especially route 8 here in ohio
Darling card ❤
I’m in for the long haul.😊😊😊😊😊
Love it

Kelly where did you learn to color so beautifully.

I get the driving anxiety. I am the First Lady too. My biggest fear is dying in a car wreck.

Hi Kelly, you mentioned Amy Young. I’d love to see some of her stuff, what name does she use here on UA-cam? Thanks ❤
I cannot make myself get on the interstate. If I have to drive somewhere I take the backroads even if it takes twice as long.
Get a cd book and listen to that while you drive .
Your coloring is magical. If you are a Christian, which it sounds like you are, try praying while you are driving & listen to Christian music. Give it to God
If you get confident in how you are in charge of your car, then driving on the highway is no different than other streets or boulevards.
