i think doom is a great char but i feel like he just isnt really a tank and still feels more like dps. but he is hella fun especially with some of his techs that allow you to basically fly. for ex doing the lunge and then instantly blocking upwards can get you to almost any widow. and my only problem in my gameplay is aiming the fist. i'd say he's high skill because of this and i think they need to buff his overhealth passive too
Exactly doom isn't the problem its what blizzard have done to him. I personally still enjoy the character its just especially in low ranks people don't know how to play around his playstyle.

As a Doomfist main I come to find the phrase "They hate me because they ain't me" all too accurate. Both OW 1&2 I'm able to keep up with every game playing Doomfist. He forces you to get creative and act fast just to do a good amount of damage, but when they're low on health is always best to strike. Doomfist rocks!
Ow1 doom was insanely good tho, just hardfucked by CC like the 1 shot punch was too much and 125 guaranteed a kill

You could always fly with his rocket punch afterwards off obstacles. Ik you didn't play him before but just wanted to let everyone know it isn't new.

It’s not that doom is unplayable it’s that he is outclassed by 95% of other tanks, so why play doom fist if you can play dva Winston or others. Plus he is not all that useful for your team unlike the other tanks
Plus Sombra being able to just fully counter him every 7 seconds is brutal

I respect this take, and to voice my own I play doom because I really enjoy the character and the playstyle. If I only played chars based on meta relevancy then I’d probably not play him tbh.
However the char imo is extremely fun to play and once you start to understand how this new tank doom wants to play he can be extremely rewarding while still being fun.
Two big things I’d say about doom is, his skill floor is a bit higher than many of the other tanks. It’s like playing/learning ball. You don’t jump on ball and expect to have as much value right off the bat as an Orisa or Zarya or Winston or DVA. These chars compared to doom imo are easier to play and get value out of, for their skill floors are much lower.
The character of Doomfist in the lore has the motivation of making order with chaos, and its reflected in his gameplay: just like the origin of the universe, you just press every single button randomly, until eventually you get a kill out of nowhere.

@@tts283 yes, I don't usually play it. That makes me think like that the first time I do. And don't get me wrong, surely it needs a lot of skill to master doomfist, but if you are just a casual player, you don't even know what you're doing most of the time, and still manage to survive and even sometimes to be useful for the team. Especially when the only think you remember of doom is from OW1, so you can be confused enough with the abilities to not use them properly and still kill something.

I had a doomfist in one game that absolutely destroyed everyone. Pretty much carried the game. over 34 elinations. All I had to do was keep him alive.
Doom is underrated as hell but a buff would make him a masterpiece
He's underrated as hell because he's the shittiest tank, withou a team that knows what they're doing.

A few things they could do
Make his fully powered punch 200 damage
Make his ult have a stun affect as soon as you on land on someone (that lasts for like 1.5 seconds so it’s not op)
Make block like toggle-able instead of like how it is now
Make some mash potatoes

The last 17 hours of game has been DF only in comp. I've never mined so much teammate salt in my life. People get so tilted by having a doom even in games we win. I lowkey think he's way underrated and I have a blast playing him. Once I figured out how to be very defensive and escape situations often, I found that enemy teams will dedicate all their resources into attacking me and sometimes it is a huge wasted effort that benefits my team.
I loved seeing this though--it seriously summarized what has been going on with me really well.

From a Doomfist main, i can say you have used him well
Idea for a Doomfist buff:
either A: The block blocks ALL damage from the front down to a percent (Think Baptiste's Immortality Field) and grants Overhealth for each hit blocked when you drop your guard, at the cost of needing 150 damage to get a "Full charge" although you can still get a partial charge, like the old Slam.
Or B: Doomfist gains the ability to charge a punch twice as fast at full charge- and it one shots squishes. Since OW doesn't like tank one shots, maybe just make it 160 DMG? Enough to do SOMETHING.
either of these would get me to block more, but now it just feels useless.
I basically did the same thing, like 10 minutes played pre ow2 now at 13 (7) in comp, I still think he’s bad but he’s fun and really easy to pressure back lines and high ground. Also environmental kills are really satisfying. I just wish they’d at least make his block behave more like a shield so you can’t get cc’d out of it. Also giving him like 50 more hp or some armor hp would be nice. Blizzard will probably just nerf junk rats trap again tho.
for downward diag you just need to jump at any doorway to where your head pretty much touches the doorframe, then release punch and itll send you downwards. gotta time the jump right tho.

Doom is so fun to play to me but I definitely usually cloud win almost every game if I swapped off. I’ve literally been losing 90% on control and swap to sigma and capture and win the game without dying for the rest of it.

Doomfist skill gap is crazy you can get people who play doom and carry their games, then others that do 0 - 20
Doomfist's viability is hellbent on his lack of counter-play, especially in low ranks. Not many people have as decisive ideas for counter-plays against Doom as they do against a character who didn't receive many changes and is currently meta, like Winston. You CAN get to GM and get consistent value but that's because of how hard he is to play. I personally think he should be reworked to be more player-friendly, it shouldn't take many hours to be able to just get value out of a character.

I know the pain as a Doom from the start of OW2, "Bro just play meta". Doom has almost never been played because he was good, however people play him because he is unique and fun.
🤣 thank you for understanding our suffering. Just one thing, rollouts a useless entirely now. All you need to know is super slam and turn slam techs. Punch bounces are useless but you can still use diag punches for some value and style kills. Keep up the doomfisting 😀 great video my dude

Doom is a negation tank. He isnt meant to hold. He isnt meant to actually tank. Hes meant to annoy and silence. The more annoying you are and the more you cancel enemy abilities with his fist, the better you are for your team. Lucio about to Beat? Fist his ass against a wall. Mercy rezzing? Fist her ass in general. Hog about to heal? Fist his ass. His fist arent a "killer" move anymore, hence why he isnt DPS. His fist are active Negates.
I play a lot of Yu Gi Oh... Negates are Very important to me. Every time I see a Doom on my team I get VERY happy, even if theyre shit (as most people on most characters are). Doom has the most active negates in the game (imo). He might not get to cancel damage as effectively as the other tanks, but his job is bigger than that. Most people just cant fill that position so write him off as bad, or needing a buff... like what? Should his E pop up a mini shield on his defensive fist that absorbs like 300 dmg or something? What would be the point? Just use him how he is NOW meant to be used... a NEGATE cannon. Nothing makes me happier than fisting a Hanzo to his face while he tries to send out his ult.

they need to buff the mash potatoes
All they need to do is make his power block stop hooks and spears and maybe give it a larger area of blocking so you can protect people behind you when you are blocking. It also should be 100% protection.
That way people can stop saying he's not a tank.
Give him more protection for his team and maybe build health easier so he feels tangier.
Also he and Sigma are tied for the literal strongest character in the lore of overwatch.
But people act like he should do the damage he does on dps. And they act like they don't want him to be a tank. Like what do you want him to do???
I say he should stay a tank have more health and protection with the block for his team.
And make him do alot more damage.
Sigma and Reignhardt literally kill squishies in 2 clicks. And reign is garunteed a kill on squishies with the charge.
There's no reason doom shouldn't be able to do that same thing with his punch. And all that shit.

You COULD spend 10 hours to learn doom but at that point do that on every hero learning and researching strats and practicing techs and you’ll see huge improvement or you could do that to literally any character

I look at doom kind of like a steroided version of genji. If you practice him really well and consistently you will eventually get good, but those first few hours will always be a struggle. The only problem with this comparison is that even if you practice him, you will only be able to play at a mediocre level, unless your ZBRA...

I’ll be real I was on the side of “Doomfist is trash and I will never give him a chance.” until recently. Honestly what he lacks in damage and health, he makes up for with his insane mobility, I believe it’s safe to say he is the most mobile character in the game which is nuts to say since he’s a TANK!! He’s very fun once you understand he’s not a one man army type but a flanking and catching off guard type. I still believe he needs some sort of buffs but right now, he’s still a decent pick!

As some others have pointed out you're also handicapping the shit out of yourself by not empowering your fist, and you can do it quite easily (Especially in sojourns snare thing) it gives you double range, damage and speed on your fist whilst also making it stun on wall hits letting you secure 2-3 squishy kills quite easily, he still needs a buff imo but wouldn't take much
How do you get empowered easily aside from things like sojourn? Everyone always just stops shooting me.
@@Lorenzo_I. you gotta pick your moments, and position well, easiest way is to sit in front of your team, if you're by yourself they'll obviously just ignore you, but with your team behind you they're basically forced to shoot you, but again, there's no guarantees.

I feel bad for Doom mains. Whenever I get one, I ask very politely if they can switch, and if no, i immediately report. When someone picks Doom there's a 95% chance they're absolute dogshit and you're inevitably going to lose. I'd rather not take the chance.

So during overwatch 1 I found ZBRA as well. I learned him really well.
Then when tankfist came out I followed ZBRA’s foot steps as well.
Throughout my 6 years of the game I never once reached Diamond. This season playing ONLY doomfist (idk how many hours I have. 100+ probably). I am Diamond 2 rn.
and oh yeah the doomfist hate is absurd.

OR
