What a honest, genuine family. Thank you for not flooding us with ads. It proves you really care about the adventure and the ethics of promoting family values and quality time for fourwheel. Driving over a quick dollar. Congratulations
Cheers mate, yeah the adventure comes first, youtube is a side hobby that fills in the time till the next trip🤠. Thanks mate for your support every time, really appreciate it 👍
You guys are just a great Aussie family out for adventure, alot of us can relate to you more than the other channels, who are driving around in $100000+ 4wdrives and the latest campers or caravans. Myself and the Mrs have a Triton and a Jackaroo between us and we love them and love our adventures. As long as your enjoying and having fun and making memories with the kids thats all that matters. cant wait for the next episode. 👍
Yeah I know exactly what you mean, the patrol is getting old nowadays but I still can't justify spending that much money on a car. Also so much more character driving a old car and as long as it gets you home, there really isn't anything wrong. Cheers mate for the support 🤠
That's great to hear, we love what we do and enjoy travelling around on a budget, but still managing to see these magnificent places that anyone with a sense of adventure can do. Cheers for the support 🤠👍
Hey Frank, sorry for the delayed reply, been out of phone service. Cheers for joining us and really appreciated your positive comment and support, it's one of the reasons why we share our adventures. Happy to answer any questions you have and glad you have found our channel of like minded people 🤠👍🍻
Thank you for your awesome videos. I particularly enjoy them because enybody and everybody CAN DO the kind of camping and travelling you guys do. Also, it's like good, old fashioned family camping. Family orientated. We'll done.
Thanks Bill, that's us exactly! Just a regular family on a family holiday with a camera in hand. Still have work, and a mortgage and bills etc, but loving what time off work we can get. Thanks so much for the positive support, really appreciate it 👍 🤠
Wow no adds, I hate adds. That’s awesome. What a great trip. What does the trailer weight Adam? You and the family are a rarity on the tube, not pushing brands or products. Very genuine and that’s what makes the Chanel and of course the mighty patrol 😊
It's about 1550kg loaded up on this trip with 1100kg tare. Our old soft floor camper was about 1000kg loaded up and was on the limits of what we would tow in the Simpson. I remember 1 dune took 6 movements of the maxtrax to get over! That was a adventure and something I'll never forget
@@GoingOverland our trailer tares at 1150 atm 1600. We’ll be taking the trailer through the desert. Don’t know if I’m mad? It’ll be stripped back to the absolute essentials to keep the weight down. But impossible to do a trip in a GU wagon 2 adults 2 kids with out being uncomfortable. Couldn’t fit everything in and be under gvm. She’s a TD42 so plenty of grunt
Yeah mate, and dreaming about that big adventure is half the fun. We make it look easy but there's a lot behind the scenes to do these trips. Thanks for watching and the support 👍
Lovely episode. Even with the road blocks you guys always make it a great adventure. The flies must have liked Larissa because she is so sweet 😊 Not sure if we can make it to Levuka, but we'll see how we go.
🤣 I think the flies love larissa because she always smells good, the rest of us smell like dirt and dust. Hopefully see you next weekend but if not maybe next time 🤠
Yeah it sounded good but only downside was the power consumption and then worrying about having enough solar, and with how much cloud cover we had, would have been chasing our tails. Cheers for the support 🤠
Good to see your adaptability in the face of unknown conditions and keeping things simple. I will try to make it to Levuka for that weekend with my son. It will be great to catch up after following all of your adventures overland.
Awesome work, we are hoping to get there around 6pm Friday night straight after school and work. We'll be easy to find and hopefully at the start of the campground in the big open space
Yeah can't worry too much about what's out of our control. Just one of those things that happens in the outback with rain about. Like they say "it's the journey not the destination ". Very true in this case. Thanks for the support 🤠
It's great with no commercials I would love to be at your meet and greet camping weekend but I live in Adelaide and we have just came back from QLD visiting our daughter maybe next year as planning a big holiday to QLD again great guys cheers legends ☺️
Hey guys We Would love to come up your way camping but unfortunately We lost 5th gear in old patrol while heading to Alice during school holidays 😵💫😀 Loving your vids guys 👌
Why do they always put 'road closed' signs miles and miles up a road instead at the beginning of it or at a point where you can bail without going a long way for nothing?
Where you guys were part with that no through road sign and pointing to that beautiful sand dune next to Big Red which is 45 m hi and the other one opposite big red is called hell's gate.
Yeah we've done 3 Simpson desert trips, twice towing and once solo and towing, we love it out there and drop the tyres to 10 psi usually gets through the first couple of big dunes. Cheers for the support 👍
I recon joolca would love to give you some sponsorship, as you use it daily and don’t have a problem. But it’s up to you and the family keep up the human touch with the videos we all love it
They did reach out to us and we declined the offer. I'm actually impressed with how reliable it is and how much we've used it! Compared to our old gas water heater which only lasted 12 months on the occasional weekend trip, the joolca has over a total of 12 months non-stop use for the 4 of us!
Always enjoy watching your short trips and expeditions. I'm still catching up on your videos of your Nullarbor trip to Perth. 😂 Out of interest, what do you use to get into about weather conditions? Apps? Maybe direct line to BOM? 😁
Yeah mate, it's going to be a great weekend, can't wait. Hopefully be there around 6pm Friday after work, and be at the start of the campground so everyone can find us
Another great video. I love the way nothing is a show-stopper and you always go with the flow. Great stuff. 🙂 They have probably put the bitumen down on the way to Big Red because of the Big Red Bash. It would probably be cheaper than having to grade the road so much due to the traffic. Sadly I'm not going to get to Levuka this time. 😥 But hopefully you'll have other meet and greet weekends in the future. 😎
Yeah it's probably the only reason why it's bitumen, the road to big red used to be really slow and always corrugated. Too bad about levuka, catch you another time👍
Great videos. Thanks for no ads. Would be good if the other overlanders made some sort of limit, like two or three per video. But hey it’s their choice. Can’t wait to see your community camp . 👍
You guys are doing wonderful so far. But I like to give you two important tips. When lowering your tyre pressure on your 4WD regardless of the weight you have in the rear. Lower your front tyre let's say 20 psi now get two sticks one in front one behind let's say it's 250 ml stick to stick that's the footprint of your front tyre. Now you do the same thing to your back tyre don't worry about leaving extra psi in your tyre just go by the measurement 250ml tread on the ground. Now the trailer which gets everybody do the same measurement as your front and rear on your 4WD lower your tires down to 250ml. Now you have six tyres exactly the same footprint for driving any terrain especially soft ground like sand. And your car Driveline and fuel will love you for it. Now my second tip. If you don't like sleeping with black mould in your caravan yes I'm talking about your mattress go and get some aeromesh there are other ones out there too which does the same job that's right lift your mattress up so air can blow through under your mattress. What causes black mould is where you sleep it is your body moisture going through the mattress onto the timber swags and sleeping bags do the same thing you wake up in the morning and you can see the moisture on your swag and stretcher bed because there is no ventilation. Happy and safe travels.
Yeah I know, but I guess I just wanted to prove to myself that I'm not motivated by the revenue, and that I get a kick out of like minded viewers watching and reaching out to us. I'm definitely not worried about the extra income. Thanks so much for watching and the positive support 👍 🤠
Reminds me of when we took a trip to esperence our usualg spot east was under contruction and was nothing on interet or shire pages 🤣🤦. Safe to say we ended up west of esperance at a wiki camp. Wife didnt like the 10hrs in the car but 😂😂
Hey mate, I like your new van, what brand and size is that? I'm keen join you on a tag along, be good see the set up as it'll give us some ideas. Thanks
Fantastic, all are welcome on the meet and greet, should be a fun weekend. The Trailer is a 2016 lifestyle breakaway that we got 3-4 years ago for our lap of Australia. It's a great Trailer, simple and reliable, well go through more of it on the weekend 👍
Out of curiousity, how heavy is your trailer? I ask because you said it was too heavy for the Simpson. And trust me when I say that raising boys doesn't get any easier until they hit about 30! ;-) But it's worth it. He will thank you later for the gentle but firm hand that leads him to being a good man. Well done, dad, well done.
It's 1100kg tare and about 1550kg all loaded up on this trip. Our old trailer was on the limits last time we did a Simpson desert trip at about 1000kg.
Yeah big red is not NP, it's private lease. On trips with the dogs we just stick to free camps or private property. So much fun having the whole family with us 🐕🐕🤠
Hopefully at the big camp area at the start of the camp grounds. Not the prettiest site, but lots of room and easy for everyone to see. From memory big flat area and nice grass. We should be there around 6pm, leaving straight after work and school

Hey I didn't think about calling the police station, that would have been good to getting the right advice. Probably worked out for the best anyway, they had a lot of rain and heaps of people got stuck in birdsville
You were talking earlier on about a lot of rain coming in in the next day or two so this is what the Rangers DO they put up the signs so you don't get stuck in the dried out Salt Lakes because the crust is only thin and the gunk underneath in some of them is like tidal that's right the mud rises up and down under the crust makes it very unstable when it's raining.. Our 5 car convoy for Tagalog tours found this out
Makes sense, but annoying for us, as we wanted to only go a couple of dunes in and not crossing any salt lakes. But glad we listened to the sign and did the right. Thanks mate for the support 👍 🤠
There is nothing wrong with turning some commercials on. YT puts them on the beginning and end anyway. Most people realize it takes a lot of work and time to film and edit videos. Plus it's an easy way for your viewers to show their support. When you go somewhere you buy local goods or food to support that community. It's the same with content creators.
