The Massive Stunning Abandoned Millionaire Stock Brokers Mansion Turned Resort Up North in New York

- This massive old mansion was built in the early 1900’s for a stock market mogul who made a large fortune from railroad and coal stocks. The house was built between 1906-1910 as a getaway from the hot summers in New York city. After the market collapse in 1929 and the onset of the Great Depression, the family was forced to sell the mansion and for a decade it sat vacant until after world war 2 when it was purchased and revamped/remodeled into a resort getaway in the mountains. The business was successful for a few decades and even had a few motel type buildings added in the 1970’s. Sometime in the 1990’s business began to decline and the place was shut down for a final time in need of major work and maintenance. Now it sits crumbling away perched along the mountainsides. Beautiful old house wish I could’ve gotten there sooner. Thank you for watching. Like and leave a comment if you enjoyed. Thank you!

Hi, Kappy, Thanks for our Saturday treat. I have become one of your channel's mothers that care for your wellbeing. Please be careful!❤
It is so sad watching these wonderful properties left behind to rot.
I really appreciate that, have some cool ones on the way! Thank you for the concern and kind words! 🙏
Wow. Magnificent place. BB or ski resort at end? Only thing creepy about this place is the creeps that graffiti the grand house. Man that main room with fireplace. Cup of coffee, nice fire and blizzard outside, now that would be sweet 😋 Thanks again Kappy
Agreed! Loved that large main room with the stone fireplace and coffered ceilings!! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
@@urbanexploringwithkappy1773 man we love your work. Stream to big TV every Saturday 😋😀
@@seethrucrew4092 I have the nicest audience on UA-cam!! Thank you so much!! Glad you enjoyed :)
Did all the doors have room #?I want the pink bathroom.
Did you find the coal furnace?
Love all the windows, must have been bathed in natural light on a sunny day. 👍👍 Kappy!
For sure!! Before the windows were boarded up I’d bet was stunning! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
All that water dripping down by the stairs is the house crying. Seriously though,I’ll never understand how someone, anyone can just let these houses just sit and rot away. The furniture in them too. It tears my heart out. 😢What a waste! The least they could do is reclaim some of the wood and other things. It’s sickening.
Kappy , you nailed it when you said heartbreaking!! Such a waste! Thank you for the explore .
Glad you enjoyed the explore! Starting up a new job soon so not sure I’ll have as much time for UA-cam sadly but I’m going to keep trying to do it on the side!! Just wanted to thank everyone for all the support and kindness over the years in this chapter of my life!
@@urbanexploringwithkappy1773 I have greatly enjoyed all your explorations. Thank you for all your time you put into them! Praying you do well as your enter a new chapter in your life. 🙏❣️
@@charmainegrandin401 thank you!! I’m still going to try and continue filming and exploring in my free time but the frequency of videos may slow down! I appreciate the understanding🙏
How sad is right!! When the roof goes, it all goes.
Sadly true! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
That cast iron range is EXTREMELY RARE!!!
Wow really? How old is it?
Its from when the house was built. Looks like the original stove to me.
It is
Something about those curtains blowing in the wind at 16:00 man
Thank you very much for watching!! :)
There was a PBS program years ago that was about abandon houses that people restored. It was called, If These Walls Could Talk. If only these walls could tell us what amazing things that happened here.
I think it was more a hotel type thing. Unless there were elevators, you wouldnt be having old people climbing all those stairs. Cool place!
How can a place this beautiful ever become abandoned? From the Hardwood floors to the beautiful big windows to the beautiful ceilings and staircase (lol the list keeps going!).
If only I could be blessed to ever have a beautiful home like this! My goodness! Kappy you always find such Unique & beautiful places! Thank you for taking us along with you to explore this beautiful historic house!

Thank you Kappy for another beautiful home and property. This had be grand back in the days.Sad it falling apart.
Really appreciate you watching! Thank you so much for the kind words! I have the nicest audience on UA-cam I swear!! :)
It’s so sad no one tried to save such a beautiful home
Wow what a beautiful mansion! Sad this glorious old girl is rotting away! Very cool find & video Kappy! ❤️🤘👍
Hi Kappy, the sad face spray painted on the wall says it all. I don’t like to glorify graffiti, but that one is spot on.
It’s disgusting how people just come in and destroy something so beautiful.
what a beautiful old matron still wearing her finery even though it now hangs in tatters. Her pride in her beauty still shines through as she she sees herself as she once was as she looks into the mirror of yesterday. Your best find yet thanks for giving us a look into a past that is long gone
Looks like they left behind a bunch of cool vintage furniture too.
Thank you for watching! :)
I just will never understand why these beautiful homes you video are left to rot. This home would be a dream home to me.
Boom and bust of capitalism
Ahhh GOODY!! Just got my coffee! All set to tag along!!
Hope you enjoy! Thanks for watching!! :)
Please please be careful when you are doing these videos!!!!! Thank you for sharing them with us😋
Wonderful tour here! We recently visited a historic site with a large old mansion similar to this one, an old vacation home and lands of one of the many Rockefellers. There are rooms outside of bedrooms, like porch rooms, where guests and family could sleep at night with all the fresh air and views. Looks like this has the same type of setup, because in its heyday, there would be many friends of the family staying here. They would want all the private bathrooms and sleeping porches for the guests, and a huge kitchen with the ability to serve many meals for everyone. The men were probably out exploring and hunting on those lands too. Thank you for all your great videos, been watching for several years🌷🐦
What an amazing home!! The original wood burning stove in the kitchen was awesome to see still 👍 Ashame people have to vandalize and break stuff!!
Wow!! As they say, beauty fades, dumb is forever because the last owners of this beautiful place as usual didnt see the value of this home or its history.Total shame, with all the homelessness,it could have been maybe me ade into something for homeless,or vets,it just us sych a waste ! Nothing built today will ever last in beauty or as long as these homes, great find kappy, thanks for the extremes you go through to share with us 💯👍🏼
Wow! There must be some photos of this place from Bach in day? I’d love to see some! What a place!! Thanks Kappy !! 😊
ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO...WHY NOT HAVE SOMEONE WITH YOU FOR SAFETY
Yes, you should take the servants staircase down! Yes, I'm the one who is always harping on taking the back stairs! Lol I also would not have been able to leave that house without going either up or down that other enclosed, winding staircase! I will train you yet, to do that with the camera!😊 Thanks for showing us this great house.
Why Do Vandals Have To Vandalize What They Do Not Own????? Great Story As Always Kappy So Sad About This Estate Mansion
Love that original stove to the house 🏡 how could anyone let a place like that go
That must have been such a fabulous house. It just seemed to ramble everywhere though and I don't know how anybody got through the hallways for all of those doors! Of course, I can see photographs everywhere!😂
Agreed!! That place was a bit of a maze! I’m sure the boarded up windows and darkness didn’t help though!! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
Wow that place must have been beautiful I love how they left month of the wood trim stained.
Hello Kappy, I enjoy tagging along on your explorations. I do hope you are not alone when you go in these places. Some of the places don't seem very safe.
Usually am alone!! But I’m alright! Thank you very much for the concern and watching!! :)
I can't believe you didn't fall through that staircase
Yeah me too! That would’ve been interesting! Thanks for watching!
This is a prime example of mother nature taking back what belongs to her.
I agree, but not before a bunch of “partiers” had to destroy everything. That makes it sadder.
This home must have been stunning back in its prime. The windows and French doors are just beautiful, I can just imagine all the light streaming in while you are sitting there enjoying a roaring fire and the view of the mountains. You certainly find some great abandoned homes!
The bathroom in this house Tub, Medication Cabinet with mirror and side lights ect is all like mine was, my house was built in 1959, so this is around the same vintage as mine. ❤
It's so sad 😞 but the wildlife must love it with no one bothering them.
This is a gorgeous house and it deserves to be restored great video kappy.
What a gorgeous home at one time. I was in awe of that first room-beautiful fireplace and woodwork! Thank you so much, Kappy!
Amazing Kappy, thank you for sharing.
Thank you very much for watching!! :)
It’s such a shame that this once beautiful home was allowed to get in this condition. This house could never be duplicated. Carpenters don’t have the skills to build such a grand home .
Thanks Kappy, for showing another fantastic mansion! I know you don't normally take things, but I really hope you took that pick axe, or at least hid it where it can't do anymore damage!
What a beautiful old mansion. I love the old style wallpaper. I especially liked the old kitchen stove. Thanks for sharing 👍. Have a good day 😊 ❤.
Thank you very much for watching!! :)
With the amount of water dripping, surprised the basement was not flooded
What a beautiful house it must’ve been. Not looking like it’s long for this world. 😞 Thank you for sharing 💜
Those windows on the grand staircase are awesome. Love the stained glass in them. Also love the wood burning stove. That would probably heat the whole house in the winter. Great video.
Right loved the stained glass! Thank you very much for the kind words and watching!! :)
This place was and is insanely huge and beautiful despite all the graffiti….now that’s what I call a mansion….thank you for sharing this ❤❤
I like the in house water wall. I need one of those.
Lolol! Thanks for watching!! :)
Seems to me that this place was a "boarding home" at one time. The numbers on the door is why I say that. Loved the fireplaces. Lots of money went into it. So glad you were able to film it. Thanks for taking me along Mr Kappy!!!
Good point! The numbers did perplex me! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
I was thinking more like B&B old folks don't like all the steps.& the big restaurant type kitchen. Also if the guy made his $ in coal &trains bet he got a good discount on all that coal! Thanks for the explore Kappy!
Bet you are right! Agreed! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
That’s an interesting building - It reminded me of more a retreat or luxury dorm than it did a house. I hope they don’t let all that architectural salvage go to waste. Nice explore, Kappy!
What a beautiful old home! It’s sad to see it in such a state. The view is stunning!
Thanks for taking us along again!
What an amazing place it must have been. That first floor is still pretty stunning, except for the waterfall. The upper floors have been remodeled so much they don't look like the same property. So many bathrooms! Thanks for the tour and, braving that basement, Kappy
Not remodeled we that much.
Very interesting. And kind of sad. So glad it’s spring now. Thanks for sharing. ❤
This was only a month ago believe it or not! I was shocked they still had a foot of snow up in the mountains of New York in April
! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
Kappy, you always show such respect for these beautiful finds. Thank you. I appreciate the time spent on the features and would love to see the light fixtures in these older beauties. Such a sad state. What these once magnificent walls could speak of. Sad too the furniture was left in place. Thank you again for sharing. Stay safe.
An incredibly beautiful home in a stunning setting. This would have been amazing to see restored but obviously a wee bit late for that. Such beautiful woodworking, a craftsmanship that can’t be duplicated. It is heartbreaking to see such a building disintegrating due to neglect of proper upkeep. Please be careful with those iffy floors and stairs. Thank you for sharing your exploration of this stunning property!
So many bathrooms and doors !!!! The wood panels are beautiful!!! Not much else to be said . This house creeped me out, looking into the bedrooms made me feel sad ….. thanks Kappy I love your videos❤️ but hate it when you go down into the basements!!! Be careful please !!!
That was a happening place at one time. Feels like a resort place people went to have fun. Great find Kappy!
Thank you for another interesting look at the past. That old sideboard with the acorn drawer pulls would have been a beautiful piece of furniture back in the day. I imagine this place would have been used as a ski resort in the 1970s-1990s, also for summer vacationers. Would love to know more history.
Looks like it was some sort of a resort. Perhaps the main house was as a bed and breakfast. Thanks for the explore. Sad to see what vandals do. 😢
The front room at the beginning could hold my whole trailer and still have room. Beautiful place. All those bathrooms would keep housekeepers busy. Stay safe. Oh and the view out the first window was amazing. Picture perfect!
Old folks don't like stairs , it's difficult to get up and down them . Most likely an Inn or possibly a halfway house.
The wood details on the first floor were stunning and that massive wood beam in the basement really speaks to how well the home was built although sadly, it's definitely in a state of decay. I wonder if they rented out rooms and that's why there were so many bathrooms.
This is such an awesome mansion! I get so aggravated when I see all the vandalism. The fireplace in the main entrance is a work of art. I just love fireplaces. The old cast iron stove/oven is phenomenal! I can't imagine what a place that large would cost to run, but if you're very wealthy it probably doesn't matter. Gotta love all them bathrooms. Ya never have to wait, lol. Again, another place with such a breath taking view! God's country! Gotta say I love being in the mountains. I've been in multiple mountains from the east coast to the west coast and through Arkansas and Missouri. There's a peacefulness up so high away from the rest of the world. Chal up another awesome adventure. Kappy, you're the best, and thanks for taking us along. 🤠👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😊
So sad what a gorgeous old house, I would have loved to had seen it in its glory days. I'll never understand why people let these gorgeous old houses rot and fall apart.
🌷. Someone needs to salvage that brass-antique chandelier, and those exquisite large, brass, acorn drawer pulls, a.s.a.p. ...
Thank you, for your slow-panning camerawork, Kappy. 👍
✌️
Edit: Take that pick-axe outta there, so hooligans stop shenanigans of breaking glass...ugh.
Looks like a place for vacationing big city gangsters and their families…past and present.
17:22 that view from the bedroom is so picturesque.
Ty Kappy 4 another great vid. That place was massive and once was beautiful. Sad 2 c it rot away. Plz stay safe out there.
Thank you for the kind words and watching! I have the nicest audience on UA-cam I swear! Thank you :)
@urbanexploringwithkappy1773 ur awesome Kappy don't 4get that! That's y we love ur vids and u! Stay safe!
@@NativeNYer really appreciate that!! Thank you so much! 🙏
What a beauty Kappy. Water inside the house, that's never good. This house had some really nice wallpapers. So neat. Shame this beauty is in this condition. Some of your long shots look like the rooms were slanted. Excellent explore Kappy, beauty. Ugh, snow!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Amazing old home i bet them walls could tell some secrets so many rooms the kitchen was huge with that range stove thank you kappy for sharing it with us .
This house was amazing. Sad the way people have damaged it. Yes it is a little creepy. A lot of left over energy left behind
OMGGGGGGG YOU DID IT AGAIN I LOVED that old mansion and the hotel be side it perfect exploreres dream that mansion was omgggg beautiful down stairs i can imagine christmas time with a huge christmas tree and the fireplace burning to bad i didnt make it to a bed and breakfast great job buddy take care my gratefuly deadicated friend until next time happy exploring
This must have been a lovely home. Cool staggered windows going up the staircase!
That was a beautiful house, and it is a shame to let it rot away. Thank you Kappy, I love your videos.
urbex Exploring with kappy thanks for sharing this video with me my friend it was a really big old place and God Bless and thanks.
I can't believe no one saw the Psycho movie similarities with the mansion and the hotel.
I wonder where in upstate New York this house is? It's odd but beautiful. Trash, sure trashed 🗑 this house and buildings. It was well suited as a summer retreat for the owner and his guests, with its hotel/lodge layout. I want it.
The facade made me think of some kind of gov't building. You said how sad and there was an unhappy face on the wall. How sad that, once again, what should have been salvaged wasn't.
It's hard to fathom anyone even a child wanting to destroy or damage something so beautiful! Seems like they would clean it instead.
hey kappy! thanks for the video. love the scenic views to go along with the exploration.
The roof should always be done first to help with preservation.
WOW, I am so glad you can document these grand old ladies before they are totally gone. Thank you! So many people try to bring them back to life, but the cost is too exorbitant.
This is my favorite... so far.
Look at all that beautiful wood
Hi Kappy another fine video on this mixed up house. I always wondered when Urban explorers search through old places like this and they don’t come across a dead body now that would be scary wouldn’t it mate? Great job. Rob Australia
So sad, this must have been very lovely at one time; the decay alone is bad enough, the vanals only made things worse.
I wonder what these loser, destructive, disrespectful, kids grew up to be. Do they ever have remorse for the destruction they've caused to historic homes and furniture, and irreplaceable artifacts. Just the craftsmanship that can never be replaced, it is so heartbreaking. This was a beautiful home in it's day.
I love old Victorian homes. Aren't you scared the homes are haunted or a squatter is there. Plus, wouldn't it be better to use a drone to go in collapsed rooms so you won't get hurt. How sad these homes should be fixed as museums and not wasted to time and vandals.
Thank you, Kappy for showing us this gorgeous home! It must have been spectacular in its day. I can’t imagine having it as a summer home. I also thank you for speaking so intelligently, as well as your writing. Your mom saw to it that you had a proper education ! I also appreciate the lack of curse words!Take care❤
What a beautiful landscape. Thanks again for taking us along with you!
Wow-always so sad seeing these beautiful houses just decaying. That dove in the kitchen is very cool!! And very old. What a shame it’s just falling apart. If that were a B&B at one time they sure had a beautiful place. That’s a perfect setting for a getaway.
Great video of this stunning old home, thanks. Honestly, I love the small area of wall paper @ 15:29 going up the stairs, faded trees/weeping willow? Dead gray green background with shaded white for trees, I love this stuff and you rarely ever see wall paper anymore, especially this sort. Also, noticed wall paper at 13:20...so cool.
Finally, see my notification, good morning, beautiful house, water coming in ,not good, shame its going to waste, beautiful to be falling in,i think thats first time i heard you say this place gives me the creeps
What a beautiful place. Too bad it is in such bad shape though. Love all the French doors and pocket doors. Would have been the place to stay if skiing though. Have a great day and safe travels
I’m thinking that some one at one time had this as a boarding house, that could be why the extra long dining table.
I really love the great room. The House is absolutely amazing, once again thanks for bringing us along 👍✌️🇺🇲
The upper floors of this house seemed to be in better condition than the main floor.
Yeah i agree! So strange! Maybe because the top floors aren’t boarded up so able to air dry out better! No clue! Thanks for watching!
What a heart breaker😱😭
Completely agreed! Thank you for watching!! :)
Wow !! That place is unbelievable, I bet it was gorgeous in its day too bad Aholes gotta destroy any of these places makes me sick. Thanks for good video. BE SAFE. 😊
Glad you enjoyed!! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
